She was named Nova, but she is not the original reference. Nova was the name of the woman that Charlton Heston ended up with in the original Apes film, the one who couldn't speak. She is now a reference of a reference. :D

As a fan of this franchise, I am excited where we go to a world after Caesar’s region and humanity’s fall to the ALZ-113 epidemic that leaves them back to their primitive state (as we seen the mute human in the OG Planet of the Apes).

I wanna point out some stuff here
Raka makes noises that are very similar to the noises Maurice makes in the first 3 films

And when they gave Mae the nickname of Nova, it could mean she’s connected to Nova from War for the planet of the apes or at least that’s what I think

All female human’s are called Nova by the Apes, yes it was confirmed that the apes still use sign language but more for expression and, Maurice and Raka are the same type of ape so they’re obviously going to make the same sounds

Since Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes' Director Wes Bell has taken inspiration from Hayao Miyazaki’s style for directing the Legend of Zelda movie, my hope it has a well established relationship of Link x Princess Zelda’s relationship (where started out at best of friends in the beginning until their journey evolves them into be lovers) and a new iteration of them traveling hyrule together.
Plus, make an original story similar to what the Super Mario Bros Movie has done build by complement and passionate writers, Princess Zelda becomes a great companion to Link, established the Zelda Lore and mythology, other abilities the Master Sword has, provided Ganondorf enough character background ( one where we can all understand the iconic gaming villain’s intentions, how we should hate him and feared of him as the Gerudo King slowly becomes the Demon King), etc.
