I kinda have a crush on him, but I also want to punch him sometimes, but I don't really hate him
How much it deepens the bonds of the core cast is very true, not just the characters but for the voice actors. A few years ago I met Veronica Taylor at a convention, she was mostly promoted as the voice behind Ash from Pokemon, When I got to the front of the line and said I wanted to meet her because of her work voicing Amelia from Slayers, her eyes widened, she got excited, and immediately our meeting turned a 180 as she was enthusiastically asking me questions. 'What was my favorite episode? Have I met any of the other cast members? How did my interaction with them go?' She was beaming! It's one of my favorite celebrity meet and greets from a convention to date.
Pretty based
As a Team Sub from the beginning, I can't deny this dub is great. Kudos to Lina's VA and her director for the casting. Seriously, she is essentially English Hayashibara Megumi.
Lisa Ortiz is perfect for the character.

Maybe it’s because it is dubbed from New York and most people hate dubs that are dubbed by New York.
Zelgadis is probably why, he's completely unlikable
cuz it's old and nothings been done with it since before the 2010's.

Slayers is such an important part of my childhood, it is so nice to hear someone talk about it! It pushed me to pursue animation.^^
Even as a young girl, I knew Next was the best season!
I'm two years late to this video and you're just...you get it dude. Completely. Thank you for this, Slayers is in my top 5 anime of all time and it was my *true* gateway anime at age seven (my mom got the 2nd VHS of season 1 at a pawn shop and the rest was history), and NEXT is really the best oftan always welcome show.
I've watched this multiple times since you released it and (obviously) watched slayers too many times. yet I can't help but love this cast of idiots and their adventures. Also, as someone that watched 90% of my anime in Dub this is one of those that I feel weird watching in Sub.
I just watched your Slayers and NEXT reviews back to back and this was great. It's insane that you are not more popular. Hopefully this one comment will help that little bit to make the UA-cam algorithm overlords notice your channel so that more people can find your amazing videos. Also it should go without saying, but you've just gained an extra subscriber.
Truly the best out of the original three series. And I don't care what people say, David Moo was great as Xellos! I just love that snarkiness that sounds similar to that of Jess Harnell and Greg Proops.
David Moo also voices Santi in the 4kids dub of One Piece which is panned ass the worst dub of all time.
The bad reviews of said dub of One Piece caused David Moo to quit voice acting all together

ok, six things:
thing 1: Slayers Next is my favorite of the series too, you my man
thing 2: ONE HOUR. Good god. Now that's dedication to something you love.
thing 3: your choice of bgm continues to be beyond perfect. I mean, you even use FF9 music. That is an instant 100% for me.
thing 4: ok I still stand by my belief that the dub is nothing compared to the sub, but 5:50 is a very good clip, I am impressed by that voice actress.
thing 5: David Moo is actually my biggest reason for not liking the dub at all, so there you go
thing 6: Despite the disagreements I may express, your reviews are freaking awesome and you really do deserve more subs. Thank you for making these videos, and keep up the good work!

My friend and I call that the Big Fish episode - because the chef's family was actually real and not just a story!
Zelgadis ended up getting embarrassed a lot, so that's all good in my book
Great effort with the video. This was also my favorite season of Slayers. It's the one I saw the most at Blockbuster as a kid. Martina was delightfully nutty.

You say David Moo and my first thought went to that one time he played crazy man in YGO.
Remember that one time Rachael played a one off character in that little known 2000s dumpsterfire where it was like she was reading the script for the first time in the booth because she burst out laughing at the character's boyfriend dieing 10 seconds after introducing him.
That was a great relationship. Thanks for the memories.

@@ottagol1985 If you search Weiss Kruez Outtakes, the very first outtake is Rachael loosing it over the ridiculousness of the scenario. She laughs, I laugh, its a good time.

@@dwainsimmons3447 I hate to think of something that gave me so much joy as David Moo's voice acting (best Xellos - I know everyone has a different tastes but I thought his delivery brought something fantastic to the character - and bless PaniK and his DAAARKNESSSS) could be such a force of frustration in that person's life.
I hope 4Piece didn't make him hate his voice acting career.

Give the Subbed version of Next a go… some of the more emotional moments of this saga are more powerful in Japanese.

Hellmaster Phibrizo seems like he should be in fucking Berserk or Soulsborne Lore. The horror and complete and utter lack of context of this abomination in a series that tends to go from zany to serious on a see-saw is disturbing.
It's like if Alucard from Hellsing showed up to help 'deal with' bullies in a high school romance anime or if the latest episode of Ranma 1/2 featured a surprise visit by Dio Brando. And I don't mean power level wise (although, yes, that too), but the sheer One Of These Things Is Not Like The Others factor.

Since the kingdom of Seiruun is in the shape of a star of david, I wonder if this means the kingdom is based on Israel and technically Amelia is the first major jewish character in anime?
It's really more a magic circle. Star of David is just a common shape to draw within one. Also Amelia is based on America, not Israel.
The way Slayers next ended was so good but then they came out with the anti climatic Slayers try

you know @KaiserBeamz as far as anime goes golden boy is not the best p4p anime or even knocks off slayers by a min. why? B/c slayers is more of a show i could show too a child and they could like it and understand the corki dramatical followings that follow. With golden boy i can only show that to a certain group of people b/c of the age references and scenarios in the anime. Not everyone can watch golden boy but everyone can watch Slayers. So i disagree that golden boy even out ranks Slayers by even a minute. Slayers in its own right is p4p queen.
This show is like if you play DND but your dungeon master has ADHD and can't stick to one story all the way
Xellos is the main reason I can't watch the dub. I was introduced to the series through the sub of Next, and when my sister showed me a dubbed episode with Xellos, I was absolutely appalled; I hate his English voice with the fire of 1000 supernovas.
Also: why does Sylphiel look so much like Xellos?
His English voice actually sounds perfect for the character.

The crossdressing episode *almost* says some interesting things. The recurring bit about Lena being the most under suspicion because she doesn't live up to certain standards of femininity is interesting and the reverse Mulan plot could have been sweet if played straight. The ending really lost everything good that made it into that mess of an episode...
Ooof nooo noooo Xellos' dub voice does NOT match the character. He sounds like an old-timey radio host. 😩 He is wily, charming, and devious. Ubassuming and soft-spoken. Mysterious, dangerous, lurking. The dub voice is out of place and quite jarring. If you really want to experience the magnificence of this show, watch it subbed. The voices are perfect for the character, have more heart, energy, and sound so much more natural. The English dub have horrible inflection, cadence, and honestly feels like they dont know whats happening.
Did you have to shit on Star vs The Forces Of Evil to make an unjustified comparison? One I think you're absolutely 100% wrong about, by the way. Slayers is literally my favorite show and work of fiction of all time, no doubt, but that little bit was totally unjustified and flat-out wrong. Seriously, the show itself even spends 2 entire season arcs actually CONTRADICTING what you said and preaching a moral that is the OPPOSITE of what you said. Seems like you didn't even watch it.
