If, for some reason, u already logged in, and didn't do recovery from first setup. Remove app, with deletion of all setting, and start all over again. Works!
I guess I have to do it this way as I installed the app on my new phone and didn't notice any restore button. Seems kind of weird there is no option to restore from cloud if you already have the app installed and didn't restore during the install process.
Iphone/ios user here. There was no backup under the settings. Here is how you have to do it. On the phone with all the original authenticator data (must be an ios -> ios transfer or android -> android) 0.) Make sure you're signed in on an account in the microsoft authenticator app 1.) Settings -> Backup -> Turn on iCloud Backup On the New Device 2.) On the new device install the microsoft authenticator app 3.) After the first few prompts, you will see a prompt with the option to restore from backup -> Select that option and sign in using the same account from the original device. 4.) The authenticator app will autopopulate with your codes. At first the codes on the new devices will differ but after some time the codes will sync up and be the same. The first batch of codes are probably just temporary and used as a placeholder until the codes sync up.
my phone broke due to some car accident(I'm Fine, thanks for asking 😊) it was oneplus"android" and I tried with my second mobile, iPhone "ios" it didn't work, until I crossed your video and saw this frame 00:10 then I tried it using Emulator "android studio" and thanks god its WORKED 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭. liked and sub to your channel, SIR 🤝.
Great video, thank you. I tried to restore my Microsoft authenticator yesterday by using the restore from backup option on the new phone. It restored all my accounts except for all Outlook and Microsoft 365 accounts because it said that "additional authentication is required" and "action required" which means that I will have to login into 20 Microsoft 365 accounts to rescan the QR codes. That really defeats the purpose of recovery.
Will Microsoft Authenticator on the new iPhone still ask for a Microsoft Authenticator verify from the old phone when logging in on the Microsoft account? What if I don’t have my old phone and just want to backup and restore from iCloud?
Last time I checked, you don't need your old phone as long as you have a backup saved. However, if you are trying to log in to your MS account, you will need the old phone to enter that code first. You can go to your MS account on a computer and rest your authentication settings. You will need to have a backup key for that (I think)
I had already installed it on my new device and went into the app trying to figure it out. Then, I came here searching for a video and found yours. After watching I uninstalled it and made sure to hit restore from backup but it still didn't restore the other two that I had on the authenticator. :(
How about when I backed it up before, then reformatted the same phone, and now I want to access it again, I tried to do it but all it says is "Too many requests."
Well done this worked. Microsoft is painful to deal with. Especially now that their support is coming from West Africa (low wages) and the call quality is really poor.
This worked for me with one slightly different step. Here’s what I did. I had everything on my iPhone. I was signed in with the same account on my iPad but it was lacking everything. So I deleted the app on my iPad. Reinstalled it. Selected the restore from back option. It had me verify via the authenticator on my iPhone (that was the additional step). After that everything on my iPhone is now on my iPad. So glad to have it on two devices now. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for this valuable share, It really saved my time in getting all of my accounts from my mum's phone to my phone. especially it helped me in signing with my TCS Code Vita account into Microsoft Authenticator which is only able to sign-in only through QR code. Please keep posting videos like this more informative.😇🥰😍
Thanks for this! i had a weird problem that when i logged in to the authenticator on my new phone and signed in to my microsoft account it only added the microsoft account itself and not the other accounts i had on the old phone like twitter. i think it's because i had not backed it up. so i backed it up on my old phone, deleted the authenticator app on my new phone and re-downloaded it and then i was able to choose recovery from backup and now all the accounts were added back on.
I cannot recover to my new phone, probably because at first, I manually logged into my MS account once, assuming that then the codes would be recovered. That was not the case, I had an empty slate with just the manually added MS account. I activated cloud backup, and once the data were backed up. Later I realised that I need to do the recovery procedure described here, but now it does not work anymore, even after deleting all app data. I can start recovery, the 2-digits code in the original app comes up and I can approve the recovery to the new phone, but in the end I get an error message, saying that the backup allegedly was not saved under that MS account and I should try another one, which is definitely a false statement. Maybe it looks under the device-specific cloud backup I had created and then deleted again before, not really accessing the backup from my old phone anymore. How can I manually transfer all data to the new phone?
After a while, the old authenticator app asked me to refresh my backup to the cloud, so I did. After that, I finally was able to restore them to the new device. Probably, the deleted backup from the new device under the same account meant that in the meantime there was no cloud backup at all. Very strange. Guys, be careful to really start from scratch with cloud restore and do NOT manually add any identical accounts and backup them first.
@@Computerlegacy You are right. Every single one of them sucks. They want to design their apps in the most painful way possible in the name of 'security'.
I somoehow added my microsoft account to Authenticator on the new iphone and now cannot import from the old iphone so i don't have the "recover accounts" button 😢
Have you backed up the new codes to the cloud? If not, then reset all authentication codes. Then delete this app and install it again. Then you'll find the option. If you have backed up the new app, there is no way to recover the old one.
Help me please... I was recently logged out of my work email on my corporate account since I got a new phone. Try logging in again and an authenticator is required. However, when I got a new phone, I also had to set up my authenticator. When trying to add my work account to the authenticator it didn't work as to log back into the authenticator I need to use the authenticator to give me a verification code. This has led to me being locked out of my work email and stuck in an authenticator loop. I need the authenticator code to log in, but I need to log in to view the authenticator code.
I understand. Many people have faced this issue, and the only way is to email your company's IT department or people who manage accounts and log in and ask them to reset your account.
If you had the cloud backup enabled, you are in luck. If not, then nothing can be done. You will need to reset the Authenticator for each website. Some allow you to do that through your phone, while with others, you will need to contact support.
Good video. I already had the Microsoft Authenticator app installed on my new phone, and I couldn't find the option to restore from the backup of my other phone. I uninstalled the app on the new phone, reinstalled and went through the restore process as you outlined, and it's all working now. Thanks

Hey I need to know how to transfer my work or school authenticator account from my android phone to iPhone. I follow the steps of the above video and I transfer my personal account but I couldn't transfer my school account.
hey how do you to transfer Authenticator account from IOS to android? Im getting an error message saying that there is nothing stored with my email address even though it says it has been backed up?
You can't do that. That's because your codes from your iPhone are saved on the iCloud, and the codes from Android devices are saved on the Microsoft servers. So, there is no way to recover iPhone codes to an Android and vice versa.
Hey bro i have troubling to get my Salesforce old accounts due to dead phone. in my new phone i haven't backup or any type of recovery so what i need to do ?😢
If you don't have access to the account, try putting one of the recovery codes? When you create 2FA, websites show recovery codes in case you don't have the Authenticator app. If you have the recovery codes, you can contact their customer support to remove the 2FA.

So do i have to install the authenticator on my phone, and then simply add the code on my fathers phone for verification... In this case, you can try Google Authenticator or Authy.
