The new PRONTO Auto-Focus Lens Adapter for Sony cameras does the unbelievable: it can auto-focus practically any lens you mount on it.
Just set your Leica M lens to infinity focus and mount it onto the PRONTO. Power up your Sony camera, and PRONTO will adjust the lens' position to focus the image, all under the control of Sony's Phase Detection auto-focus system. useful thing, but the point of shooting on vintage lens is the manual control of everything : aperture, focus, sometimes integrated leaf shutter. that's the romantics. it's all about the sensation of photography, so for me this adapter is a kind of heresy

Thanks for this, which is the most professional photo product presentation I've seen so far. I could list the many things done well including the presenter's performance. There are only two things I think should be changed: 1) 2 pounds was listed in specs. Add metric and you'll more directly communicate with the vast majority in the world. I see 2 cm was mentioned elsewhere. and 2) In the list of adaptable lens mounts, many common and a couple of uncommon mounts were listed as compatible. It took me quite some time to finally confirm that the Canon FD mount works with the system (I hope I'm right) via an FD-LM adapter. Canon FD lenses include some of the best ever made, are widely available and mostly an incredible bargain.

Whoa! That's really cool - thanks for sharing! Despite the obvious sound, what's your experience been like using it while filming? (if it works at all in continuous AF mode... I have the feeling it may just be for stills, but it doesn't specifically say anything about video on their site).
