You’re killing me! Every time I think I’ve made a final decision about my next Uke, I watch one of your videos. That Snail model is absolutely stunning!
Thanks, Alex, for my fav TV show of the week! :-) Out of curiosity, how does the Snail compare sound-wise, in your opinion, to the previous solid acacia model, the satin one with the scoop? (To me they sound very much the same). The mango Rebels make my head spin every time. They sound so dreamy, I want one so badly! Then I remember I can't really afford one. *Then* I'm asking myself, if I could part with that much cash, why would I choose it over a solid koa Kanilea or KoAloha, which is just a notch more expensive, once you get to that level? And that I cannot answer, but I still want one :-)
You offer a great price on the Kala Flame Maple. I bought one several months ago and love it. It looks and sounds amazing! But in the states it’s selling for $399 or 310 pound sterling.
Me too. Everytime I do a video on them I seriously toy with the idea of buying one. To me they offer something completely different that you'll struggle to find better, even at 3-4 times the price. I actually just purchased an Eastman guitar after trying one at NAMM - great company, great Ukes, great value.
Another good video, very interesting. Thanks. I hope you can do a review on the Kala Super Tenor KA-AMHG-ST in the near future. I can't seem to find much on this model.
That was a model released around summer NAMM I think. For some reason it has never found its way into the UK distributors catalogue and I had forgotten all about it until I saw your comment... Il ask a few people in the know and Hopefully we will have them one day soon.
Got a response from KALAs UK distributor - the model was Almost immediately removed from the price list and marked as discontinued. This does happen from time to time and usually when you go down the rabbit hole you find out that there were problems with the design or something about the initial run that went wrong. It may resurface though as there is definitely a gap in the market for more affordable super tenors.
Both very good. We did a video on the Voyager The Victoria is a bit more specialist because less people want a satin finish but highly rate both models
Thanks for all the great videos 👍Can you clarify the nut width of the Kai KTI30 please? The Kai website states that for all models the nut width is 35mm rising to 37mm on the tenor. But weirdly they don't state this for the KTI30! Can you confirm/deny please?
Kai get the nut widths wrong on their own website. At the time of writing, Kai Ukes have a 35mm nut width. I even mention this in other videos at some point with a screenshot of Kais website and a shot of the kai next to a ruler... you can normally trust the measurements on our website for future reference as we measure these things ourselves before listing them... This kind of thing happens a lot.
It's almost definitely best to choose a Concert or a Tenor - have a think about whether your hands are big and go from there, it certainly won't hurt to go for a Tenor my friend. Best of luck!
Southern Ukulele Store thank you so much it’s a jungle out there to find my first uke but i really like the KALA KA-SSEM-T but i Can get it in C instead. Hope you ship to Denmark :)

@@SouthernUkuleleStore many thanks. I don't suppose you can recall which video that was please?
Not a clue... Ive made 200 of them now 😂
The videos are in the instruments listings so you could probably find it with minimal effort. 🙂
Hey Alex. I’m a complete beginner and have never played a string instrument before. Do you Think that a tenor Will be a good beginners choice?
It's almost definitely best to choose a Concert or a Tenor - have a think about whether your hands are big and go from there, it certainly won't hurt to go for a Tenor my friend.
