So closed to the heart! Last trip to Colorado for treework, I took my 9 yr old son with me…really complicated my trip on one hand…on the other it was 2 months of 24/7 with him and a dream come true. A special bond was forged…and literally ‘luck’ would have it - every client of mine was there for me and him…before I would leave and this heavy feeling lingered…of me missing so much of him growing up…Love how you framed something so close to the heart…
I'd been wondering where Adam's been lately. Was anything ever mentioned on video about it? If so, I must've missed it somehow. Glad to see him though.
Hey August! Nice work everyone! Great to see a cameo from Adam Zappo too! There's certainly some strong irony in the life of those that have to provide for their family, you spend long hours trying to give them a better life, but the more time you spend working for it the less you get to be a part of it with them...
#1 this is the reason I watch August, the real Conversation. #2 As a Climber I relate, not that any asked...#3 I all aspects of this life we are tasked with solving the, want more time with all the important people places an things. Great vid. Right on point!!! Some listen but few hear!!!!
Wonderful message and great job on the trees. You’re so right, cherish those moments with your children, spend time with them, listen to them. They grow up so fast. ❤️
Awe Hiii Adam 😁❤ We miss you !!! Best ground guy ever !!! You do a great job with the kid's August!!! We always wish we could spend more time with them, it's just a balancing act 😊 And good job getting all the outriggers down an back up without smashing everything 😉
Great talk at the start of the video, love the thoughts and ideas every tree guy gets on the way to the job before solving the days puzzle. Welll done August and crew! keep on solving
Real talk my friend real talk. Stay present as much as possible. Sometimes we've gotta explain the tough things to our little ones. Even though all they want is just to spend those precious moments with us. Heart felt talk this morning. We needed to hear that. 🙏🏿
People have jobs that take them out of state for extended periods for years at a time. (Ask me how I know) Though putting in some long hours in trees seems rough, at some point you could delegate the work to others. Though I suspect as in my own case until I’m physically unable to do the hands on work, things will stay the same. I enjoy working nearby in my community mostly as apposed to being stuck hundreds or thousands of miles from home and family. Working man’s blues was beautiful. 👍 Best to you August.☝️
I get all that if anyone does, lots of miles under the belt. Glad I'm not out on the road like in the past, but I'd still like to be home/working with the family more. Be safe out there.
Hey August, Thanks for all the content and informational videos. I'm a new climber but have been cutting trees for years now with an education in forestry. I've started my own business removing trees in Central Ontario and always love checking out your videos for tried and true as well as new and innovative methods for getting the job done SAFELY. No job is worth not coming home from.
Hi August, Thank you for your inspirational talk at the start of the video. I cant do the things you do as I missed the opportunity to learn earlier in life. Now having done other dangerous jobs instead for my entire working life I find myself retired but still busy caring for gardens etc and yes that involves saws. I digress sorry. It is great to be able to take the time out for me time when my head is not fully together. Not a place to be when waving saws about. Total focus or totally go home until you are is the way I talk to myself about it and I think your talk kind of confirms that, for me anyway. Thanks for all the knowledge and skill you share with us and for revealing the real man inside instead of a faked image as some people do in online media. God Bless you Bro
Always great to see you guys. Love the vids. I can understand the feelings of wanting to be home. It was good to see Adam. Is he no longer working for you? Take care. And for the hard days, remember, God has not given to us a spirit of fear but he has given us a sound mind. Fear not, you are a good Dad. Have an awesome day
When I ran knuckle boom delivering drywall we got into quite a few odd situations/ setups too. That one was pretty straightforward, but a bit tight for sure. There were some places we went in town with similar curbing(and walls) that we had to set blocks up next to in order to distribute some of the weight off the curb/walls. It is fun figuring out the puzzles, just as long as people dont try to rush it, that's neither fun or safe.
As a tree worker I'm always saying "I'm not superstitious.... BUTTTTT....." , in this industry, we just see too many things happen to pure chance. As you said, it's not luck in the way of leprechauns or magic, it's just which face of the coin you get, and prepare for the worst 👍
Enjoyed the video. I was excited when you mentioned climbing that tree and rigging out. But, I understand, for expedience sake, money sake...."Get'r Done!". (I know you wanted to climb it....maybe needed to climb it.)
Colossians 3:23-24 NIV Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. Well you're doing it August, It's hard sometimes. Sometimes for a season in life, serving my fellow man has put food on the table for my family, we are warm and dry. I am blessed, Thank you for posting and reminding me.
Things happen all the time good and bad, because of the nature of our fallen world, and the choices of people. God allows those to happen, he could stop them but doesn't because he gives each of us our free agency. And because He has an eternal perspective. Sometimes we let our children make mistakes so they will learn from them.
Been there, done that and didn't want the tee shirt. Twenty years active duty USAF. Long hours. Get home and the phone rings. Return to duty ASAP. Months away from home. Missed life events.
".....I have not yet received my medallion of super galactic oneness....." 😆 Good times and good tree work with the MonkeyBeaver crew. Thanks for sharing and keep yourselves safe! 😃👍❤🌲 Randy
Good luck is when proper preparation meets opportunity. Bad luck is simply the lack of preparation! More accurately though, and biblically, good luck is simply God giving you favor and mercy. And bad luck is just a test from the Lord. Which ironically, you can will still find favor and mercy during tests as well.
@AugustHunicke funny when you were talking about luck I was thinking about Solomon. I share scripture from eccl on a normal basis, many have no idea what's in there, but just as with proverbs, there's something everyone can relate to at exactly that moment. Be safe.

It's always nice to hear philosopher August 😁!!!!! Working man blues is on of my favorite videos.
I find myself coming to your videos more for your talks than the tree work. ...but the tree work is great too.
Such a good channel!
You’re awesome August. We appreciate you sharing your journey. We really do.
And thank you for being a Godly man.
Row row row your boat gently down the stream……merrily merrily merrily merrily LIFE…… is but a DREAM…..I sing that to myself a lot…….more so lately!🤔🙂
These guys wield big chainsaws like a surgeon’s scalpel
It's a challenge for most parents who have to support their families, and it's also a concern
Wonderful video. Wish it was longer. Praise Jesus. Love is king

Much respect, great video. "Go ahead and dream big and make big blunders".
That's one heck of a gut-check August. Time flies, use it well. God bless.

The tree was ripe to fall, so control and safety was better for everyone. I hope many more decades of Magnolia joy to come.

I need time to process what I'm most amazed by, but I'm definitely amazed.
Thank you August for everything you do.
6:29 Love how you made, then seemed to regret an age burn, then circled right back to another age burn!!

Great looking prune and i very much relate to your situation at the end
Nice reduction pruning/ crown thinning of the Magnolia grandiflora ( Southern magnolia )
Less is more.🤙
That is a great Magnolia tree. About like the ones in Arkansas. That one might be the biggest I ever saw.
Loved the message. I personally wouldn’t mind a few more videos of non-spur, decurrent pruning and climb technique.

We did a few off camera things for this one actually that’s why the set up was an hour and 20 minutes

August I love the old high school woodshop gun cabinet. Had one that looked exactly the same I made 40 years ago, unfortunately I didn’t keep it.
Good to see Adam, what’s he doing now?

Wish I could "like" more than once.

August, take the time to listen to your son before he is older and doesn't want to share with you anymore.
I guess you didn’t watch the video.
A well trained son will always share with their father.
