I was the supervising Game Warden for Lake County and much of the Mendocino County stretches of the main Eel and S. Fork. My father was the Game Warden for Leggett/Laytonville area before me. I fished some of the best Steelhead and Salmon waters found at that time. That was prior to 1964.......I became the DFG Patrol Lieutenant for Lake county in 1978 and was there until 1998 when I retired to my native Idaho. It has always bothered me to see that so much prime spawning water has been lost to the Dam at Lake Pillsbury. I have heard folks claim it to be a great LMB fishing lake. I saw a few taken over many years and with Clearlake close buy who would go there to bypass the best Bass fishing in the west? Folks stay the course and get that dam removed.........would be glad to add support.

From the top of Horse Mountain in Lake County, I look across to the great life giving Snow Mountain Wilderness, and she'd a tear that a dam stands between the salmon and their ancestral headwaters.

I helped mine a small section years ago 50x150 yards and with a week I was catching nice trout in the riffle. Add the siltation from years of neglect (and everyone stopping its cleaning out) and the 300 + sea lions at the estuary coupled with dope and wine....it’s going to be tough. Nice intro can’t wait to watch the whole thing!

No one has the balls to do what needs to be done.

Still looking grim. The politics is a roadblock. The south wants the eels water . And the fisheries money goes mostly there.
