    I love the fact that when you run into a problem you don't quit until you solve it that's the way to get quality work done

    Hello from Wisconsin USA. I’ve watched every single episode from the beginning. Long time viewer /subscriber. It’s quite amazing to see all of the thought, and engineering that goes into this. In my own opinion, this is one of the best “build series” that has ever hit the internet. You guys are great!

    instead of putting bigger springs in it how about you apply some blue dykem or a permanent marker see where its fouling & clearancing the rails with a bit of sand paper just to give it a little bit of play so it can slide more easily

    Surely there are worm drive components available that would be a far neater solution to adjusting the peddle box fore and aft.

    The pedal box has been the highlight of this entire fabulous build. I would never have thought that possible after previous bits like the shifter. 🦟

    Glad to see you overcame the locking issue. Question I have is: How do you intend to plumb up to the master cylinders since they are now movable? Metallic flex hoses are going to resist movement of the pedals and can only accept a minimum radius for bending. Will be very interested to see your solution.

    I will keep saying it, this is my favorite project on youtube. If would ever build my dream car this ticks all the boxes. Small, nimble, light, minimalistic, modern and as much analogical and serviceable possible. You add a great engine, reliable, serviceable and good fuel economy. I tell you perfect car. And doing all from scratch with your family, dream build🦟

    Great project but i do have one slight concern that is simply that if the box is fully advanced will the good lady be able to reach the pedals to assert pressure to take the weight off the springs allowing the slider to retract?. As for the cable pull maybe an adapted motorcycle rear foot brake pedal mounted on the inner sill or centre console might work?

    • @davidyendoll5903
      @davidyendoll5903 2 місяці тому

      Solid rod design ! I had a Honda 250 K4 with that rear brake design . One day the swing arm mounted bar connected to the brake drum to prevent the drum spinning disconnected . How or why , dont know as it was dark and in the countryside , but I had to get home . However ... because the drum spun , the control rod was wrapped around the wheel axle and the force of that on the brake foot lever pivot caused the pivot cylindrical bit to open up and fall off . So once I had recovered from a massive slide , helped by the fact that I was travelling up hill , I managed to remove the broken pedal and drive home very carefully . Mind you the rear brake was seized on or very close ..... the hub was glowing when I eventually got to where I was staying .... mobile phones only existed on Star Trek then ! I still believe some idiot decided to prank me . .

    How did Marcos move the pedal box on the 60s GT? I think I recall a large knob on the dash to wind them in. Would that give more fine adjustment?
    Also, what's the chronograph Andrew is wearing with the light blue dial and red/brown bezel? Beautiful colours.

    The pins shouldn't have a bit of a taper, to have less friction, and would pop in much easier? It should be greased as well. I'm watching it all the way to the end, but I don't know how to add a Mosquito.

    I think your spring design is overengineered 😂 Just put a tension belt loop there to have a nice grip and you could pull it easily. Like those lightweight porsche door handle loops...
    And maybe you could even unlock your mechanism by this loop because your locking bolts seem to be pretty strong

    620 kilos is crazy light. thats about 60kg lighter than an S2 Elan (My dream car). 3 in 1 silicone spray would work well on the nylon runners. It will make it worse to start with, but once the carrier has evaporated (

  • @dlux703
    @dlux703 2 місяці тому +1

    Your pedal box is like a jewel box of ideas and fabrication skills, however I still have my doubts about how you will fit the hydraulic lines in and out of those master cylinders, under the foot-plate that will cover them, and avoid a nest of issues with connections to flex-lines, and potential leaking, as well as bleeding access. It appears the cover plate will end up quite high to afford room for all those hoses and their required freedom of movement. 🦟

  • @enricomercado4671
    @enricomercado4671 2 місяці тому +2

    Maybe if you used drawer runners with bearings (You can get heavy duty ones used in mechsnic's tool boxes), the pedal box will move easier forwards and backwards for adjustment. The problem with the plastic board is, thermal expansion of the board, when it gets warm , and/or built up dirt in the runners can cause it to seize on the aluminum runners....

    • @delukxy
      @delukxy 2 місяці тому

      Although you won't change to proper ball bearing sliders, you can reduce the surface area of the moving part of the slider by making notches along the bearing surface. Graphite lock lube shouldn't pick up too much dirt and that would also help. Dirt would deposit in the notches.
      🦟

    I can’t help thinking that small dia needle roller linear bearings are required, or more clearence and rely on the peg locations for taking the movement out under braking, but still a great looking bit of kit.🦟

    All the way through watching this I was remembering something I was told while I was training as an engineer. It was "The tighter the clearance, the smaller the spec of grit needs to be to jam it up solid" (I'm paraphrasing here, as UA-cam wouldn't be happy if I'd added the five expletives minimum that would have typically been in a sentence of that length. 😄).
    So, how you intending to keep the specs of grit out of it?
