Thanks For allowing each image to land and settle For an average of five seconds. Some people post their vintage photos for three quarters to LESS THAN half a second. Five seconds is a wonderful portion of time/ Time to give the viewers a chance to study and appreciate, and Time to pay some sincere homage to the images of past friendships and forgotten affections, and to the idea of loyaly that still Burns between my buddies and I. Respectfully submitted for your consideration Gregg Oreo Long Beach CA Etats Unis
Thanks, Gregg. We've been "some people" too, so please don't look at some of our earliest work. A little motion helps (visual interest, but also to make some of the lower-resolution images less noticeable). We now try to give at least a couple seconds (mostly) still. Simpler transitions too. But boy were we "snazzy" at the start. Simpler is better...definitely lets the pictures tell more of their own stories. All the best to you and your buddies.
as others have mentioned, someone had to take these photos...obviously someone the couples felt comfortable with, so basically 3 people who could have gotten into trouble in those repressive times. And many developer shops would have refused service. Miracle that these photos were taken/produced and that they survived. Hopefully the love/intimacy shown by these men continued on
My understanding is a lot of these were taken by gay photographers who developed their own negatives and prints. Also, in the case of a few ingenious types, they figured out how to use early self-timers, and do self-portraits. If you haven't watched the Len + Cub video, it's short and sweet. My understanding is there are hundreds of images of this private couple. I hear some are less than suitable for UA-cam...though I've yet to find them anywhere. The library/museum that holds them may be keeping those private a bit longer. Where there's love and desire, there's risk and risk-takers. Thankfully some of their risks paid off and we're able to be inspired by them today. 🌈✌️
It is so good seeing these photos of guys who were just being themselves -- long before the muscle building fad took over. At 88, I remember all that well - and, frankly, wish it were that way again.
Where in the world do you find these thousands of pictures of men seeming to embrace and care for each other? I grew up in the 1950s and 60s. I don't EVER remember seeing two men holding each other like that. I grew up in Alabama, so there's that to consider; no "role models" for gay teens, then or probably even now.
Fortunately for all of us some very generous collectors over the years have shared their photo finds all over the internet. If you know where to look. Just takes a lot of clicking, but our hidden history is there. Some of it anyway. I make these so more folks can see it and enjoy it. Hope you enjoy.
I suffer from cancer and depression! A therapist asked me if I met someone and fell in love ,, would that make me feel better and knock me out of my depression ? I Answered : Yes !
At one point, it could definitely get you in trouble. Most print shops are automated now so less risky imo. Most vintage photographs of cuddly men together survive because they were taken/developed by friendly photographers, photobooths, or themselves. 🌈✌

It would seem that despite years of legal repression, men did find love and happiness with each other. I cannot help but wonder at their reaction at the 21st c. and the widespread acceptance in the Western world of sexuality in all its forms.

Thank you! More exquisite photos of people like us from the past!
Persone forse un po' più coraggiose!

@@CollidePress What a beautiful reply. Hope Byron recovers. Byron, you might want to try generic Prozac for depression. It sure helps me.

Hola CP ✔️ another fine archive you've put together.
Thank you…glad you enjoyed it!
I always wonder about taking the negative of a cuddly shot to the photo shop to be developed by a stranger - a leetle risky, yes?

2:20 guy in back looks like Jack Kennedy. 11:29 one of my favorites.
Not sure who the first one is, but that fave of yours is one of mine too. Thanks for watching and sharing!

Who took the pictures?
Not a clue. All were found without credits, sadly.
