I will concur with the other statements, in regard to the lighting, composition, elegance and sophistication. Horst himself was a very good looking younger man! All the photos of people whatever their status, come off well indeed, as well as the other art designs and studies. I must confess that one of my favourites is of the filmmaker and director Luchino Visconti as a young man 8:50, with a dramatic sky in the background. What a stunning, handsome visage!!! "Hubba Hubba"!!

Horst was a genius of light and composition and capturing a sense of elegance in all his compositions. I can see why he would have been the darling of haute societe for decades as well as his becoming a pioneering icon of fashion photography and photography in general.

I find myself fascinated by these photos. They are real people living real lives, the expressions, poses, surroundings, clothing all tell a story. For those of us seeing them today, we do not know the story, but it is or was those people's story and I can say I enjoy being a small part of that moment in their lives. We live in such a tumultuous time, with so much bitterness, hatred, and anger, it is nice to look quietly at those men's pictures and wonder what they were going through.

These vintage images had "soul." For me it begs the question is its absence in contemporary images due to the subject matter or the medium or both??

Everyone should be who they really are without respect to what other people believe they should be. It is an infinitely diverse creation and the creator made room for all of it and we should too.
