I LOVE this style of documenting a trip. No commentary or explanations of what's going on, just snippets, like memories, from your POV. Thanks for taking us with you!
I loved this compilation so much better than any I have seen to date. No annoying music in the background to drown out the sound of the outdoors and the crunch of each step. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for allowing us to share your journey
Joint-Heir with Christ thank you very much 😀 the trail was a huge challenge to complete, wish you could go, you will learned a lot about yourself and other’s, how to surpass yourself...now I feel that everything is possible :-)
I just discovered your video. I’m thinking, how do you only have 289 subscribers?! You have to be a professional photographer. Your eye is so good. I loved hearing the sounds of the trail and nature and the people- you didn’t cover it with music. Loved the macro shots and the epic views. I’m a fan!! Thank you! I feel like I’ve been there!
Thank you so much, this is the kind of comment that motivate me to continue posting more videos!! I want people to go out and climb a mountain or spend a week in the woods, we always need a break from the city and be able to enjoy the nature around us, it's a cure!
I cannot believe the snow you guys had in the Sierra. You told me it was a lot, but my goodness...that looked intense. But also SO beautiful and otherworldly. Thanks for this video, Rudy! Cheers brother.
When I finished the sierra I said to myself that I would never hike again when there will be so much snow, physically really too demanding ... but proud to have exceeded my limits and as you say the scenery was simply out of the ordinary. Cheers to you Jeff!
Thanks for the production. Stripped down. No music. A compliment to the other great productions. I like the way you captured the fauna and flora as well. Great film shooting. 👍
Love this so much! Thank you for creating this view into your journey. The photography is amazing, especially the flowers. You captured the spirit of the PCT beautifully
Inspired by how you took the time to include allthe little things along the trail bugs lizards flowers etc...this makes your video stand out!! great Job!
Thank you for taking the time to write this comment, I appreciated it! We often forget these little creatures, they are a mysterious little treasure that surrounds us, I need to include them!
Really enjoyed the "trip". You did an excellent job with times of day, camera angles, various views, seasons, talk n laughs, sounds of silence and nature! Well done! ...maybe someday :)
Loved it! 👍🔥 Great attention to detail. Going without music was neat choice. It gave a totally different perspective than any other PCT thru hike I have watched. 💪
Thanks for your amazing video and a special huge thanks for letting the journey speak for itself. I heard every word it spoke! What an amazing experience. Thanks !
Outstanding video ❤ ✌ 👣 2019 was my last time hiking the PCT. Starting on New Year's Day (since it was during the government shutdown and no Rangers) and finishing 20 Jun (Solstice) I still had to hike back SOBO to Steven's Pass before hitching a ride to Seattle and catch a bus. Your video brought back fond memories of my home in Nature.
Hey Jim so happy to hear from you!!! That was an unexpected trail magic! In the video: hiking to Kennedy Meadows [ep3] on this channel, at 14:38 we can see more footage about all your magical trail magic! Thank you so much! Will always remember you! Take care!
Very Good. I kept looking to see if I recognized anyone. I recognise the long dreadlocks but I don't know if they were on the same girls head haha . . . I did all of California in 2019 but flipped to avoid snow.
The BEST video doc seen to date, well done! How did you ever filter and choose from such amazing beauty, camaraderie creatures great and small?? Congratulations!
Very nice video of your PCT experiences It was a heck of a year to go through the Sierras and very dangerous . I especially liked your inclusion of the critters and flowers. You have a have a nice eye for video. What camera equipment were you using? I saw that several of the people in your group were just using a phone. I was impressed by the quality of the insect and flower shots.
Hiker SanDiego thank you so much :-) I used the iPhone Xs for video recording and for the macro shots I used the Moment Macro Lens attached to the case.
Hiker SanDiego The Xs was good but the 11 is gonna be amazing, I saw some camera test and it is just better, low light, colour accuracy, picture, video quality...wish I had it!
What camera did you bring?? This was beautiful!! So many of these pct videos romanticize it. This captures the natural, raw beauty. Thank you for sharing this with us!!!
I hadn't seen it from that angle, thank you for taking the time to mention it. I used the iPhone Xs as well as a macro lens that I attached behind it when there were insects or flowers!
What date did you leave Kennedy Meadows? Thank you so much for the classy production. Your video showed the trail, which is much better than an hour of someone's face narrating what the trail looks like.
Thank you Dav, appreciated it! It was June 4th, there was so much snow…you can expect similar conditions in 2023 or even more, are you gonna thru hike it??
Antonia Baker I filmed it with the iPhone XS, for the Marco shots I’ve used the moment macro lens, edited everything with the KineMaster app directly on the phone
What did you use to film this? Excellent quality. At first I was a little skeptical of no music added but I kind of like it. The sounds and lack there of make it more natural. Great video!
@@Ratatrail Awesome! Obviously it had a water proof case as well? Also, did you do your vlog editing on trail using your phone or did you bring an Ipad? I will be starting the ECT in December 2021, NOBO. I just started my own channel (no content yet) and will be vlogging up until then.
@@zeezaweth6088 No water proof case, only the Moment iphone case that you need to attached the lens, the iphone is water resistant up to 2 meters for 30min. I mostly edit my video in town, i was using an app called KineMaster on my iphone its about $5 a month to get the full version, the most completed video editor i tried on a phone, did some video editing before the hike to be able to use it! just subscribed to your channel cant wait to see your hike, good luck!
@@Ratatrail Thanks man! Only thing is I will be vlogging from my other channel "Withdrawn Wanderer". This is just my personal gmail/UA-cam account. Thanks again for the info! I will start off with the trails in my area of Central NY and then be climbing the 46 high peaks of NY as well as completeing the Vermont Long Trail before I head out on the ECT. I will be looking forward to seeing your comments on videos in the future. Thanks again!
Some of these steep ascents don't look like any of the other ones I've seen on YT for the PCT. Ones 20 minutes and before. Alternate route? Off-route peak bagging?
BZO619 2019 was a huge snow year in the Sierra, the trail was under those steep ascents, there was no other way than going straight up to the pass sometimes! No alternate :-)
Great macro photography and minimal commentary. Let the video do the talking. Was it a high snow year in the Sierras? Semi early start in late March - 2 weeks before many.
@@Ratatrail Thank you. I start April 7. You did such a nice job with this video. You have an incredible eye for what's going on around you in nature, and I concur with those who have praised you for going without a soundtrack. Kudos!
