Lost my father to the same addictions Eminem was facing. He was the biggest jelly roll and Eminem fan, and listening to the music my dad used to send me shows me how much pain he was in… I miss him every day. I love you dad. ❤
As a single mom with 3 kids.. listening to this.. I hope their father realizes the same as Em did…. And changes for them.. He’s right… Tomorrow is never promised.. and these are the moments that are worth living for… Nothing is more important 🥺💜 And Love you Scru. ❤
I understand I raised my girls on my own still am they haven't seen nor heard from their father in 10 years. My eldest just graduated high school, and my youngest daughter graduated from elementary school, going to junior high now. And he wasn't there for none of their graduations. I never got support he quit his job just so he didn't have to pay what he was supposed to. The courts awarded 1k a month for our two kids together. I've been struggling and fighting for what is fair and right for my kids since
This song is almost like an apology to all of the kids that never got one from a parent or loved one that they lost to addiction. Just beautiful. Not many songs can make you cry on the first listen, but this one definitely did.
I love how Scru went back to reflect on the honorable dude who got a job instead of ranting about another dude taking care of your kids while you behind glass. He kept the message so positive it’s crazy how he worded it ❤️
Them two make this song compete. It wouldn’t be this perfect without either of them. They both have the same past and it makes it that much more intense.
i wasn't expecting to cry clicking on this video. I've heard the song before but just caught "Sorry I chose drugs over you" and everything came rushing back. My dad was a chronic alcoholic and my mom went to jail my senior year of high school for distributing pills to minors while on coke. Props to Em for getting clean and owning up to his errors. Having 3 kids of my own, I do have to catch myself in what I do give myself to that isn't alcohol or drugs, but can steal time and attention away from them and my wife nonetheless. It's easy to look down on others for giving themselves to drugs while ignoring other things that can still be destructive.
Also important to remember how much people like Em, Royce, and Crook are responsible for normalizing sobriety and therapy in Hip-Hop. Used to all be so stigmatized in the genre.
Hold on when scru started talking about ppl who say they taking chances doing illegal stuff for their kids was a whole truth bomb that needs to be clipped n turned into a youtube short that hit hard he was talking to alotta ppl soul on that
Not a parent but I often times feel disconnected from my parents (not for drug abuse reasons) and I’ve known people who don’t have parents and how it can affect them. This song got me more than anything has in a good while. I love it so much
This hits hard bc i lost my mom to alcohol and she DID miss most if not all my life from 8yrs old on. Tried my whole life to get HER back. Couldnt get the demons hooks outta her though. Everything i e ever accomplished i did for her bc i knew she couldnt do for me. Listening to eminem from 5yrs old on i had a good understanding of a failing parent. And I will say it in every comment i post Scru. Youre videos help bring me a sense of calm n peace n happiness that seems to be absent in my day to day life for the most part so i sincerely appreciate you homie.
The song's concept is literally the album's concept (death of Slim Shady). It's an imaginary song (alternate reality). It's story is what if Eminem died and never got clean from drugs. I mean some of the memories he regretted missing in the song didn’t happen yet.
when i 1st saw the music video i cryed like a little baby, i was not around for the beginning years of my daughters life i was in the middle of addiction, i mean i was in and out me and my wife were still togther through it all but the night my wife gave birth i went out and got high right after, this song hit me so hard, i missed a whole year of my daughter while being in rehab, i didnt get to see he walk the 1st time or talk. im now 6 years sober and im with her everyday and still married i just feel so bad i put them both through so much. but man this song brought up so much stuff.
😢Everybody got so much emotions while listening and watching to this MASTERPIECE!❤The thing, that Em will pass away in the better word one day… gots me in tears😭😭😭
The respect for people just doing the job that's in front of them, doesn't matter if burger king's or whatever. That's gold, man. Let's not let society fools us into believing that there are series A and series B jobs: a job is a job, it's what you do, not who you are. Protect your life, and the people you love.
I'm so glad you said what you said about these Street dudes. I don't work at 9:00 to 5:00 I work 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. everyday and then run my own business after that until 10 or 11:00 every night to make sure my kids are taken care of AND I get to come home to them every single day. I got out of the streets a long time ago. Ain't nothing in the streets but death and disappointment. 🤷🤷
My father's past caught up to him and he passed away last year. He was a user and a dealer...and more. We were never close and i have no good memories of him due to his life style choices. He also never met his granddaughter because of this. I did not expect to hear this and lose it as i have never had a relationship with him. I have always had a list of people i would love to meet and talk to before i die and Eminem has always been #2 on that list because he is a father that changed for his kids but my #1 is Haley. I would love to just talk to her and ask what is it like to have a father that chose to change and live for you. This is my first time ever committing on UA-cam and and felt this was the right song to get my first comment. Much respect.
That beginning clip wasn’t an “awwww” moment, that was him drugged out and Hallie saying “get up!! At least come eat!!” It was supposed to make you feel like “damn that’s fucked up”
Glad to see you back where it all began with the artist that helped start it all. Jelly definitely brings the soul, and I agree with Em trying to remind folks of what abusing drugs can do. Introspective Em is always a W.
As a single mom of twin girls who raised them alone while their dad was in prison for doing street shit & literally being arrested on Oct 3rd, aka their 8th birthday, u made me cry more than the video. Thanks for being one of the good dads❤
I love how is always explaining things that make sense. One of my best reactors/rappers of all time and I consider my self a stan but still know he is in the right...
this album was definitely a return to form , less choppy robotic flows , better choruses sung by actual singers and the ones he did more so authentic to his vocal abilities and less overly processed , more consistent production , more smooth , charismatic and sound focused , less intentional corny punchlines that have been one of his biggest criticisms across the board , favorite release of his in a long time , the most focused & alive he’s sounded in ages
Blessings to all the moms and dads out there doing their best to raise their kids, and also to all the grown-up sons and daughters taking care of their parents. 💪
6:04 This is true, his fans know about his family members and thats because he's let us - he's been so honest with his fans from day 1. And you're right, its so strange seeing them all grown up, you always expect them to be younger because that's when you knew of them - but its also the same with Em. I'll always have a primary image of him as a bleach blonde guy, the way he was in TES. But not only that, as a fan you're so familiar with specifc moments in his life/career as well. The moment he apologizes to Alaina for, about falling in the bathroom - that was when he OD'd. Can you imagine being that young and discovering your parent having OD'd, not responding? Man.
Your a GOAT reactor bro and literally one of my go to UA-camrs to watch at home or at work, new videos or old or sometimes I rewatch your vids just because… 😎 much love from the UK bro 💯
Growing up in a broken home under those conditions was rough. I’ve promised my son he’d never have to grow up that way! I thank God and the people in my small village that helped me.
As a girl dad i have a son and the feeling this song gives about your kids hits hard but once you have a daughter the feeling hits harder. You love youre son and you would hurt or do something you shouldnt but once you have a daughter that feeling amplifies 100 fold
Man… this song just hits so hard. Like I don’t have kids yet but it’s like I feel the feelings of the kids I will have, and the feelings I’ll have for them. Paired with the feelings of my dad who had to grow up in a country apart from me. I don’t even know how to explain it. Oh my god man
Scru this is your realest and deepest coverage yet.. I don’t even have children of my own and I felt what you were saying.. I am curious how you feel about other rappers using Haley and the way Em responded to them and how you would respond in a situation like that.. not to create any bad energy but you are reactor so some light on you personally would be dope

Your right and he has so much soul in his lyrics !!
Them two make this song compete. It wouldn’t be this perfect without either of them. They both have the same past and it makes it that much more intense.
This is the most recent song that made me actually cry
When em raps with a real purpose is when he really shines
goosebumps all over from this video
It takes strength to cry,
It's never been a weakness,
Humans be feelin'.
The video 10/10 jelly roll man dude touches your soul with his voice great reaction bro
It's like you grew up with his kids listening to his tracks for a so long. I feel the exact same way.

@@VladSane like what?

The way you tell stories is amazing!
This is already an emotional song but as a parent or if you know anyone who has dealt with addiction, it hits different
Eminem was hours away from death in 2007, Its crazy to think how life would've been if we lost him then.
Yeah man... 2 hours away from death. I'm so glad he's still around.

Eminem has saved me from 19 years old to today. He hurts and heals. He's unique and it's real life. Thank you for this
The first half of the song he was rapping from heaven. That hit.
You continue to impress me. The truth to the slingers was on point. Love from FL
