Never ever never call the cops.. once doing a bad rainstorm I called 911 dispatch because there was a road near my house that started to flood. The man on the phone started asking me a million questions was interrogating me he started to make me sound and feel guilty about something. Next thing I know they're showing up at my house checking me for warrants. Worst mistake of my life trying to be a good citizen and warm the public of danger.

No, they hardly ever de escalate the situation. They almost always escalate the situation. I was beat half to death by 5 cops in Coos Bay Oregon for doing nothing more than tripping over my coffee table and putting my hand through the window. Which cut me badly. At the time I was just out of the hospital with a broken leg. My wife had come home from the bar and was passed out in the yard. I helped her up and she sobered up somewhat and tended my arm. Someone driving by called the police thinking I was assaulting a women in my front yard. They beat my injured leg and beat me relentlessly. I ended up in the hospital for a week. Then they arrested me and put me in jail. No charges were ever filed as I done nothing. Go figure.
After listening to this story, all I can say is thank christ I am a Canadian, living in Canada. Sad state of affairs. Just crazy.

A couple of years ago few of us were on my friend's porch, drinking and enjoying a nice summer day.
Cop pulls up, says that they got some noise complaints (They didn't, neighbors on one side were out of town, neighbors on the other side were with us, no other neighbors nearby) Then after a few mins, he pulls the whole "Well I need to check your IDs" (We are all early-mid 30s) so we just laughed, thinking he was just kidding. He got super angry, and started threatening to arrest us if we didn't show him our IDs.
We just wanted him to GTFO, so we showed him our Licenses, but one of my friend's forgot his in the car, so he tells the cop that. Cop tells him to go get it, and goes with him. My friend puts his key in the lock to unlock his car, and the cop pulls out his handcuffs and places him under arrest for operating a motor vehicle under the influence.
The best part about it though... That friend's dad is the Chief of Police in the next town over. Probably 20-30 mins later the cop ended up having to come back to drop off my friend after he (I would assume) got his ass chewed out by his boss, because you could just see the salt dripping off of him as he opened the door for my friend.

My grandfather from my dad's side was a traffic cop. In his entire career he only had to pull his gun out once. This was because a guy he pulled over turned out to be an escaped criminal who had stolen the car he had been driving.

A $50,000 amended judgment was entered March 9, 2020 against Robert Huff; and the document also says the “plaintiff takes nothing as to defendants City of Gardner, Kansas, Justin Mohney, and Jeff Brennman.”

So, the cops were called to de escalate a situation, but when they went to the residence, they found the woman sleeping in her bed naked. She was awoken by the cops and repeatedly asked where the gun was. She did not immediately know where it was. she then remembers and reaches for it for them, and then the police shoot her. I'm just trying to understand where the threat was. I don't get it.
