Brilliant Wings × Time to Fight! (Bionis' Shoulder) - Future Connected × Xenoblade 3

- My favorite song of the franchise is back in the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 OST! "Time to Fight (Bionis' Shoulder)" was composed by Kenji Hiramatsu for the Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition post-game Future Connected.
I love the saxophone in new version Brilliant Wings, but I also loved the flute and vocals in the original. What to do but a mashup? Also an extended version, because *of course*.
• Brilliant Wings × Time...
The structure was the hard part to get right.
• The first few seconds are a bit technical, and then once the two tracks get going at the right exact speed, they fit together for two minutes without further intervention. Modern orchestras use clickers to keep an exact tempo, and if you're curious, the new version is precisely 0.8% faster than the original.
• The original's bongos are more freeform, lasting an irregular 10 measures; I recut them to fit the more structured 8 measures of the new.
• At 3:18, I cut out the original for 8 measures; it would play an intense-choir passage that gets repeated at the later key change, so I just let the saxophone take the full spotlight. By this point, each version has enough texture that the other's absence isn't glaring.
• At 3:35 the spotlight is back on the original for 8 measures that the new version has no equivalent to.
• At 3:49 play the final key change of both versions, with the climax heightened by the 8-measure break in the saxophone solo and having held back the intense-choir passage until that point. I keep adjusting the volumes so that every instrument can be heard.

If they perform it live sometime, they should have a "battle" between the flute and the saxophone.
Man now I just want them to remix a bunch of different songs in other games styles. Having brass instruments for 2's OST or Flutes in 1's. Also seems like woodwind instruments are reserved for DLC's.
XenoSymphony needs to be a thing!
Sax is going to take it. Nothing is stronger than a sax.
The sax will tear up most instruments. It's too powerful
All while a piano pulls off sneaky fog beast piece
I bet this is why people look forward to their homecoming as they hear this song when Melia off seers them
This comment is both awesome and disgusting.
Tis but the truth.
And for the people from Agnus/Alrest, welcoming them at heaven's door is Jin with his saxophone
And Lora’s on the piano
And Adam on the flute and Hugo on bass
It's like they composed the remix to complement the original one.
It's crazy how good they sound together.
It’s honestly kind of insane how well the 2 parts compliment each other at 1:03, as well as the beautiful chaos of all the parts at 1:40 resolving at 1:56
Yeah I heard the 1:40 part and was "I can't keep this for myself!"
I just imagine Melia on Sax and Noah on Flute walking though the sunny fields of Milick Meadows to the beat playing this song.
Melia as a Saxophonist is something I didn't know I needed
I'd love to see a fan art of that! Or maybe under a disco ball in Keves Castle.
It would be Melia on the sax, Noah and Mio on the flute, Taion on the violin, Eunie on the drums, Lanz on the guitar, and Sena on the bongos.
@@Noah-k6x2w, I can see this clearly in my mind's eye and it's glorious.
Why this guy's videos haven’t more views? This mashup shows the work behind it, the songs don't have the same properties but he manages to do it without having weird parts. Came for the song analysis and stayed to hear this banger, keep the great work.
I very much appreciate the compliment!
MEANWHILE I'm listening to the SilvaGunner mix of One-Winged Angel and Gangnam Style and cannot believe the talent behind it.

This isn't just fire, this is the inferno 🔥🔥🔥. Thanks for burning my soul of joy !
one might even dare to call it "star searing flames of absolution"
@@romacalor As a Melia main I know this too well.
I've had this on loop since I opened this tab, so about 7 hours ago? Yeah, this is a fuckin' JAM, man.
I'd made an extended version of the original to drive me through when I have to work through the night (along with a handful of high-energy battle themes from other games), so I understand the NEED; let me meet you halfway.

@@NicD Hah, thanks for the extended loop, man!
@@NicD You listen to music to keep you awake when you are working? I couldn't do that. I took Form and Analysis when I was an opera major. It completely changes how you listen to music! Certain pieces of music (especially Philip Glass's Minimalism for me), you could sit there and analyze it for hours!
Its like they were made for each other.
cheers mate your a gem
woah got a rare doodah right here
Hear that Noah? Lanz wants something a bit meatier
ALLLLRIIIIIGHT

IM THE GIRL WITH THE *G A L L*
Good job! ...For some reason, your mix gives the theme incredible staying power! I didn't need to play it on continuous loop. I played it once, and it has been playing in my head since! Despite the kids playing videos in different musical keys! ...I agree with what other people have commented on this video. You do have musical genius... Good job, Nicolas!
Glad you appreciate! I never tire of your compliments.
"Staying power" actually took a lot of work, especially from 3:19 on, to find the right mix of both versions for a balanced climax and the right energy level going into the loop. Both the choir, violins and sax deserved their time to shine!
@@NicD Agreed, and you did everything justice!
@@NicD Well, you deserve my compliment! I mean this. You did an incredible job! Kudos! Take care. Love, Susan
You don't know how long I hoped for see someone do this.
You sir have just gained a subscriber.
I did as fast as I could, look at the date! 🥵
genuine masterpiece nothing will come close to this ever
YES!!! YEES!!! Oh my GOSH thank you!!! I literally just had the epiphany of “WAITAWAITTHERE’SAMASHUP!!”
Now…here I am and here I was.
I love this so much. Thank you.
Even though this is post game content...it's still good to boogey down with on the dance floor. I mean we're going to mop the floor with our enemies in style after all.
Dude you mixed these MASTERFULLY. Bravo man
First version = Incredible, the new arregment = Masterpiece, this mash-up is GOLD. Thanks, you make my day
genius idea! thank you for this
This is my jam
Why does this work so well??? these two songs shouldn’t work well together at all and yet it does. The strings behind the saxophone sound so stupidly good it’s insane
They’re the same song lol, of course they work together
1:40 Those solos overlapping...
Awesome.
Amazing!
I would kill for a FLAC of this to listen to all of that juicy detail.
Bro this is soooo good the flute goes great with the context of Xenoblade 3 as well🥶
Yeah, I was surprised they'd drop the flute in the XC3 version!
@@NicD well, thematically, by the time you get Melia you’ve seen the world’s go back to normal and the need for Offseeing being no longer necessary. Probably a stretch but it’s a cool detail none the less.
Oh, like she's celebrating or something!
Uhhhhh too good. 👍
This is perfection
Absolutely wonderful to get a mashup by someone who knows music, turns what could be a mess into an excellent fusion. Even the chaotic part at 1:40 works out great.
THIS IS A CERITIFIED ALCAMOTH CLASSIC
Damn, 2:43 made me switch tabs back. That comes through so hard.
this is the greatest
This might be the greatest song to have ever graced my ears
subscribed, amazing work!
This is incredible. Thanks for one of my most favorite tracks probably ever.
this is my favorite sounds in the history of sounds ever
this is probably the most music ever
This is the best thing I’ve ever heard
This mashup is what I imagine star power feels like in mario!
This is what I searched for
And I am glad to provide! I mashed this up for my own use but figured some distinguished connoisseurs would enjoy it too.
@@NicD why that’s quite the compliment! Thanks 👍
Damn it take all the likes I can give.
If only we could have done this in my last year of band
This is peak right here
Simply, glorious.
I can’t wait to hear zanzas theme again in dlc 4! Let’s goooo
This comment aged well ua-cam.com/video/Zo8ENJOppak/v-deo.html
This is perfection!
Le sax/jazz me fait énormément penser a la meilleure track de mario kart 8.
Mount Wario sûrement?
Certified banger.
I can somehow imagine this being in Bayonetta 3.❤️
Oh man, this is just PERFECT! Someone needs to get this to them stat so that they can switch out the current version for this!
Also this still sounds like Mario Kart.
The 100th I have to
Absolute eargasm
It sounds awesome!
Going to play this in a streamers video
nicky d really in the studio duct taping two .WAVs together discovering humankind's crowning sonic achievement
It doesnt sound like a Mario kart song anymore!
It never did.
It never sounded like a bad thing to me.
...damn and I thought some of ffx-2's battle themes hit the right Kind of yes
Could not have found this video at a more perfect time. I tried for a while to play both of these songs simultaneously and couldn’t get it just right. Then I found this masterpiece.
Glad to be of help!
If you're curious, the two versions don't have the same BPM, for starters. Then the new version cuts the disco break short, and squashes together the climax and the last key change, as I discuss here:
ua-cam.com/video/JZtljgLIdzI/v-deo.html
@@NicD Oh, is that why the FC one is a bit sharper than the XC 3 one?
@@totalwar1793 I don't hear one as sharper than the other. And in any case, I changed the BPM without affecting pitch.
@@NicD well looks like you already beat me to it I was going to do it on my main channel good job though.
Nicolas? I thought you would like to know, I got my yearly round-up from UA-cam. This particular video of yours ranked as one that I watched a number of times! Right up there with Rhythm of Life and Obsession by See-Saw for ".hack/SIGN"! Kudos, Nicolas! Much love, Susan
