  • If you have ever owned a Subaru or any horizontally apposed engine for that matter then you know that they have naturally bad oiling systems. In todays video we are installing a IAG V2 Pickup and oil control baffle as well as an 11mm oil pump in hopes of fixing that issue and providing reliability for the future.

Great to see that I’m not the only one considering using the stock oil pan with the upgraded baffles. I wondered if it would work together… nice.

I ran it for 25-30k miles on a 500whp build, works fine if you don’t do a lot of track driving. Street car it’s fine

Built a lot of engines, never reuse oil pain and oil coolers , metal shavings get everywhere and are extremely hard to clean

You should use the Mazda Tokyo Roki oil filter. It’s a longer filter and fits Subaru perfectly.

1:06 Using a larger pump than stock can result in higher oil temps due to cavitation

Since you went with the iag oil pan I'm surprised you didn't get the iag modded stock oil pump? Also I hope you primed that oil pump with petroleum jelly before you installed it or you may never get pressure, and have to pull the motor all apart again or risk dry starting. Tanner (Smeedia) learned this the hard way with his RCM oil pumped that was preloaded, but due to heat leaked out and was dry and couldn't pull to pressurize the oil system.

Tanner let the pump sit for a while and the grease worked its way out, he explained it

Get the JDM black ones but try not to get counterfeit ones. There are a lot of scams out there. Wix filters are alittle better. Do some research and see what you think. I’d like to see what you find.

Ya man I know the Wix are better but I am an OEM FanBoy and had it in a kit. It will only be on the engine for first startup. Then we'll get something better. Thanks for the input.

Just FYI. Those “icing” blue Subaru filters are complete garbage. Look it up if you don’t believe me.

Use the Mazda RX8 oil filters. They are bigger with better filtration.

Use the Right stuff gasket maker.. Put it on torque it and all done never leak and don't have to let dry etc..expensive but worth it. esp for subies.
