My body started wasting after a rash of deaths and severe grief. Putting on weight is nearly impossible and I think I have malabsorption. Can grief cause actual wasting? Idk what’s going on. I’ve never been so skinny and I have to force feed myself eggs everyday on top of regular meals to maintain weight. It’s sickening.
I have survived mestatic thyroid cancer ,I have gotten so sick from radiation ,and I too have lost family and friends to death.I have dealt with devastating mal treatment by family and Suffered severe broken heart.I cannot stop loosing weight. Its horid.
When my mum died, I couldn't eat either. I also ended up drinking alcohol more but losing weight. I think a mix of low appetite and stress can definitely make weight fall off you. I hope you find a way forward through your grief soon and that you manage to gain some weight and feel more nourished soon. You got this.
Lot's of good stuff on your channel. I look forward to watching those after I finish my Medical Coding program. I'm actually finished with the classes and I am now doing my Practicum and going doing a CCS Review course to prepare for my national exams. I love learning and have loved the medical field ever since I was just a little girl. Unfortunately my body is not in a place where I could pursue nursing, so I am doing second best thing and doing medical coding. It's interesting, challenging, and we learn something new every day. I suspect just like anything in the medical field. I've had to do many courses that my medical professional friends are surprised of such as medical terminology, pathophysiology, pharmacology and so on, but I absolutely love it. In particular, I have found that Pharmacology and learning about the labs have probably been two of my favorites to date as well as disease process. Anyway, can't wait to view your video's. Thank you, they will be helpful to a lot of people not just those in med school, but nursing and I'm sure even those in my field of Medical Coding.
@@MedicosisPerfectionalis That's sweet of you, thank you. I'm excited to say the least, and also in some ways a bit overwhelmed. So much to learn in such a small amount of time. Anorexia-cachexia is an irreversible process and increasing intake of foods will not reverse the process (with some exceptions - e.g. an acutely ill HIV patient). It is marked by > 5% weight loss over the past 5 months with continuous, involuntary loss of skeletal muscle and at least 3 of [decreased muscle strength, decreased muscle mass, fatigue, anoreixa, or abnormal labs)].
Anorexia is a mental health condition on the desire to loose weight it is not defined by how much a person weighs bcus it’s an eating disorder not a weight disorder
I think medically it just refers to "losing interest" in foods, especially ones you like. It is definitely also a mental condition, so there may be different classifications of anorexia.
Doctor, my father died 6 months ago and it stressed me so much and Im studying very hard for my A level Exam . From 6 months I can see my arms shrinking my wrist is so thin (because my watch band adjustments) and my bones in shoulders are appearing... I think im getting smaller day by day.... But I havent experienced apatite problems yet and also i dont feel any pain or any issue in my body inside I can work and do things same as past... Should I worry about this...
This is what I believe I have..I went to the hospital about a year ago started losing alot of weight lost my appetite don't drink water I don't have an urge for food or liquid other than coffee but I felt fine not sick body and mind felt great and they said they didn't know what was wrong they did blood work but found nothing but now I literally feel like I'm dying..my lungs hurt my muscle mass is gone and paper thin
Dr. Medicosis, let me ask you please. Do cachexic people necessarily have poor appetiite? Ive read somewhere that pediatric patients with marasmus are voracious feeder.
@Medicosis Perfectionalis my Nephrologist said it wasn't, I've lost 2 stone since November n gone from stage 3B kidney disease to End stage renal failure!

but why some patients have incredible appetite but still emaciation and have cachexia? i have one patient though he eat well and everything but still loosing flesh day by day and look old.
Hi doctor, my daughter who has crohn's has had this a few times. It's really scary but acute and with treatment for the crohn's she manages to get back to a healthy weight. I watched her lose 4 stone in two months (she had 2 years flare free ate for England and had a baby so fortunately by the time she lost the 4 stone it wasn't as dangerous as it could have been 🙏 thank the lord and the craving for Cadbury caramel during the pregnancy!) . Anyway even though she's 25 I have become hawk eyed every time I notice her disappearing again then one day when sat with her I noticed that we were suddenly the same size. It was odd since I knew she was in s flare and at the lower end of her weight. I thought it was probably she was starting to recover but I realised I had lost weight myself. I became alarmed since we weighed ourselves and I realised I had lost 2 and a half stone in around 7 months. I had had IBS for years so I figured it was probably that. Anyway to be on the safe side I checked with my doctor. She's ran loads of bowel and abdominal tests and everything is perfectly healthy. But the weight is still just falling off.😬 The only thing noticeable in blood work is pernicious anemia. Is that a cause or is this just a side effect? I have been b12 maxed up but still losing weight. I'm trying to get to 9 stone which looks ok but I'm so tired and I am eating like a horse. What could be going on here?
Play at 1.5x and you will be good to go

Yes grief can cause appetite loss. It's not uncommon. But you need to see your physician.

Do both kwashiorkor and marasmus lead to cachexia ??
Also common in Chronic Kidney Disease
Yes!

feeding urge --> lateral hypothalamus
anterior is cooling. posterior is heating.
Tuberal region--->Lateral hypothalmic nuclei to be specific :)
Are you saying like if you eat a lot of food you become thinner?
Can anti androgens and lack of sun cause this.
what kind of protein source are good for the cachexia patient?,
Eggs free range grass fead meat
but why some patients have incredible appetite but still emaciation and have cachexia? i have one patient though he eat well and everything but still loosing flesh day by day and look old.
Oh yeah and I always get an eye infection or a cold sore on my nose👃
