Your videos have been a source of entertainment, information and inspiration. I am planning on thru hiking the RT this August (my first thru hike). Are there advantages of which direction to travel? Start in Kingston or Ottawa? Thanks!!
Nope. You go uphill ever so slightly NOBO and SOBO until the Narrows. The North section is more natural and the southern section has more road walking … just sayin’
Excellent series. I'm thinking seriously about this thanks to you! What did you do for maps? Any apps or did you print them out? Keep up the good work!
Thanks so much. I used Gaia GPS app on my phone with GPS connection. I downloaded the Rideau trail mapping file from the Rideau trail association website and imported it to the Gaia GPS app… worked great.
dudley, you had mentioned a rash in one of these rideau trail vids. American Dog Ticks carry: rocky mountain Spotted Fever: Symptoms of Rocky Mountain spotted fever appear within 3-12 days, usually beginning with a sudden onset of fever and headache, and frequently followed 2-4 days later by a rash around the wrists and ankles that moves slowly up to the rest of the body.: and lots of these ticks on this trail
Excellent video.. thanks for filming. I feel this trail will one day be discovered and busy & not is the opportunity to experience it without the crowds.
sorry... the 1st 20 kms north is good for a bicycle and then bits a pieces only the rest of the trail... sorry.. I would not recommend it for Bike-Packing

Thanks for the videos. I think the yellow-tipped triangles are southbound and the solid orange are north bound.
You are totally right. Thanks
