As a nurse who worked in critical care areas for decades, I am deeply moved by Jeremy Renner’s demonstration of gratitude to the healthcare workers who saved his life. He is a class act. First responders, emergency department staff, ICU nurses and physical therapists-we didn’t get into our lines of work to get thanks or recognition. Still, it’s very nice when appreciation is expressed.

I'm no big time celebrity, just an old guy who, a few years ago, had open heart surgery. (Mitral valve replacement). Sometime during my second night in ICU, my old motor just decided to stop running. It was a few days later that my daughter explained to me what had happened, and the efforts made by my nurses and my doc. to get me kick started again. After my eventual release from the hospital, I bought a small bouquet of flowers for each nurse on the cardio floor, delivered, and handed them to each nurse. I was struck by how they just looked at their jobs as, "just what we do". No, it's so much more than "just what they, and you, "do". God bless you all.

@@rkf2746As a retired RN (orthopedic surgery for 20 years, general surgery and vascular surgery for 20) I want to say thank you for your kindness. I know from speaking to my patients that you all are amazed that most of us see our work as "just what we do", but that is what we think and how we feel. Our greatest reward is watching you guys recover, go home and continue to live another 20 or 30 or 40 years, and to live it fully. It really is why we do it. And none of us are heroes. We just know it has to be done, and we are willing to do it.

There are three factors that ultimately helped Renner actually survive long enough to actually get treatment to save his life: 1) his age, since he was only in his early 50s; 2) his physical conditioning and fitness due to playing Hawkeye; and 3) most importantly, his neigbour was a doctor and knew EXACTLY what to do - without panic - until help arrived. Renner is in that 1% that somehow had all three factors in his favour - because 99% don't survive this.

The hospital staff looked so happy to see Mr. Renner walking. I've seen smiles like that. My daughter was 2-1/2 months early, being born when I was 6-1/2 months pregnant. She was only in the NICU for 2 weeks but came home at 4 pounds, 17 inches. Instead of a birthday party when she turned 1, we took a teddy bear cake to the NICU to thank them. Three of the nurses who took care of her were there. They got so excited when she walked out of the elevator!

I and millions of others want better balanced news! I worked with Jeremy's Grandma Ruth back in the early 90's. She was very much loved and respected by so many, including me. RIP Ruth. Loved, but not forgotten.❤❤❤

I fully understand why he wanted to do this. I spent time in hospital with a life threatening incident and you never realise not only how hard these nurses work but how resilient and caring they are. I watched them turn up everyday with a smile on their faces and sometimes not leave on time because they were still helping people. Even coming in on their days off to help out on other wards! When you think about what they see and have to deal with on a daily basis you wonder how they turn up everyday with a smile.
I did the same thing. After I recovered I went back with baskets of treats and a thank you letter for all those that helped me and whose name will always now be etched in my heart.

Reno ER staff is awesome, my sister had a case of sudden cardiac death in 2008 and they worked on her from loomis Fargo all the way to the ER. She’s now still with us and on her 2nd pacemaker. Very thankful for REMSA

That was truly awesome. The ER staff nerve get to see what their work actually does for people. They really do like to see your ok. I know this because after I was attacked by a dog I had to go back to the ER to remove my staples. I actually got lucky cu all but one nurse was working that day. Each one came in to see me. They were all very excited to be able to see I was healing. They missed one staple 😂😂😂 even when I had to be flown up to John Hopkins when I went there for the removal of the piece to keep the delicate work they did to my torn off ear. We ran into some of the nursing staff. They even remembered my name too. It’s good for them and you.
    Way to go Jeremy 🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️❤️

Amazing to show gratitude, speaks to his character. And although health care workers do their jobs without expecting it, it is a huge morale boaster to be truly appreciated.
