Just after digging out the driveway and side walk from a 12 inch blizzard with up to 45mph winds I sat down to eat breakfast and watched this video. Really like that cook set up. Really enjoyed the video.
I must have seen this pot a thousand times, both in video and in real life, and yet you manage to hold my attention for the entire video and give me new information. Fantastic presentation. TFS
Glad you enjoyed it my friend, I dont always carry the Zebra Pot but it is a fantastic piece of kit, makes a good sized coffee pot!👍 Take care and thanks for watching.
The dish you prepared is a variation of Shakshuka, an Israeli breakfast. With your culinary skill, it would be easy for you to Google it and customize it to your specific tastes. The little pan on the interior of the Zebra is certainly a handy little gizmo for doing exactly what you did. Always a pleasure to see your videos, nicely done!
Hello buddy thanks for your comment!👍 I am actually aware of that Israeli dish its delicious! You're right this is a variation of it, well done to pick up on that!👨🍳 👍😎. Thanks for watching and for the insightful and informative comment my friend. Cheers!😀
We have a second hand thrift store called Value Village where I live, So far iv'e found two of those Billy Pot's for under $4.00 I always keep an eye out for low cost second hand gear, it just makes sense.
Now that is how to do a review of something most people either have or know of. You turn it into a cool cooking video. As good as anything Steve at Firebox does. Good job Wade
Thank you for the nice video Wade. Looks like a great day in the woods! I really like your billy pot setup! Looks perfect for day hikes. Thanks for sharing. Have a great week.
Very nice breakfast in the bush, Wade! I’ve had eggs like that at home and it’s delicious 😋. Thanks for sharing your pot and bag combo. Happy Sunday, my friend, take care, Nikki.
Thanks Wade! Another great outdoor recipe! I'm going to have to start writing these down because I can't keep up :) I've got a Zebra lunchbox pan which has the same internal small pan but has a long handle that folds and locks out to the side. You can't hang it over a fire but there's absolutely no chance of burning yourself. It works great. I've got a similar bag for it but made of waxed cotton from a guy who makes them himself here in the UK. I also have the nano you were using there - love it, especially how you can just drop it in your pocket! ATB, Mark.
Wade, nice little outing. Ironically I was researching the same dish just now right before watching your video. Shakshuka is a Middle Eastern/North African dish where eggs are poached in a tomato, onion and spice sauce. I think this would make and easy and good dehydrated meal after substituting Ova-Easy egg crystals instead of fresh eggs. Well done!
Hi Kevin I'm sitting here chuckling to myself😀. I actually called it Bushcraft Shakshuka in the video at one point but it didnt make the editing process lol! 😂 Looking forward to your version my friend!👨🍳
Great job Wade :) The food looked well nice.... I think I will try that for my tea this evening!! Yeah, you can't beat the billy pot. I always carry one with me, whether it is storing items or being used for food or boiling water. Love the metal clips. You used to be able to buy them off eBay, but I haven't seen them for a couple of years. Sorry for turning up late, I have been working up in Scotland for a couple if days and just got back home. Always good to catch up with you brother :) All the best, Mark.
Hey Mark nice to hear from you! I hope you had success up in Scotland mate! I've only been using the Billy's for about a year and I cant believe I held off buying one before. Take care, talk to you soon! Wade
Hey I just bought the BillyPot 14cm yesterday at the Outdoor Adventure Show in Toronto... I am definitely going to cook up that recipe as my first meal in that thing . Awesome video and sorry I did not run into you at the show keep the videos coming bud... My show highlight video will be posted an a couple of days.
Woodswalker 1965: The challenge will be the salsa. Not something you find in my local (Swiss) supermarket . They sell 'salsa', but it isn't. I'll have to google for a recipe and make my own, but then that is fun too!
Nice vid Wade, cant beat a zebra billy pot. Ive got the 12 and 14cm versions. I modded my 12cm with a wire bail and bought the 14cm with the metal clips. Thanks for sharing mate, the cheese bannock looked tasty. Take care.
In the bottom of your " bowl" place some ham/ or fav kind of pre cooked sausage n then put your salsa on top n egg , just an idea!? Enjoyed the vid .. Thanks for sharing! ATB👍😎👍!
Woodswalker great video I do something very similar with my eggs in the Bush with my billypot love that set up I make ham briskets and eggs in the top boiler coat the bottom with a lot of butter and a thick piece of ham brisket mix and then throw in an egg and cook. I check the website and the covers for all the billy pots are sold out as of right now
Salsa Con Eggios:) nice. Good warming food, for sure! I have yet to get a nice pot, been using milsurp and yardsale stuff all my life... but that is a very nice, compact setup.
I've only discovered the Zebra brand now, while looking for a better (well, cheaper really) alternative to a small titanium pot. This looks like a decent pot .. Might buy one
Great video Wade. I would love to know where to get that haversack. I really enjoyed watching and have a great day my good friend! Rudy do and I are grilling out a T bone tonight. GOD BLESS YOU ALL!! Tennessee
oooooooh im only 1:40 in and i like that bag already.....where do i get metal locking pins 👀 ? please tell me you brought the red hanky or necker to match your shirt LOL for that perfect colour coordinated shot , it looked real tasty BTW nice job Wade 👍
Hi thanks for sharing it's a great pot it's stood the test of time could you provide the link for the pot bag like the second one fir the stove stay safe
Hi John there is a link to both the pot and the bag in the description. The Wilderness Innovations bag comes in 2 parts. It's all included. Thanks for watching ! 👋
Thanks for watching and commenting! Yes the clips are great for sure, but no the lid isnt vented. It seems to work great as it is for me although I have seen people drill holes in the lid for venting. Take care👍
Looks like “Huevos Rancheros” to me. That’s a fairly common breakfast the closer you get to the Mexican border. Google it for pictures etc....it’s served many ways including the way you’ve shown as well as with the eggs scrambled in a tortilla.
I love Heuvos Rancheros but I thought it usually had some refried beans? Whatever we call it buddy it's good eats haha!😀 Thanks for the comment, I know what I'm having for breakfast tomorrow, heuvos rancheros Cheers!👍
I have a 16 cm and I recently bought the 10. I wish I had purchased the 12 as the 10 has the plastic clips and I can’t find any metal clips for the 10.
Great spoon, of course. I carved one too, but mine is not as nice as yours. Maybe ill try carving a wooden cup, why not. Maybe it will work (but probably not😁). And who knows, maybe youll try it too someday in a little vid? I would appreciate that. Thanks for inspiring and entertaining. Like you and your channel a lot

Fabulous cook out. Great 12cm Zebra storage pouches too. But must be warm if you aren’t wearing your Boreal coat 🧥 or manic coat.
Thanks a lot! Yes it was hovering around -3c that day. Too warm for hiking with a anorak. Take care👊

Definitely will have to try that on my next outing.
It's pretty dang delicious my friend! Thanks for watching👍
Great little pot set for an outing in the woods. I'm going to look into them as mine aren't as user, or carry, friendly.

You are the Bushcraft Betty Crocker!
That pot is quite amazing with the lid set-up like that I love it.

Woodswalker 1965: The challenge will be the salsa. Not something you find in my local (Swiss) supermarket . They sell 'salsa', but it isn't. I'll have to google for a recipe and make my own, but then that is fun too!
It's similar to shouksuka a Israeli dish but easier to prepare, if that helps at all. Enjoy!
Thats about as easy a trail recipe as it gets, I’ll put that one in the memory bank😉
Yup pretty easy, and clean up is really quick as well! Thanks for watching 👍
Nice vid Wade, cant beat a zebra billy pot. Ive got the 12 and 14cm versions. I modded my 12cm with a wire bail and bought the 14cm with the metal clips. Thanks for sharing mate, the cheese bannock looked tasty. Take care.

Man salsa and eggs is one of my fave things EVER. mine ends up with cheese on it more often than not.
Cant go wrong with cheese buddy!👍Thanks for watching!

Great vid with some great gear and recipes. Tell us about that buffalo plaid shirt. Brand?
Thanks very much for watching! The plaid jacket is from Woolrich, about %85 wool I believe. Very warm and durable. I love it👍
@@Woodswalker1965 Thanks! Thought so
👍
Nice setup what kind of knife was on your strap, looked similar to a tracker
Thanks brother. The knife is actually a LTW GNS. I have had it over a year now and will review it soon! Thanks for watching!
Really like the sheath, good to see the review
Hopefully soon!
I have a 16 cm and I recently bought the 10. I wish I had purchased the 12 as the 10 has the plastic clips and I can’t find any metal clips for the 10.
Hey buddy! I just found out the 10cm has been discontinued, I guess most people prefer the 12cm. Thanks for watching 👍
Yeah I should’ve just bought the 12. I was thinking about saving weight lol
👍
Nice kit ! Did you try the mors bush pot?
Thanks! Not yet, I have a aluminum pot similar to the Mors Pot in aluminum. It's a good size.
What you're doing with the eggs and salsa is more like shakshuka than huevos rancheros. It's a Mediterranean / Middle Eastern breakfast dish 😉
Very true, thanks for sharing my friend! Take care👍
Now im hungry 😄 Do you have carved your wooden Cup on your own? Another nice video. Enjoyed it
Haha, go make some eggs and salsa👨🍳😀! I didnt carve my kuksa it is from Kupilka. I did carve the spoon though. Take care👍
I've been wanting to carve a kuksa, maybe I will try it soon!👍
Neither one of mine came with a bag. I had to make one.
Thanks for watching. The bag is sold seperately. If you have the means to make one yourself that's awesome!👍
Looked like a good breakfast kinda like shakshuka.
Yes it is, very good call on that one!😎👍Thanks for watching my friend.
We call stuff like that "mess". That would specifically be "salsa breakfast mess"... I would have used 2 eggs and maybe some cheese on that one, personally.
Looks great, tho. Winter camp food is the best, ain't it?
Hey Joe, yes an extra egg would have been great and you cant fo wrong with cheese! Thanks for watching brother!👍
It resembles the Turkish food of 'menemen'.
Thanks for watching, yes it does thanks for commenting!
