I don’t plan on having a baby for a while but I love saving these videos for when the time comes. Thanks so much for the tutorials and inspiration Katherine 💚💚 Congratulations!!!
Thank you so much for this video!!! I am scouring the internet for info on sewing wool diaper covers... I'm curious, how much fabric did you use to make all of those 4 covers? And I can't find a link for the free pattern.. congratulations again!!
I used 2 metres, as I recall. 🙂 www.katherinesewing.com/post/how-to-sew-wool-diaper-covers-longies-and-soakers The two patterns are linked in the blog post above. "Katrina's" patterns. 🙂 Thank you and good luck with your project!
Do you still use these wool diapers? How do you like them? I am sold on using wool diapers vs PUL diapers and would love to make my own wool diapers! Also, did you order the 97% organic wool/3%spandex Interlock-Extra Soft Feltable?
Yes, these wool diaper covers form the waterproof layer of a cloth diaper. As to whether they are historical, yes and no. Yes, wool diaper covers were used historically as a waterproof outer layer, but they would have been knitted or crotched from wool roving (I have also made one of those types 🙂). These are a quicker version made by sewing wool interlock fabric which is only available in the modern era. 😊

Thank you! 🥰
Also very sweet and soft like the chemises. 👶🏻🥰
these are amazing!! can i use a virgin wool blanket as the fabric?
Would it be possible to do this with an old wool sweater and hand sew?
Yes, definitely!! My first pair of wool longies was made with a wool sweater ☺️ You can use the sleeves for legs 👍
@@KatherineSewing thank you 😊 x
I have just done that, actually all the pants are just the sleaves, and did it by hand to, 😊
@@Thermototable Wow, that is great! Good for you!
In regards to preshrinking the fabric, did you use hot water wash or cool?
A couple questions!
How much did the fabric shrink in the pre-wash?
And how much stretch is in interlock fabric?

Nice! I've wanted to try sewing wool diaper covers, but I probably won't get a chance. Thanks for sharing the steps. 💜 Heidi
So nice to see your comment ☺️ I watched several of your EC videos when I was pregnant ♥️
@@KatherineSewing Hi! Did you end up practicing EC? How did the wool covers work out?
@@ECpeesy Yes! We've happily been doing EC for some time ☺️ The wool covers have been
lovely because they are so easy to pull up and down. 🙂
