This is the best explanation of the VPX that I’ve found do far! Thanks for it. Still not sure if I like everything going through a single “magic box” that can go up in smoke or 20 years from now, if they go out of business and the “box” dies, then you have to re wire everything? I like the simplicity and independence of the old fashioned circuit breakers…but this does seem to clean things up.
Great video Mike and explanation of the VPX system - I'm sold. I also love the look of those adjustable cable holders. We don't have McMaster Carr over here but I have found similar on Amazon so have ordered a pack. Do you think the self adhesive will be sufficient by itself to last over time or are you beefing them up with epoxy?
Thanks Steve. The more I understand and work with the VP-X, the more I like it! I am using the stick on cable ties as is. Once on, they are difficult to remove, but not sure how they will last over the years. We use them and the stick on pads for tie wraps at work all the time and they last forever. (non-aircraft environment...)
@@KaretakerAero The sticky/foam adhesive on those clips can degrade over time - after 5-10 years they start to come off if there is any vibration/tension on the wires. I wired my model train layout with them and am regretting it 🙂 On the other hand, if you like their locations, you can easily drill a hole thru it and rivet it to the bulkhead - rivets are forever.
Howdy John. I agree they may not last forever and I am fine switching them out as needed. Like you said, over time if I don't need to change and/or make upgrades, I can switch over to a more permanent solution.
Howdy Edwin. Not sure what connectors you are referring to; the wire connectors all came with the various avionics equipment wire kits and the plastic stick on wire holders came from Mcmaster Carr.
Howdy. No; the VPX is the electronic circuit breaker system and power supplies, (2) to distribute power. My back up power supply is the IBBS box. (Integrated Battery Backup System)

Where did you get those larger bundle connectors?

@@KaretakerAero thanks and howdy, it was the stick on connectors. Similar stage on my RV7 and I liked their simplicity.
VPX this is backup battery pack?

@@KaretakerAero how does battery or alternator power come to the VPX unit?
Vertical Power also sells a Primary Power System, PPS. I have this unit that takes battery/alternator power and feeds the VPX.
