My favorite moment of mindfulness is during my breakfast, I try to be present and only to pay attention to the food that I'm eating. I usually dedicate 30 minutes to my breakfast.

When I first started learning to say "no," someone asked me to do something and I explained that I was flattered to be asked but was working on saying no. The other person said, "Oh that's a good idea! Good for you! I should do that." Sometimes openness wins the day! 😃

I also think that once in a while if you have an unproductive day… It’s OK… Don’t beat yourself up over it. As a society in general we need to learn how to relax. Unplug… And disconnect…🙏🏻💛✌🏻

One of my treasured quiet moments is when I do my ironing. I know that most people hate ironing, but I've always enjoyed it, as it's an opportunity to take time to reflect while I'm restoring my clothes and linens to their best, crisp selves.

Hi Vera, it's lovely to have you back! I have been saying 'no thank you' more recently. I find that if I am polite and don't ramble or explain why I'm not doing something, people actually don't mind and the world won't cave in- who knew?! Now I can focus on the people and invitations that bring greater value to my life. x

    • @SimpleHappyZen
      @SimpleHappyZen  4 роки тому +2

Exactly!! :) I also find it much easier to just say 'no thank you' instead of trying to explain myself. And like you said, it's not awkward, people just accept it and everyone moves on :)

For me,mindfulness comes in the form of fully enjoying my meals alone. But even that is hindered by time spent online, like some overpowered body or nervous system. The urge to just check up something, or being ungrounded and spacey even though i have no digital distractions and a serene environment. it gets better with time.

When I started to say no, some people thought I was ill. But in fact I feel so much better since I limited the amount of events to one per week. For example: If I have to meet the teachers of my son in this week, I will ask my friend to postpone cinema to next week.

Something I realize I do not do enough!.. Saying no is still a struggle for me!.. Great tips.. Thank you x

Hi Andea! :) I don't really make dedicated food videos on this channel, because not a lot of people are really interested in them. I do have a What I eat in a day: ua-cam.com/video/PvlYUHV9v9s/v-deo.html and a video about meal planning: ua-cam.com/video/wGkK5qOmEGs/v-deo.html that you might be interested in. Most of my go-to meals are actually recipes from Madeleine Olivia, so I recommend checking her blog out as well :) They are usually very simple and they don't need a lot of different ingredients. Good luck!

I have a weekly meal plan. Every week is the same as I don’t get bored easily. If I feel like trying something new I just ignore my plan, but it is great for every day: I know what and when to cook and I can see if I need to add more fish or more greens... Regarding wrting down your to do list, it also helps you not forgetting anything and letting your mind rest. When you write down something you get to forget about it and disconnect.

Hi, my mindful moments/activities are walking in nature in the morning and afternoon.
In the morning it has to do with working out or brisk walking and sitting on the grass undisturbed.
In the afternoon it’s usually a stroll in the park after work for decompression and mindfulness and contemplation, also sitting on the grass if i find a remote area with no people and just let the silence sink in.
This routine i found helps me and it’s within the natural flow of life it’s not something that feels like manually scheduling things, or trying to swim upstream.
I let go of the rigours and created myself a routine more like a guidline with the time intervals determined by how it feels good, not a strict schedule to abide to.

The area I struggle most with is saying "no", especially at work because I want to perform well. Thing is, saying "yes" all the time at work actually had the opposite effect than the one desired, as saying "yes" to everything meant I would take on too much and be unable to deliver! Now I'm being more honest about my limitations and bandwidth. If I'm asked to do something and I already have a full schedule, I will explain that I would love to help but unfortunately cannot take on any more, and I wouldn't want to promise now and fail to deliver later. People have universally appreciated this upfront honesty as it's best for everyone in the long-run. If it's my boss asking me, I will ask them what they would like me to prioritise the most and what I might be able to delegate. It works really well!
Thanks for the great video as always, Vera. You are inspiring as well as down-to-earth.

I've been practicing minimalism for about a year, still looking for new ideas. Just found your channel, these tips are very important, I need to focus on the " saying no" and I'm def going to try the phone idea. That's going to be hard, because after a long day at work ( I still drive to my job) I relax by watching UA-cam videos!! New sub here 👍

Nice easy and realistic tips, adaptable to various types of individuals and lifestyles. I feel like many minimalists preach how to simplify our life, while demonstrating how to fill up every minute of our time with « how to be more productive », or « how to organize your life », which defeats the purpose of having a simpler life in my opinion. I don’t simplify to work more and tighten my schedule, I simplify to have freedom and flexibility. That’s why I enjoy your channel so much, there is always room for downtime in your tips. Cheers! 😃

Thanks Dominique! I completely agree, that's also why I never make productivity videos. :) Of course there's nothing wrong with being productive but there's already so much content out there that discusses it, I feel like the other side is misrepresented haha

@Simple Happy Zen Thanks Vera! I agree with being organized as it helps save us time, for example I really enjoy meal prep. I also freeze many individual portions so I always have something ready if I’m lazy or in a rush. I just add fresh veggies or salad.

A very necessary video for me to watch, thank you :D Schools are starting again next week and I'm (slowly) starting to prepare mentally for routines and a new rhythms. My problem is trying to organise my time. I feel like I have to do everything and preferably all at once, and by the end of the day I'm exhausted. I'll probably have to watch this video again (and the one with 30 ways to simplify your life) a few times to properly internalise everything. Thanks for helping to keep me on track!

I don't know if it's the new equipment or new makeup or not but it looks like you've gotten some sun. Your complexion doesn't have the same porcelain tone to it and it looks like some cute freckles coming in. It's not a bad thing either way (you're pretty) I just noticed the difference immediately. I figured you guys are opening back up so you're enjoying the outdoors more. 😁 I also love the snapshots of your country. I'd love to visit one day after the pandemic.
