love watching Brenna pulling the roots up.
It was a proud mama moment for me! 😁
A tree root pulling dog! Wow she's a great helper ❤
Looks like Brenna was a great help today!💕
She really was! I was so proud of her 🥰
🐾Brynna’s Root Removal Service🐾
Jenny, you couldn’t have picked a more gorgeous spot for your Woodland Garden! Can’t wait to see it grow! And please give that beautiful Brynna a big, lovin’ hug for me❣️🌲🌸 🍃🌺🍃
Funny I enjoyed watching Brenna helping you digging the holes, she is a good helper
Since y’all are making so many new strolling and sitting spots at the nursery, it would be really cool to have a little coffee/tea stand for customers to buy from while they’re walking around! Just an idea:)
A coffee shop at a nursery! What a fabulous idea!
❤ 🐶, such a good strong girl helping her mama with the roots. So proud of her 🤗
Jenny, you could add a nice wandering path throughout the shade garden just by raking leaves aside
Brenna was a super fabulous helper today! Made me laugh! As always, everything is beautiful! Thanks for sharing your planting day!
Love the plant tags! I do the same with the date - especially with the year a tree was planted.
I spray or dip them into Exterior Matte Sealer.
Peaceful planting time video today. My German shepherd used to help garden when asked to tug on a limb and on some occasions we tugged together. Nice to see Brenna doing the same. Very smart dogs. Thanks.
Love watching you plant your gardens. One day at our feeders we had 4 pair of cardinals. Got a pic of 3 on our lilac waiting their turn.
Good morning, Jenny☕️ What a fun project. Your shade garden is going to make Mimi proud! Have a Blessed Day 😊🐶
Thank you, you too!
We so appreciate you and Brenna!❤
I need Brenna’s help in my garden!!!😂😂😂 she’s so Adorable!! Love the choice of shrubs! TFS!! Big Hugs& Blessings!!💙💙🦋🦋🙏🙏
Thanks Jenny. Brenna is adorable! 🥶❄️💚🙃
Can’t wait to see what all you put into this area.Of course the best part about a woodland garden is it mulches itself
Jenny, I had to laugh out loud along with you when Brenna pulled the roots out! Such a good sweet
doggie! 🤣 Such a fun video! Linda
What a beautiful spot to hang out in on a hot summer evening.
She's a great helper and it looks great !
When my toy poodle hears your voice she wants on my lap so she can watch your video so she can see Brenna. Love your channel, fun to see how you have grown. Wishing you much success!
Love that!
This is actually the sweetest 🥹
A lovely addition to your view out of your kitchen window! Anticipation is half of the fun where gardening is concerned. 😀
It really is!
Yay for the shade garden, I have always enjoyed your Mama's Garden and now we have a piece of it at your place. CAN'T WAIT
It was a great video Brenna do a wonderful job pulling up the roots! The birdies were have a fun time!
They are going to look beautiful in summer 🥰🥰
Love the tags. Garden will be enjoyed from your window.
Yes, us 5 ft 2 in girls can handle a lot in the garden! Go Jenny 🙌🏻😊
This woodland garden is going to be beautiful! I so enjoy using my new 5” power planter auger with my DeWalt cement drill. I am 79 and been retired for a few years now and don’t have to wait on my husband to dig my holes for me. My garden is my passion! Your videos are so informative and motivating!
I have do a lot gardening myself but i am not very strong. Is the drill heavy?
Is it easy to control?
I have a small battery pack drill with a set of augar so i can dig holes.
But it is give powerful twist and cause my hands to twist with the drill.
@@cajunlady4893 yes, the DeWalt Cement drill is heavy but it has the e clutch on it to keep it from twisting your arm. It will stop.
This is going to be so gorgeous! I hope to see it when it’s settled in this June.
You are SSOOOO making me want to get in my flower beds. To cold and wet here in southern WV, but none the less, I still want to get in the dirt. Brenna was cracking me up pulling those roots out!
Such a good idea to leave them there to see how they do in the spot before committing to it
Simple, yet genius advice from Tina that is so practical ❣️
Brenna is quite the hard working garden dog. Loved seeing her help you with the roots 😂😂😂
The deer are voracious here in my part of the woods, they even snack on my foxgloves and monkshood! Nothing is safe outside my fences, so I'll just live vicariously through you!
Thank you!
Brenna is a great helper. Takes care of the roots for you.
Great tutorial and information on shade gardening.
Going to be beautiful! I have mostly shade beds around our yard. Problem I have, everything I love for the shade, the deer do too. 😅
Surprised your momma isn’t with you since she is the Queen of shade gardens
Jenny, You will love the Big Band hydrangea! I planted one 2 years ago and have loved the continuous blooms! Enjoy!
I'm very excited!!!
Loved this video! Makes me want to get out there and plant, plant plant! And I’m a big fan of the songbirds too!
Hi Jenny. Now you have the best of both worlds… Sun & Shade. How exciting! I’ve always wanted to get my hands on Florida Sunshine Illicium… Love all your choices… as a woman in her 50’s I sadly garden alone… my hubby don’t lift a finger in this department. Not his passion, I get it. So count your blessings with Jerry. You did a great job without him. 👏🏼 ❤
Phooey! This video has inspired me to go out into my garden to evaluate an area which has transitioned from sun to shade. My plan has been to rethink, relocate, replan this area at the first hope of Spring. Now I want to get out today to plan, shop and install the new vision. Alas! the expected days and days of rain have arrived here so, like my pup, I pace from window to window, nose pressed to glass, pining for a hint of blue sky 😂
I love it!!! Dream big!
What a sweet girl that Brynna is 💕 My little buddy Franklin is my helper too. When I’m done with a pot he grabs it up and runs and runs with all that puppy energy 🥰🐶
The garden is going to be beautiful!! Can’t wait for them to bloom! 😊
So nice!
I love a shade garden too. Will you add hostas and ferns someday? You have such a sweet garden assistant!
Absolutely! I want to add the rest of my “big” shrubs and then fill in with the perennials
Loved when the dog is helping with planting. Great job darling. Thanks for sharing this with us.🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Two paws up from my Miss Birdie here, I think this is her favorite Brynna show 🐕🐕🐕🐕
Love the plant selection, will be checking out the plants from Plants Delight! Good job Brenna!
Good morning
I really have been enjoying your winter videos. Always inspiring and informative!
Awesome! Thank you!
Brenna is such a great helper!❤🥰😍
What a good girl Brenna is!!!! And…do you not have squirrels? I would love to have bird feeders but I have squirrels everywhere! 😞 Love your new shade garden. 🪴 😎✌🏻
Excited about the new Woodland garden, keep up the good work!
Thank u so much for the info.
I will put the cement drill on my wishlist
I have an area to create a woodland garden as well. So looking forward to hearing what plants you pick.
Good morning Jenny and all.
Great video! I gasped out loud when you mentioned planting rhododendrons! I’m in 7b and can’t wait to see which variety you plant!
I love the shade plants, I don’t have a lot of shade,so I guess I have shade envy 😂! Brynna is so beautiful, love her antics ❤
That's going to be beautiful!! Can't wait to see it this summer!! Brenna is the perfect garden companion!! Can she come remove some pesky roots for me?? Lol! I'm getting a new puppy this spring, let's hope I can train her as well!
Such a satisfying project to watch. Native Azaleas (the large ones) and evergreen Rhododendrons are show-stopping spectacular in the spring, too. I have both in my shade gardens (Zone 7-8) at the back of the borders.
Love FL Sunshines!! We planted 3 large ones last January along the north side of our house. Thought that they'd be in part shade/shade all summer. Nope. Got some hot AM sun but handled it beautifully. No scorch. Grew tons. Love the color pop. We also did Miss Scarlet illicium there. Again, got more sun than anticipated, but absolutely no issues. Waiting for the lovely blooms on Miss Scarlet later this winter. I like that you are using the natural leaf litter as mulch. Ours is pinestraw, always dropping fresh, but need to "rearrange" it 😂 where it's needed. Thanks, Jenny!
Good morning ☕️
So excited to see this garden grow. I have lots of shade and I never know what to plant. Any suggestions for an eastern exposure part shade to shade foundation planting zone 5b?
Great work Brynna! love the beautiful shades of green you've blended here with the illicium, fatsia and camellias. Another amazing thing about winter gardening (for those who can) is seeing where you need evergreen or other structure. I'm slowly remedying this in my gardens.
Yes!!!!
I don’t know if vine maples do well in your area but they would look great in the woodsy area 💚
Watching you from Delaware.
Jenny are you going to leave the ground leaf covered and woodsey or are you going to put mulch around the area you are planting to make the plants kind of pop like a back drop? I have a similar area I’m going to plant and I’m torn between the two.. I like the wooded look of the ground with pine needles and a few oak leaves that are fallen but I’m not sure about not having a defined area that will tell me where the bed starts and the woods begins? Pluses and minus of each in your opinion??
Also what a good boy helping with root removal!! My dog (boxer) likes to help me do that too.. and trim the lower branches and tree saplings that pop up and lower branch removal too!! Gardening with a friend is always more fun ❤
Love me some hydrangeas
I am doing the same too! Just out there thinking what shade liking evergreens and shrubs to block the wetlands
I really want to plant some Camellias since we share the name but I don't have much of the shade the 2 trees I had need to come down because of a fungus infestation. They were really pretty purple/burgundy leaves but now that's done. I will still plant one by the house that I think it's going to be a little more protected. Will see! Blessings 💞🙏
See if you can find camellias from the Southern Living Plant Collection - specifically part of the October Magic series. They are sasanquas that thrive in sunny areas!
I have 6 Florida sunshine anise in my back garden. 3 are in the sunniest part of garden full sun. 1 part shade and 2 mostly shade. 8a metro Atlanta. All of them look amazing
Are they on irrigation?
Yes they are on irrigation. Not drip. Just the grass type of irrigation and I also hand water as needed
@@patriciamcgonigal2688 that’s fantastic!
I see you have your assistant helping you today
Question about vermillionaire-love everything about it except it is a Japanese beetle magnet. Any suggestions to help, or another plant option that the hummingbirds will love as much but does not bring the beetles?
Great video. So funny watching your Helper pull roots 🩷
Do you have an issue with squirrels attacking your bird feeders?
Also while I’d love the Power Planter & drill, I have Southern Virginia clay soil, that’s a big investment for the average gardener who may only use it a few times 😢. Any alternative advice?
Hi Jenny, what do you do about the deer?
Hi 👋 Jenny
Jenny - good morning! Just curious why you all don't ever use pieris japonicas when you are working in low light or shade areas. Do they not do well in your area? They are one of my favorites because of their "all year" interest. I am in Knoxville, TN.
I love pieris also! Deer proof for me. Gorgeous structure with red tinged leaves in the winter. Annapolis, MD - 7a/b.
I forgot to ask in my comment earlier, where did you get your hangers on the trees for hanging the bird feeders? I have a problem with the squirrels getting into my feeders!
I ordered them from Etsy 😊
Do they make a candle that smells like fresh spring soil?
That could be our next piece of merch!!! 😂
I tell myself the same lie about remembering what it is 😹.
Question. Can 3 hours of sun in the morning and 3 hours in the afternoon sun, be counted as 6 hours of sun. For a Hibiscus, for example. By the way, I'm in zone 5.
Possibly. I say try it and see what happens. If the plant doesn’t get enough sun then you will notice that it doesn’t flower as prolific and the color may not be as rich.
@@GardeningwithCreekside thanks for the information. 😁
Aren’t afraid to use the auger in the woods? I can’t dig in my yard without hitting tree roots because I live on what was woods except for my side yard
🙋
My woodland garden failed....for now 😅. The bugs, animals and poison Ivy won this round. I am going to try again once I overcome my fear of snakes. I am getting better. I stood still long enough to take a picture after zooming in ... from far away 😂
Are there any kind of plants that keeps snakes away?
@@cajunlady4893 I hear there are a few, I am going to be testing out lavender and Marigolds in the front garden. Since the woods is their home I won’t plant any of those over there 🙂
Friends, take Jenny’s advice on the Power Planter AUGER! We use ours all the time. But the best advice Jenny gives here, is to use the correct drill! Do NOT use with an electric drill. I’ve got the receipts and screws in my hand to prove it will do exactly what she says.
Unfortunately you've become my go-to story on why NOT to use an electric drill 😪
@@GardeningwithCreekside best advise you gave me was to get the right drill & get back up the horse so to speak! I’m a boss with my Power Planter now that we have the DEWALT 60V Cordless Drill For Concrete Mixing, E-Clutch!
@@GardeningwithCreekside
What kind of drill?
I have a battery pack drill with a set augers.
I know i hit a root and it twisted my hand. It happens do fast.
So how is your different?
@@cajunlady4893 the one I use has an E Clitch so it automatically cuts off when it hits resistance.
I think they don't like any plants in the mint family
WOW IT blows my mind evertime i see you red dirt/clay dry. Like blood red. I am from TN and we have clay but not like this. Gosh!
