A mate of mine had the original V10 TDI Toerag and he said it was horrifically expensive to run (for reference, he previously had a twin turbo RX7). Oil was consumed at a similar rate to diesel, and when the boot struts failed he had to keep a length of 2x4 in the car to prop up the boot opening, which was heavier than the moon.
1st Touareg was amazing, it had everything you could dream of. The phase 2 was so cool looking and drove well. Got big and cheap feeling after that. This new one looks ok, but is not deserving its price tag. The new interior looks great until you touch it.
You hit the nail on the head with the SUV and Kid seat thing.....pisses me right off. We had a '03 Lexus RX that easily fitted a Cybex ISOFix seat with no problem and still allowed it rotate. That got rear ended by some whopper in a Q7 and was written off, our coutesy carr was an Alfa Stelvio - beautiful, quick etc, but to fit the same car seat behind the driver I was sitting so close to the steering I was almost in the Engine Bay. It was the most uncomfortable driving experiance ever and i've driven a 'Chevy' Matiz at 6'4"..... How car such 'large' new cars be so.....small!
We have ‘17 Alltrack and ‘18 new model Touareg. The Touareg is bigger in every way, but not by a huge margin. The Touareg is more luxurious, and more refined and in so many ways a nicer car. For twice the money though.....it tows 3500kg, which is far more than Passat, at 2200kg. The Touareg retains the Torsten centre differential giving true permanent AWD, whereas the Passat has taken on the multiplate clutch, Haldex, , only directing drive to the rear on demand.
Is that optional screen off an Audi? Just with a different GUI, maybe? It strongly reminds me of the new A7/8 screen that's angled towards the driver a bit in its trapezoidal housing.
The comments on child seats are true of a lot of Large SUVs, we had an Alfa Stelvio courtesy car once and could not fit my Kids isofix seat behind me without my driving position being awful, yet it’s such a large car.... I don’t get where all the space goes..
Who is going to actually buy a new Touareg with their own money? Surely going to be one of the biggest depreciating cars after dieselgate no matter how good it is.
Can your make a video on your thoughts and views of light car interiors ? Pros / cons shades/colours you like or not etc Cheers PS i mean current cars not classics
Please let's go back to real dashboard buttons. I feel very lucky that I got the 2017 Golf GTI, because it still has physical buttons. I guess the big screen "high-tech tone" sells cars but it must be causing accidents as well.
You may want to switch on the closed captioning and see what comes up at your initial message from your sponsors at the very start of your videos. I suspect you are confusing the deaf mightily!
I had a 1st gen Touareg. It was easily, by a VERY long way, the worst car I have ever owned. So many faults, water leaks, build quality problems and so on. I lost a ton of money on it as well.
@@TheLateBrakeShow Looks like it! For example, the 2.5Tdi doesn't have an alternator belt - it has a rubber coupling driven straight from the crankshaft that runs the freewheel on the alternator pulley. All good until the freewheel invariably seizes, stripping the teeth from the coupling. A new coupling and freewheel is almost £200. And the a/c compressor uses the same set up so you might as well change that as well. Changing them involves, amongst other things, removing an engine mount. So that's the best part of £400 in parts, and day's worth of swearing to do what would be a simple 20 minute job on any normal car. When I bought it (mine was black with blacked out windows) people said it looked like a drug dealer's car. I quickly realised that drug dealers drive them because they're the only people that can afford to run the bloody things.
You need to do what they do in F1 and MotoGP to show off the watches keep messing about with your hair or rubbing your eye but make sure you are wearing a Tee shirt. It doesn't look so awkward
Put subtitles on and watch the intro,
Thank me later
Absolutely!
Mr Porter........a man after my own heart. Drives a 4x4, sees an open gate, wants to drive off road! Brilliant 👌.

Haha how Richard at 14:00 just completely glazes over when Johnny starts talking about electric cars then says "ooo look a Q7!" 😂
I'm liking the incidental shots to get the watches in...
Stephen Cooke You know it makes sense Rodney.
These Olfi cams seem great!
11:56 - Subtle 😂
do you think they chose those colour straps so they didn't actually have to put big flashing arrows pointing towards them?
James Elliott Subtlety is S&S’s second language.
CARPERVERT You forgot to put the “tick tock” sound over it. The more ridiculous the better as far as I’m concerned.
12:00 This video WAS NOT sponsored by Nivea

Love the Jackie Stewart impression Richard. Is the left sleeve of that jumper slightly shorter than the right by any chance?
"It will change from Radio 1 to something awful I am not interested in" - sounds like one and the same thing to me!
This^^. i have my gesture presets ALL set to select R6music......... ;-)
Absolute Radio far superior station
Your rear headrests make my teeth itch.
The camera is the reason.

Subtle watch product placement, lads 😎
gmoar You know the rules x
As a house brick
I had to laugh, I saw a Tonale the other day - at Mach1 on the motorway - and thought of Jonny's ToeRag.
It’s gargantuan!! That is a big beast
72k is a big wedge for any VW

Love these videos
I don’t know why but I thought they released to compete in Dakar? Prob completely wrong 😂
I suppose we should be thankful you're sponsored by a watch company and not, say, Ann Summers.
Graeme Fraser Yeah totally.
Although the opening subtitles suggest the latter lol
Yes the bumper wedding cake analogy been saying this about a lot of cars for a few years now. SUVs seem especially guilty
Didn't Jonny refer to this thing as a ToeRag when it was presented on Fifth Gear?

Mk1 Cayenne's and Touareg's you see these days have almost identical rattleyness. Like they're shaking off their plastic bumpers and trim

Snowy I have learned that it could be deemed offensive...
@@TheLateBrakeShow As long as UA-cam doesn't automatically disable your comment section, you should be fine.
the back is just Audi Q5
Goes from radio one to something awful? You were already there mate.
Grey beards, talk to Richard Hammond for advice on Grecian2000

We don't get this new Touareg in the states, we get a shitty minivan-like kid-carrier called the atlas or some shit.
LOL British saying they are European... Brexit?!?!
Didier M lol guy on youtube not knowing the difference between Europe and the EU. Switzerland aren’t in the EU but they are very much European.
I love a draft...

I'd take a v90 Cross Country T5 and a Honda E over this. I don't get the obsession with SUVs, especially so in cities. They make my skin crawl.
A myriad of wankers reviewing things they don"t understand. Just drive it yourself and then make a decision.
Watch product placement. Jesus. Watch dents in my face.
