  • Join us for a highlight on our recent trip to Oahu, Hawaii - the top-rated Toa Luau!
    ----------------
    In case you missed it: Shark's Cove - • SHARK'S COVE - One of ...
    ----------------
    At this point in the trip, we had been thoroughly impressed by even just the small sample we had of what Oahu has to offer: Aulani, Nu'uanu Pali Lookout, Helena's Hawaiian Food, the waterfront cottages at Paradise Bay Resort, the beautiful windward side of the island, shark's cove in the north shore, and more. But we're not sure if either of had really expected what Toa Luau had in store for us!
    We both came into our first luau knowing that going to a luau is "must do" when you go to Hawaii, and that it's a very "touristy" thing to do. We typically prefer to go off the beaten path and find more unique things to do on our trips, but after coming across pictures and reviews about Toa Luau, we couldn't pass up the opportunity to experience our first luau.
    Conveniently located in the beautiful setting of Waimea Valley (your ticket includes a pass to Waimea Valley, by the way!), Toa Luau kicked off with some cultural demonstrations. This included various activities like coconut husking and palm frond headband weaving. Followed up with a cooking demonstration and cultural history from the emcee Cousin Billy.
    Before we were served a very generous dinner, we were treated to a Hawaiian kava ceremony as a "blessing" over our meal. The excellent food consisted of kalua pork, chicken, mac salad, greens salad, fruit salad, a hawaiian roll, haupia, and furikake rice. A delicious meal before an excellent show that included song and dance from the many pacific islands.
    A night we won't soon forget, and certainly weren't expecting. We were floored by the energy, hospitality and personable approach Toa Luau takes to serving their guests. To all the family we made that day, we hope to see you all again soon!
    If you have an upcoming trip to Hawaii or you're planning one, and you're thinking about going to a Luau, do not hesitate to book your tickets for Toa Luau!

    Thank-you so much for this video. We have done a couple of other Luaus on Oahu but this video decided it for us. I went back and watched all your other Hawaii videos. They are all filmed so nicely and you seem like such nice and genuine people. I really enjoyed them all.

      That must be the nicest comment we've received, thank you so much! We love making videos as a virtual memory bank for ourselves, but a big part of it is being able to share with others - glad we were able to help you find your next Luau! Toa put on such a great show, hope you enjoy it!

      @@ethelyu2436 the food was good, its chicken breast grilled with a Teriyaki sause on it, bbq pork shredded, salad with a tasty dressing on it, rice and macaroni salid. A small plate of fruit and a coconut cake. Its all you can eat and also 2 alcoholic drinks. I've never been to a big thing like that, that I thought the food was great, but it was above average good

      @VeronicaRyanVideos  Рік тому

      We went back in late May/early June of 2021, which was right before travel restrictions were fully lifted, and Toa had just recently reopened. I believe it was more of just a logistics reason that we didn't get flower leis.

    Is this in Honolulu or near by?

    • @VeronicaRyanVideos
      @VeronicaRyanVideos  2 роки тому

      This is in Waimea Valley near Pupukea, about an hour drive from Waikiki (depending on traffic). Bit of a trek if you're staying in Honolulu, but definitely worth it!

      So the check in was just a bit before 5 and the show was wrapped up by around 8 30. All in all about 3.5-4 hours for everything. Hope that helps!

    She is wearing a flower over her right ear, which means she is single. If she where "Taken" she would have the flower over her left ear, on the side of her body where her heart is.

    So they just give one meal? Not buffet style?

    • @VeronicaRyanVideos
      @VeronicaRyanVideos  2 роки тому +3

      They serve a plated meal individually, so no buffet, but they asked multiple times if we wanted anything else. We asked for more pork and it came out right away. Anything you want more of, they'll bring right away.

      @@VeronicaRyanVideos oh right on! This will be our first luau and everyone says Paradise Cove but I love the presentation they gave here. I'm looking at their gold package (middle package). You guys had a good view. Is that what you would recommend or do you think the lowest tier (silver) is good enough too?

    • @VeronicaRyanVideos
      @VeronicaRyanVideos  2 роки тому +3

      Awesome! You've chosen well! We do an unusual amount of research before all our travels, and we tend to prefer to "stray from the beaten path" to hopefully find some hidden gems. This was one of those cases that worked out really well. Toa Luau is relatively new and much smaller than the other luaus on Oahu, which works in its favor. They intentionally have a limited amount of people per showing so they can be more hands on and personable, which is why we chose this show. The pictures and even videos don't do the experience justice; it really was a great time and can't imagine a better setting (waimea valley). That being said, since it is a smaller show, the open air room where they do the dances/music and serve the food is relatively small, so every table has a good view. I can't speak for the silver though, as the section we were in was the gold section, which is floor level. The silver section is an elevated section so the gold/vip sections don't obstruct your view, but you are just a bit further away from the stage. Being floor level in the Gold section did feel pretty immersive though, so I'd say it's worth it. Hope that helps!
