I've been rediscovering this game lately. it has gorgeous stages and vibrant colors compared to 3rd strike. and I didn't know it had widescreen mode!!
I also like the win/loser screens that should be a staple in modern 2D games today as well as the speed of fighting is better than 3rd strike.
The stages are unreal I love em.
Yeah that's my one thing about third strike is while the blandness is the distinguishing Factor second impact looks overall better and more like an arcade game. They wanted to capture that dingy hip hop feel more than likely but it's just not the same
@@taylorbee4010 The bland win screen was a huge step back, as 2I had the BEST win screens of the whole genre. It's just the standard portrait, but in the late 90s all fgs used an original art work for win screen: SFA3, DS2-3, MSH to MVC1, etc. And all KoFs, LB1 and MOTW on the Snk side.
I remember the first time I saw Second Impact and my first reaction was "The stages are so much better in this game." Even the original release has some better stage backgrounds.
Sean in the lore: new fighter, still learning, fairly weak when compared to the likes of ken and ryu
Sean in 2nd impact: literally stronger then the satsui no hado, reinvented the iconic dragon punch and made it better, so strong he doesn't even need a normal fireball.

Sean is my favorite "shoto" the 2 hit shoryu, and the absence of fireball instead for an upperbody invulnerable dash that can be held for a grapple is just sick

Man who ever plays this sean didn’t abuse anything. He had so much damage options but he keeps using that crouching light, combo.
His Close roundhouse does so much damage and stuffs everything, including comboing into super.
1. After Ex Tatsu, all the supers can connect
2. His overhead and overhead heel kick on crouching can connect to any super
3. Any raw Tatsu can lead into super
4. His fucking close heavy kick beats everything
5. The fastest universal overhead in the game and you could spam the shit out of it.
6. After target combo you can connect any super
7. Short short into super 3 does HALF YOUR HEALTH

You didn't specifically mention that all his heavy normals link into super 3. This guy has yet to hit confirm it despite it being EASIER than Chun cr.mk sa2.

2nd Impact Sean to his 3rd Strike version is the biggest nerf of all time.

I would really like a version of SFIII with all the win screens from earlier versions (with that amazing art) all the stages from previous versions and a edition select. SFIII: Final Mix of sorts
It's a shame that SF2 and SFA3 got a "compilation" type of game (HSF2 and HSFA) in the 2000s but SF3 didnt get it. I can kinda understand CvS and MvC not getting one probably because of contracts... but of course there's no excuse for SF3. It just felt like Capcom wanted to abandon it. Sad.
We need ULTRA Sf3, with all the stages of previous games and version select!

We can try to blame it just on arcades dying in the West and portable/mobile games in the East but Alpha 3 dropped after 2nd Impact and was still more successful than 3rd Strike. The audience prefers the other games. You telling casual arcade goers (those left anyways) they cant pick their favs and only can use 1 super? That put them off already. Plus CPS3 games cost more money to play. Capcom always had a hurdle with 3's. Probably the only exception is Devil May Cry in being unanimously loved.

Lore wise he's said to be the pupil of Ken and Capcom is heavily suggesting that Luke is gonna be Ryu's apprentice so it's safe to say that Sean is gonna be in sf6 and the new face of the license alongside Luke

Hey Smug, I haven't played this game in years, but you can late link confirm almost every normal, chain, or special move into a super with everyone. It's really cheap in both NG and 2I. Just lab it to figure out which ones work.

Suggestions: learn Real Bout Fatal Fury 2 and use Rick and Duck King. Play 3s arcade with Q. Watch and analyze a collection of clips of Kokujin (3s Dudley player).

Second Impact has longer hitstun on moves to allow for more combos unlike 3s.
Also, Dudley's mp grab is his best. It dizzies people so fast.
