Hou is used to surprise his opponents with backhand sidespin or forehand loops. Samsonite is not surprised by anything here and that is what makes Hou being outplayed. Look how Samsonov returns Hous attempts to attack! Look how Samsonov attacks patiently and spinny enough to finally 8:06 make Hou make an Error. Compare Samsonovs game here with the Young Chinese aces that lost, one after another, to Hou in the Chinese championships 2020 or so. They couldn’t handle Hou like Samsonov could.
It may seem funny when a quite medioker player as myself has opinions on a player such as Hou Yingchao, but i''ve watched several matches lately and I sorry to say that he isn't espesially successful at all doing his backhand attacks. He could, and should, be more successful using that shortpip rubber, but he isn't. If he could manage to improve these strokes considerably I belive he would be sooo much harder to beat for the opponents.
how come? I thought she made all the right points. I was thinking how nice it was finally to listen to someone who actually understood what was going on. I play high level TT myself
Sorry but this video is not of the quality needed for high level table tennis. Frame rate is too low, and glare on table makes it hard to see the ball.
Commentator doesn't know what she's talking about. When Hou missed a block, she says "Hou didn't quite chop down enough" thinking he was trying to chop it. Lol
Hou played like absolute garbage here.. really a shame. He gets upset with himself when he misses his shots, and then starts trying to attack lots of low percentage balls to prove to himself and others that he can do it. Probably attitude that keeps him a lower ranked player, rather than skill.
Bit of both I think. Sam plays slow loops over the table, a nightmare for defenders as there ain't awful lot of pace to feed from. Rather spin to control. Also Sam gives no spin balls also meaning not a lot for Hou to use. It about styles sometimes.
Came here after watching hou yingchao destroy everyone in 2018 LA Open. Samsonov is just amazing against choppers
Tibhar won Butterfly Open! :D
Why is a player like Samsonov at this tournament?
10000$ for the winner
+ttlondon2012 sadly table tennis isnt a very profitable sport. Even top players has to chase little tips like this.
Samsonov isn't chasing anything, they invited him just like they have for Dimitri, Aruna, Waldner it brings the crowd out.
No money at all, Zhang Jike not a millionaire driving a Bentley hey. ;)
+scott cooper his money is from sponsorship and obviously China loves table tennis
very smart (not) to put the camera on the left side when both players are right-handed
Galimah good point ,its amazing how oftenvthey mess up camera angles etc. It makes all the difference to pongvheads like us!

And to think that the US Open doesn't even lay out as much...sad...
Can upload the match of Tao wenzhang in the semi final?
Hou isn't in shape at all and Samsonov is the "Anti defenders Player" of all time.
Yeah, except may be against Gionis (sometimes).

サムソノフと比べるとカットマンの方のフォアの打球音がパキンパキンいってるし球速も回転も見てて笑える。これが所謂金属音てやつですかね。すげーなブースター。
Good angle but that sunlight really makes it unwatchable
Vlad ensured Hou got tied of defending

Worst commentator I've ever heard

結構カットマンが自爆してる感あるけどサムソノフがそうさせてるのかな
Is that Lily Zhang commentating?

Yingchaos forehand clicks like shit 😂

Какой же отвратительный мяч, сквозь годы слышу как плюются игроки. В решающем сете видно, что мячи как на тренировке. Чтобы почувствовать эту хрень
That was the fakest match ever
