Ripple Lane was my local. 31s 37s 47s and on occasion 08s running light to Purfleet. Rainham station was the best place because as they came round the bend from Dagenham Dock they would be powering up for the long straight to purfleet, EE and Sulzer hellfire, effing glorious.
1983 , my 10th year as Freight Guard at Ripple lane. Nickname Badgeriguard Got to Link 1, and then left to be conductor at Liverpool st.
