I feel like being able to follow Paralives since the beginning helped me to understand how much goes into game development. I love that this is an indie game because you can feel all the love that alex and the team have put into everything.
oh yes! I think one of the best things has been able to see and learn more about the behind the scenes, their process, and some of the challenges they have faced too
I def don't see it the same as the sims but am very hopeful to have a new game to look forward to! seeing as thus far I don't agree with their decisions with project rene
I'm really glad you made this video showing the evolution and how they haven't given up on b/b. We'd seen so much of the Paras but I was worried that they might have scaled down what they were going to have for b/b. Your video belayed that fear. They may not be showing all of what they had done, but things like the floorplans they showed means that they still are having a lot of the original things. I suspect they have changed some things, since the ambience in Maggie's loft is very different than what we've seen of the environment since then, but the tools do not seem to have been scaled down. They just decided to go more "cartoony" in the later videos for the graphic "lighting" and "style."
good! yeah they kinda shifted their focus in what they are showing off now, so I could see that; it's also hard to keep track of all they have shown true, I agree that well even if you look at the last builds here, there is def a difference between that & the first reveal. I do have a preference ngl for that loft as it once looked- yet I still like what they seemed to have settled on and can kinda see how it works better overall
@@SimmerErin The tools for building are what's one of the most important things for me. While I don't do a *lot* of building, when I do build I want the tools. Gameplay is my next most important part in a game. Then comes variety and quantity of CAS. (I use a lot of CC CAS but because of all the TS4 DLC content, I don't use the CC as much as I used to.) But the lighting and "style" (whether it's hyper-realistic or cartoony) is not as important to me.
Seeing a game being built from the ground up is so amazing Can't wait to see how this game is when it comes out. Also they have been incredible dealing with the nightmare that is sims fans
This is a wonderful recap of Paralives Build/Buy mode development! I can see that throughout the development, the tone and mood is somewhat consistent. They are really sticking to the cozy mood and give a sense of homeliness to the game.
thank you! yeah, you know, that's something that really rings true, and imo more so than the development of a lot of games. It's clear they had an intent and focus and vision for the game from the beginning. while they add styles, they remain true to the overall ethos they established
@@SimmerErin on the other hand, as much I hate to say about Life by You, who unfortunately suffers from lacking aesthetic and still double down on it until its demise.
yeah! I remember seeing one of those very first renders - it's awesome how far they've come. it's weird because it seems both like a really long time ago and also not that long ago
The difference between build modes in Paralives and Sims 4 is night and day. Paralives has a way more advanced build mode, but it doesn't seem overwhelming at all. I'm hoping we get to build our own community lots.
it does indeed exhibit a lot of customization without feeling overwhelming (not sure of course until I get to play it) but I feel it was thoghtfully designed
When I say I can't wait to play this game 😩 Lol, but seriously everything they show just makes me more interested in playing. What I love as well is that they are focused on making sure each area of the game is ready but they also want to make sure players have a wide variety of styles and items in the paramaker and in build/buy mode to choose from.
I know you're one of the greatest sources/more recommended sources of infos on Paralives and so thank you for that evolution video! I hope the Paralives team sees it, because seeing this evolution is so cool! :D As a not so old fan of Paralives, those recaps are also greatly appreciated:D
I love how the build mode has evolved over time! Their current style is amazing and just very unique in its own way. I also love all the little tools, the custom lots, the object resizing (especially the beds wow) and so much more. Man it's just so beautiful and I don't regret for a second the money i have given om patreon. This is the game i've always dreamed of as a builder. I also like how transparent they are. There's many things that won't be possible, but i can see that they are trying and it especially shows in the build mode. It's versatile, has so many little items, the clutter is realistic and just so cute too. The 3D grass and all of these little details is innovative and just something that i'd never jave espexted them to do. I honestly love it. But they're also clear about what isnt coming at initial release or maybe at all. I know i pnce asked them if it's possible to build those half in the ground cellars that are common here in europe and while they said that they don't entirely know yet and that the basements won't be a thing at initial release they liked the idea and said they wanted to look into how that would work. How cool it that? I could go on for hours how excited i am for paralives. I can't wait to play it and i'm excited on how it will go on after release too.
agreed. even as a non builder I see so much potential (I do do silly builds) with all of this and what strikes me the most is that they've built a seemingly strong foundation That is awesome they replied to you like that!
8:34 what i love about recaps is seeing all the older clips and things i forgot about, like this fallen boot here! they’ve had the little details from the start and they’ve stayed consistent with the care and attention they’ve put into the game. it’s so exciting to realise how close 2025 is! and in newer images like here 10:45 i missed those wardrobes that look almost built in, in the top image! and here 12:30 on the right you can see other apartment doors!
Thank you for a fascinating recap - I think I found Paralives in maybe 2021, so I missed a lot of the early stuff. They really have come a long way, yet I feel like it’s obvious that the early stuff is related to what they did later. They have stayed true to their roots and built on what came before! Very much looking forward to this game! 😊
you're welcome- I kinda even wanted to do that for myself I agree... it seems like they had a solid plan at the beginning. Think it' s why/ how they have made it this far
I'm gonna have to get my hands on it to tell if I like it. I hope I do, but there are some aspects of it that remind me more of Planet Zoo, and the building in that is very complicated at times, but I'm hoping there are a lot of easy access type things too, where you won't have to put together a couch every time you build (just an example lol). Its also why I don't like to put clutter in Sims 4 using Move objects lol. I mean I can do it, but its so time consuming for me. You saw how long it took me to build that two story house with a screen porch, it was like two weeks almost. The planet zoo example is much better and closer to the reason. The building when they went through the house and built it from scratch reminded me so much of Planet Zoo's build system. Project Renee felt the same way when they were showing it off, but not as bad for some reason.
It's crazy to hear you say 2019 at the beginning of the timeline 😅 I've been following Paralives since the object resize preview, and I've gitten married and had 2 kids since then 😅
Although it's still a WIP, I think that a video on the evolution of the UI could be very interesting. Maybe in a few months, once we get more live mode previews ?
With sims 5 not going to exist, i am hopeful for a new life sim to replace sims for my go to life sim. I hate to see sims go down what looks like a death spiral though that may be a bit pessimistic of me. Though paralives, does tickle my fancy. It feels more cozy and easier on the eyes.
hope so too. they have asked for feedback before on the UI I believe and hopefully will continue to do so. It appears pleasant to look at, but of course you want it to have a good sense of organization and be easy to use
ha fair enough! you can def make something in between the two :) I suppose the post was mostly to showcase contrast. My condo's previous owners decided they love dark paint and irl I find it a bit much 😆
