For anyone curious, #39 got a 1 minute (combined) penalty for the two incidents on the final lap. 50 seconds for that first one, 10 for the second. He ended up in 21st place.
Quite right, too.
It was fair, he had pretty clumsy racing in the end
good...because that was absolutely not "okay".....

Never watched much Mazda racing before, but both these races were fantastic. Defiantely going to be following them this year thanks to this channel. The Daytona International Speedway is such a great circuit.

I love the multi car drafting! (yes I am NASCAR fan) It is even cooler to see it happen in other series.
& even before the 1st lap drivers were swerving back & fourth to heat up the tires 🛞 fore friction just like in NASCAR
This is more action in 45 MInutes than a complete f1 season.
Well yeah, all the cars are built by one manufacturer, as opposed to F1 whereas the tiniest change to aero can either cost you big time or get you to regular podium finishes.

I even watched race 1 and I saw how insane the finish was, but I didn't realize it until he mentioned on this broadcast. The car that was leading, exiting the bus stop on the last lap, finished p11. That's wiiiiiiiild. Such a ridiculously fun series

But you must admit that even with a ten second penalty, Tyler Gonzalez played it almost perfectly. Having a 10 sec penalty and still getting 8th is impressive

Cicero was kept in front, because they thought you couldn't win going into the chicane first, but he actually did it, very much deserved win by him, so happy for the guy
Jodoin surely didn't make a whole lot of friends causing two crashes on that last lap, that was really over the edge

The LMDH are the cream but if you want to get inspired to play AMS2 or ACC this is all you need. I love the updated visuals. I have one lamentation. I need the GTP class to come back to Mosport, currently called CTMP.
After the stunt the BMW of Eng pulled last year, I think it was CTMP management that said no.

'warned for contact on the banking' i don't understand that one at all. All of them have contact every time they're on the banking??? Is it that you can touch but you can't bump?
You can touch, you can bump, but you can’t “lock” bumpers. For us drivers, we were having to tap on our brakes to release once we locked to the car we were pushing to adhere to this regulation
@@SelinRollan first off thank you for replying, and that's absolutely awesome that you race in the series!! So, I get the sense that it was maybe more loosely enforced on the first race, because there was what seemed to be a lot of sustained contact. I'm also surprised that one of the cars (can't remember who) didn't get the meatball flag for damage to the car. Is the spirit of enforcement sort of 'if there's no harm there's no foul'?
@@aaronvanzile3824 yeah that was me that was on the cusp of the meatball flag 😅 I spoke to race control after and they didn’t want to give it to me but it was close. As for the contact, again speaking to race control, they said that yesterday’s race there was more than they would like and said they would be more liberal about giving warnings and then penalties, which is sounds like warnings were given but no penalties. Personally, I don’t like the no sustained contact rule. I think it would be safer having consistent contact, instead of having an oscillation for the sake of not being stuck on the car in fronts bumper.
@@SelinRollan oh!! That's hilarious, well congratulations on a well fought race! That's really really interesting about the explanation from race control. I was at the race last year at the Glen and have only gotten more interested in IMSA weekends, the entire scene is so cool and so friendly. Can't wait to get back to an event, good luck this season!!!
That first FCY should've been called way earlier. Even if it's a local yellow, the speed they were traveling in the tri-oval should've been enough for a FCY immediately.

Yeah brother that’s why I got crashed out of the way in the first 10 mins, didn’t touch anybody else the whole race, got collected on the last lap from others, and was never investigated for any contact across the entire 2 races. Hold that L and come back when you’ve got a decent take. Show me a timestamp of where you’ve got an issue and I’ll be happy to take a look.
