- It was nearly a comeback for the ages for Coventry. Instead, it ended in another gut-wrenching penalty shootout loss at Wembley for the second-tier team as Manchester United limped into another FA Cup final.
Coventry pulled off one of the most unexpected fightbacks in FA Cup history by rallying from three goals down against United to force extra time after a 3-3 draw in Sunday’s semifinal game, only to falter at the end and let Erik ten Hag's team escape with a 4-2 win in the shootout.
Victor Torp thought he had scored the winner in the 120th minute - setting off more wild celebrations by the Coventry players and fans - but it was ruled out by VAR for a narrow offside to set up the penalty shootout.
Casemiro missed United's first penalty by shooting straight at goalkeeper Bradley Collins but Andre Onana saved O'Hare's spot kick before Ben Sheaf sent his well over the crossbar.
A "gutted" Sheaf revealed to reporters after the match that Onana had “tried his best” to put off Coventry penalty-takers - something seemingly confirmed by the Cameroonian himself, who also told the mixed zone media:
“I had to make some provocations to some players and I have to do my tricks to win the game. I'm happy for that,” said Onana, who picked up a yellow card in the shootout for arguing with the referee Robert Jones.
Onana had already picked up a caution in the final minutes of full time but the second yellow did not lead to a red card.
IFAB rule 10.3 states that bookings picked up during the regulation match are not carried through to penalty shootouts.

Because Coventry are a championship team with a 30 million pound squad (compared to United 1 billion pound squad) who were 3-0 down, but dominated the last 25 minutes of the 2nd half, plus the whole of extra time to bring it back to 3-3 and had the closet of offside calls you will ever see for a goal, which ultimately meant they didn't win in the last minute. Of course they deserved to win, it's not hard to grasp you mong
