I think the way they did the power supply is genius... allows pros to use their quality gear natives, but also includes adapter for DIY battery flexibility with the adapter. Solid
Can you make a video on how to use the Zoom F4? Formatting the card, setting up the menus for recording, etc. In short, everything someone would need to know to use the F4 to record sound and show the menu window so we see what you are doing. Thanks.
A year ago I shoot with a C100 mark II with a Sennheiser on the XLR input and the cam seems to have the same tool than this F4, for the volume normalization. Did you test it? And if yes, do you think it is as good as the F4?
I will be working with the F4 multitrack but am not familiar with the unit just yet. I need to record an interview with two separate lapel mic and wanted to make sure that each track will be recorded separately and a stereo channel with both tracks on it. What would be the easiest and best way to set up the F4 for multitrack recording and have separate files for post production? Also wanted to be able to listen to on my headphones left for mic 1 and right for mic 2. Thank you!!
I love your tutorial here. Zoom Tech Support SUCK. And I do have a few questions because I just got the recorder today. Question (1). I'm trying different microphones and the Audio Technica 2020 (Condensor) is working great, but AT897 (Shotgun) is low in volume, even after I turn the Chanel level all the way up. How do I fix this?
Hi! Great video! A questions, I'm just curious. is this could be use to record kind a jazz music(could be just a jazz drum set or maybe a trio) nothing to big, because due to it's really clean signal, maybe it was kind of a good idea to do it... What do you guys think? Greetings from Germany.
Any comments or measurements regarding the stereo 3.5mm input preamp? I'm recording a lot of binaural (using lavs) and I need a small factor recorder with better performance than consumer hand helds.
Thanks for the comment. We'll see what we can do. Would recording a guitar be satisfactory? We don't often have a live band coming in to our office, though I wish we did!
6:45 - 6:50 - Best part of the Video

Would one of these still be a wise buy in 2022 (gently used or New OLD Stock for around $500USSD) or should I just get a newer device?
Question: when used as an audio interface, how can you turn up and down the volume out to the speakers?
I’m assuming if you record a boom out of Ch 1 and wireless out of Ch. 2, they will appear in the finder as Mono Ch 1 and Ch 2?

You mentioned a TONE feature - is this EQ? What sort of EQ options are available for getting a better balance or clarity for interviews?

how do you control the levels of every channel at once? Like a master output. Would you select all channels in the fader mode?
can I plug an acoustic guitar into this and also a synth? or maybe plug in to it from a pa system to record guitar ect?
I cant find anyone on youtube to show how to do multi track recording like if you wanted to record 4 people at one time.
Hello quick Question just bought the f4, but I can't find numbers on the metadata input. need to mark scene like Ep05SC10

How to make sound not to distort?

Yes, it should work fine for recording jazz music.
Can you use this to record straight to camera instead of syncing?
Yes, you'd just need the cable to connect the XLR output to your camera's audio input.
How to use F4 with a Caméra using time code?
Where can I find the menu for splitting the output tracks for multi mic operation?
think there will be keyboard metadata input with the mixer addon thing
Yes, the FRC-8 F-Control adds the option to connect an external USB keyboard.

The 3.5mm jack only accepts line level between -10db and +4. It won't work with microphones needing amplification.
Is it possible to record at least six hours with this product without changing the batteries?
The operating time is about six hours with lithium batteries, but it would be cutting it pretty close.
I have a issue it records perfect but when sent the output to camera to record on fs7 or 5 it’s to hot. To the unusable level
Make sure the camera is set to line level. If it is still to hot try an attenuator like these: www.gothamsound.com/product/a15as-1
Hello Nick, I'd like to see an example how well it records instruments or a live band. Thank you!

how would i connect the F4 to my camera (Nikon) mic input and what type of cable would i use?
Kano in the Philippines you would use the sub out and a 1/8" TRS (stereo mini) cable to connect to a DSLR
this is an unbalanced output, so would i need an unbalanced cable?
Kano in the Philippines yes!
I find tone to be to hot for reference at mic level.
Are you sending your audio to your camera? You need to adjust your camera audio to the appropriate level.
@@7thwavepictures Why no reference numbers 0dB -12db -18db etc. on the display of the F4. The F8 has them.
F4 has level numbers so you can precisely find -20, -12 etc. You just have to scroll to the appropriate screen.
