You're absolutely correct. If you work hard at ups and treat the supervisors with respect, you're reliable, don't call out just because you don't want to work, and keep at it, your opportunities are endless. I currently work at the UPS in Warwick Rhode island. I've been there about a year now. I worked there during the pandemic while my full time job is paused and building closed. Building is going to open again and I can't keep 2 jobs going. Unfortunately I had to give my 2 weeks notice. I've been a great employee. They've asked for me to be a supervisor, and asked if I wanted to be a driver. Many doors open for you. Best of luck to you.
I'm actually going to Warwick's for orientation as a driver helper! I'm pretty nervous, but I'm really happy to see other people in my area with positive experience and it makes me a lot less nervous.

I'm well into my 3rd week and it's not that bad.. some days u get some Difficult Packages but se days it's light/medium.. tje Shift only.lasts 4 1/2 hours generally so its Do-able I suggest stretch and drink.alot of.water and wear loose.comforrable Clothing And just Try to mentally.Be up for it.. :) ur gonna Be o.k.

@noobSaybotK pre-loaders come in early in the morning like 01:30 or so and Load the brown trucks.. a Package handlers Unloads the 18 wheelers of the packages 📦 and puts em on a conveyer belt.. and yes u can work a second shift they sign U up all the time if u want.. So making 500-$750$ per week is typical unless ur in holidays then it's like 1,000$ a week
i worked at a warehouse 8-10 hours a day handling exclusively light poles. like big ass street lightpoles lifting a lot of them by hand. you think this job would be more chill?
Yes, that's typical they are just preparing you for your 1st day of training.. you will report to your UPS Hub, and then u will meet a training Supervisor and he or she will get you guys all checked in then u will have a series of Video's and Stretches and proper lifting techniques and learn how to build a proper wall inside a trailer.. I will also be told to bring water in a container since it gets hot inside the teailers.. training is 5 days... then you are placed in a pre sort or Bulk sort or Unload position or.Loading position.. Then u will get evaluated weekly for your 1st 30 days to see how you are doing.. just remain positive at all times. And smile it's not bad at all honestly... I like working there. U will get a weekly paycheck apx 245$- 350$ a week depending how many hours u work..
1st check will come the following week generally Thursday but sometimes a friday.. the 1st check.is a Actual check Second checknwill be either direct deposit or u will receive an ADT debit visa card issued by UPS with allure future deposits on ot every Thursday

I’m sure it’s different everywhere, but I work with a ton of females at my hub. Just expect the physical, demanding labor. If you can handle repeatedly lifting/moving things you’re good 👍🏽 most boxes are under 70lbs and for the bigger stuff team-lifts are encouraged. Get in, stick it out and become a driver….you’ll have a great career 😎

U need like a State I.D. and social security card.. or Passport or Birth certificate.. They want two forms of I.D. that are listed from their Orientation e/mail notification
U can get a State I.D. fairly quickly. Or another one off of their List... Just go to Orientation and then tell them u need to get a State I.D. they may let u have the time.

Go work in Amazon with the oversize boxes trailers, doing both unload and load. I worked my but off there and I wish I did not. Like I said you can never pay me to do slave work.

Worked my first day today. Went to sleep at 630, woke up at 12 45 and went to work. They had me unloading boxes all day and scanning them also. I would switch on and off with a guy. Very tiring. Easy work though.

A full time package handler? At my hub in Miami Florida any full time position is a bid position. Sounds pretty unlikely their hiring full time package handlers off the street. Many very seldom but that’s not an easy job to get.
$15hr in nyc ...large azz building. I was walking thru times sq 2:30am for my 3:30am arrival. Entrance and exit specifics enter at the pedestrian side....Everyone.. Have a Hoodie because training rooms are ice cold but the work areas are hot with no air circulating.Make sure to wear your workboots and have your documents. No WEED policy also for smokers . Even if a driver drove you to work and you smell like you smoked your fired.

Teamsters is bottom 10 of quality unions. I was 179 for a few years. We voted them in thinking they'd be better for us but they were never around to help us, they'd side with the company over the employees.
Alot of unions are like that.. i think a better approach is KNOWING UR RIGHTS.. and then applying the M.O.U. in ur benefit u can have the union yet have Other representation when something jumps off.. u are not REQUIRED to have a union representative at a hearing for an issue with u. U can get ur own rep..or lawyer or whatever.. the basic idea is KNOWING UR RIGHTS and not relying on anyone else for protecting ur employee rights other than the Democratic process of voting and having a copy of that M.O.U. that u need to study and learn for urself ..
