Magneto: *gets his heart ripped out*
Also Magneto: "I didn't hear no bell!"
Hands down the most Magneto thing Magneto has done! Could you imagine a Doom and Magneto team up?! 😁
@@SkinnyEatWorld95 every living being in the multiverse will be shaking in their boots or whatever they wear
@@SkinnyEatWorld95Goodmorning sunshine. There's multiple comics where they team-up.
@@SkinnyEatWorld95They've actually teamed up a few times in Marvel Comics history..one of the greatest titles of the 70s IMO was Super Villain Team Up..& basically had Dr Doom teaming up with many others villains.. starting with Namor & i believe Magneto as well
I highly recommend that you check it out.
0:01 Magneto is just sitting there.... *MENACINGLY!!!*
That's why Magneto and Doom are my all-time favorite villains! They don't even have to say or do anything to be menacing😁
Mans just sitting asserting dominance *AND BEING DRIPPED OUT WHILE DOING SO*
if Magneto was right, then Apocalypse did nothing wrong
You left out the recent Rez Of Mag that forced him to face his actions.
One of the truly great morally complex characters in all of fiction, full stop.
~_~
When the MCU truly introduces mutants there Magneto should agree with a lot of what Dr Doom’s actions hope to accomplish. But is also friends with Charles, and all that history they share, respect.
"It's good to travel the harder road sometimes, Abigail [Brand]. After all, if we never tested our limits... we might assume we had some" -Magneto, after travelling to the S.W.O.R.D. station in orbit, from Earth, using only his power of magnetism
Do one for Lex Luthor.
He was right. People in general in real life are mean natured and back stabbers. If was a comic book character i side with him. People are very un trust worthy
raz fresco has 9 vinyl volumes of magneto was right
FOR JEDI ACOLYTE 26:
ROB JEFFERSON, HEAR OUR CRY CHARACTER EXPLAINED/ MAMMOTH MOGUL(ARCHIE), DURGE(STAR WARS), ENERJAK(ARCHIE)
Magneto was NEVER right, even when he made that space colony and claimed his nukes were deterrents.
what people dont understand is mutants are dangerous. and should be contained. even someone as overlooked as iceman could destroy the world if he felt like it.
*Magneto (X-Men The Animated Series-1992):* “When I Was A Child, My People Talked While Others Prepared For WAR! They Used Reason While Others Used TANKS, And They Were Destroyed For Their Trouble. I Won't Stand By And Watch It Happen Again, I WON'T!”
And I meant that too.😌
This is why I support israel
Now you should do, "Marvel Heroes who were wrong"
This needs more likes
That contrast would be awesome to see
I want to see it
Well done
But he already covers Batman all the time 😂😂😂😂
What makes great villains great is that we sincerely agree in theory. What makes them villains is we vehemently disagree in practice.
What he said
That's a bar tho
I think also if the villain at some point essentially “Wins”. I don’t think anyone would agree with villains like The Emperor from Star Wars or someone insane like Kefka from Final Fantasy 6 who just wants to destroy and rule with an iron fist while all are left miserably. But at some point in their story they win big and because they actually won they make better villains then those that were already fully in power and there downfall was their lack of effort.
Spot on

@@stealthynaxo Cyclops was very salty that Professor X gave all of the inheritances to Magneto instead of him.
I wonder if that will was an admission that Xavier's methods were wrong and Magneto must be right if Xavier in fact was killed.
@@GRPABT1 Xavier's fate actually turned out far less honorable than you'd expect... I don't wanna spoil X-Men '97, I highly recommend watching it to find out for yourself.
The only problem I have with Magneto is that he didn't have a special interaction with Dr Doom in MarvelvsCapcom 3. Dr Doom kept talking crap everytime he went up against an X men, saying "I'll make you wish you were facing Magneto."
He even calls them Mutant scum after defeating them. Like me personally, I wouldn't take that level of disrespect.
The Marvel vs. series didnt really have special interactions at all though. Those were mostly confined to the Alpha series and the CvS series for some reason. Would've been cool though.
@@miltonmilton5695 I probably should've said special dialogue. When you pick Hulk and go up against Wolverine,
Hulk would say he's gonna break Wolverine's claws while Wolverine replies that their fight isn't gonna end in a draw.

A safer world for mutants(any one group) is a safer world for all. Laws that oppress one group in a way oppress all, or will one day lead to a backlash against another.
Dude. Mutants were an allegory for gun control long before they became an allegory for civil rights.
What do you do when any angsty young teenager could be a weapon of mass destruction?
Nicely put
Magneto is forever my favorite character.
Magneto is my number 1 best written character in Marvel.
Written what? Best written? Worst written?
Best of course
There’s an album series called magneto was right by Raz Fresco its actually great hip hop
Love the use of Magneto as examples of various philosophical schools of thought. It shows that no one can easily be put in a box and classified.
Speaking as a jewish person, and being able to empathize with Magneto's knee-jerk refusal to accept that the people who do not belong to your social and cultural demographic will ever accept you for various, often illogical reasons? There is a phrase we have that Magneto exemplifies, eloquent in its brevity, masterful in its simplicity and its capacity to extend to all facets of his character.
"Never forget"
He can never, WILL never forget the atrocities committed against his fellow jew, and fellow mutant, by a population that said the quiet part out loud and acted on it. The quiet part that rests in the heart of- while not all, so very many people in the world. That they will never accept you, see you as fundamentally different and not worthy of their compassion, respect or benefit of the doubt, and that the only way you can keep yourself from being hurt is by remembering what they did before so you don't make that mistake again.
It's the philosophy of a trauma survivor, not wrong to think that way, but too damaged and scared to ever trust opening up again. It's the reason why Magneto's mutant-ruled world didn't work, because his entire motivation was predicated on a foundation of "Never again", but for that to work there needs to be someone else out there that would presumably want to hurt you. When you rule, you need a different rallying cry, and while I am in no way saying that he IS one, his philosophy, in that way, has similar themes to facism, in that it NEEDS an enemy to rally against in order to charismatically call people to their leader's side, which is why it failed- in basing his rallying cry around fear and rebelling against oppression, there was no solid, unifying force to keep them together once they won.
Charles' perspective meanwhile, while too naiive and inactive to properly understand how to reach people in the way that Magneto's would, is more sustainable in the long-term, as it pulls people together through understanding and companionship, giving them a reason to stay together and goals to work for in the future after they presumably are the ruling or accepted party.
It's a perfect example of how extreme hatred and extreme pacifism will never accomplish your goals. You need to be ruthless when necessary, and you need to give people something to stand for by themselves, on their own merits, through no enemy on the horizon, but by what they want to be moving forward.
I agree with you on that 1000%
Jews had a few who did the Nakam, and many more who did the Nakba. I am Jewish my grandfather liberated Buchenwald.
No offense, but a lot of Jews can pass for being Anglo. My grandfather got remarried to a Jewish lady and her mother had blonde hair. Hell, my Jewish philosophy teacher in college had blonde hair and blue eyes. If we were to equate Jews to mutants, most of you would be able to pass for being human. But try being Black. We'd equate to mutants who look like Sabretooth, Mystique, Domino, Nightcrawler, Blink, etc. Not to downplay the horrendous treatment that the Jews have had to endure, but a lot of you can blend in. Magneto himself can easily pass for human, while mutants like Henry McCoy can not. There's a big difference between being discovered of who you are if you use your powers or you're somehow detected, rather than your mutation being blatantly obvious simply based on the way that you look. I always found it ironic that the most pro-mutant mutant in Marvel Comics didn't even look like one
@@scinnyc read Maus
This one was pretty informative, appreciate it!
There’s a word for that: Anti-villain.
I cannot wait for the MCU adaptation of Magneto. Secret Wars bouta go crazy.
i hope magneto is in MCU, played by fassbender again
The Alex Ross art in the thumbnail goes SO fucking hard.
Hes attempted world-wide genocide multiple times.
I love Magneto as a character, and sometimes even agree with the base of his argument (mutant/human peace is a pipe dream) but the unquestioning worship of him by real people always leaves me puzzled
Yeah people tend to forget that his worldwide EMP in comics would have killed millions of people at the time it happened.
Omg it took awhile but I found someone with common sense and decency in the comments.
Congratulations. You are not a mindless peon.
yeah he woke up and decided to destroy the planet on a whim. even in the worst adaptations of him (such as the ultimate universe or the time they retconned a clone of him to salvage how bad they strayed from character) he literally only ever hits back. its not his fault he hits harder than his oppressors.
@@setokaiba2711 nearly every time magneto gets hit it is a false flag where he orchestrates the attack or the attack comes from one of his zealots.
The only times I can think of when he isn't the instigator is in the most recent cartoon and in God Loves Man Kills.
Because his people would survive and thrive because that's what they are. Actually the only people who wouldn't are the ones that couldn't
The idea of humans' mistreatment of others is wrong is correct, and im sure everyone can agree with Magneto on that. But respectfully, what the hell are yall talking about??? Because he was repeatedly mistreated and watched muntants and jews killed and hurt makes his philosophy, right? Genocide isn't ok, this idea is played with in AOT, and the people of the verse know why erin did what he did, but they dont agree with the genocide. The idea of Magento is a hypocrite. He was a victim of a dictators wrath and now does the very thing that was done to him. He believes his race is superior and everyone else, including sympathizers, should die. He is a good character because he is a hypocrite as it's someone done right, not because his philosophy was right. If i was beaten down by bad people, called derogatory names because of my race, why does that give me the right to be just as bad as they are hurting everyone include not only the good of mankind but my own flesh and blood?
Comic lovers my parents said if I hit 35k they’d buy me a professional camera begging you guys please💪🏻
For the 10+ years I’ve been watching comic book UA-cam I always felt like I never quite saw anyone really talk about how great and compelling of a villian magneto was. His backstory is so real and adds so much to him
Always find ur vids helpful.
2 minutes in here. Magneto is right, without the power of violence humanity would never respect mutants.
Laws are menacing, because violence is what backs them up. Magneto was just following natural law.
Could we have a video on how Professor Xavier has waxed and waned over the years?
Exactly, even though there would be many humans willing to assist and support mutants, there are would be too many that don't, especially in positions of power who, even if they were mutants, would to no end of cruelty seek to maintain their dominance. The masses would either fall in line like the herd they are, and those who would resist would fail to have the power to do so because they are only human.
Magneto was right, it just how he tries to achieve his goals that presents moral issues.
Im 13 and this shit is deep
If magneto join Avengers secret war my mind go 😱🤯.
Magneto and Dr.Doom are the most reasonable villains and Thanos of all is the one who gets heard out
I mean, he was right(Mcu thanos anyhow, not simp thanos)
This is why I firmly believe that Magneto is the greatest Superman villain that Superman will never fight. And it's not because of the powers(though a fight between would make for an epic spectacle), but rather, it's because of the ideology. Magneto seems like the perfect opponent to challenge everything Superman stands for. Regardless of the fistfight, I believe Magneto is the only villain who could potentially win the morality argument against Superman(yeah, I said it).
Very true because Injustice Superman kind of has the same ideologies as Magneto. Create a new world with no violence or crimes through force.
Dude, well researched and even better written script. Nicely done!
Now try this with Apocalypse 😅
What'd he say in the original cartoon? "Evil? I'm not malevolent. I simply am."
My favorite thing about villains is when they are nice to children. Like when the joker was talking to the son of one of his henchmen. I'll always remember moments like that in comics
Was waiting for you to mention Malcolm you didn't disappoint Rob
Same 💯🙌🏾
He lazily shoehorned in just one Malcolm X quote at the very end and didn't actually elaborate on Malcolm X's ideology or how it factors into Magneto's worldview at all. He chose instead to waste time wanking off some crusty old white guys who have little to no relevance whatsoever to Magneto's inherently revolutionary praxis.
Rob did disappoint. Gravely so.
please can you do a video on how all 4 sinister clones failed to reach dominion
Magneto isn’t the bad guy for his seperate but equal beliefs, the bad guy is the one who preaches integration until his people are inevitably genocided by those he fought to integrate with
My favorite mutant since a kid and still is
If your going to say who was right, Killmonger deserves a seat @ the table
A nice sampler of famous philosophers in this video ❤😂
Rob I am begging you, if you're going to cover Thanos next one,for the love of The One Above All please do not make it about the watered down Mickey Mouse version of Thanos we got in the MCU who cares about "balance".
FINALLY. You can't imagine how many videos i have seen with people trying to force magneto into a box of villainy using weak philosophical examples to get there. There is another video just like this that falls painfully short of what you did.
Thank you for keeping comics alive 🙏🏽
Discrimination as a human.
Discrimination as a mutant.
This man just can’t win!
11:39 Jungian philosophy is so awesome!
Yesssssssssssss🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
One of the greatest villains of All Time
"We have gotten here by walking THIS MAN'S path." - Magneto, throwing shade at a wheelchair bound Charles Xavier (XMen '97, 2024)
That's the issue. They were walking the path when they should've been rolling like Charles does lol
You can say anything if you put "arguably" before it. I love it.
This is a really interesting take, villains are always more interesting when you can see there point of view… 👍
Maggie was right, but not entirely, sure the homies with money hate him because he can do something they cannot do and they are jealous of him and other mutants, because the Richies are trash, the average people, yes there are those brainwashed by the Richies, But, if the x men and Magneto were to show up in the average town, and have a battle there would be normal people who would scream to the men how they loved him, and there would be people, good ones who would cheer for Magneto
Joker has *a* point, but Mags is not right - he's a hypocrite that became the very thing he hated.
I don’t say much here because you’ve reached the golden standard of comic videos that I would compare any to out still, this is some good stuff. 😅
Max Eisenhardt, Eric Lensher, Magneto was and always will be right about humans.
who would win if Magneto (X Men movies) and Homelander (The Boys series) fight against each other?
Magneto
Bootleg Super-Man vs a dude that can throw Bridges at people. Depends on who shoots first
SWAGneto. No other mutant matters.
He’s always been right smh it just a hard reality 😢
Magneto WAS right. Asking or waiting for permission to live because you're different will never come. You need to stand up for yourself. Those that trust that they'll be allowed to live will always die.
Ask any indigenous nation.
Eh. Magneto is arguably traumatized.
But I would say the biggest potential moral issue with Magneto is his history of planning and attempting genocide.
His terrorism in and of itself isn't necessarily wrongheaded or immoral. Especially his attacks on military assets.
There’s no difference between Magneto and how Killmonger was portrayed in the MCU. Both are freedom fighters
Another excellent collage of comics and philosophy!!! Bravo... Professor Rob!!! 🎉
I love the philosophical aspect of this video so much. You should do Luthor’s assertion that Superman on Earth blunts the humanity’s ability to do for itself
Video ideas:
*(insert name here)* is Batman’s most tragic villain: Poison Ivy (rape victim), Killer Croc (victim of severe bigotry), etc.
Comic villains who were right: Scarecrow (a scientist who uses the greater good of scientific discovery to justify his actions and curiosity in fear research), Harley Quinn (power and importance of love), Ra’s (the importance of destroying corruption), Red Hood (the death penalty exists for a reason and guns are just tools), Green Goblin (there are no greater powers than influencing others, either through money or persuasion) and Carnage (repeat of whatever the Joker was right about).
Magneto’s vision is understandable, but that doesn’t mean its right.
I think that’s something a lot of readers have trouble distinguishing.
But mutants are discriminated and hunted. Two wrongs don't make a right, sure, but being submissive and allowing abuse to happen when you can change/stop it isn't wrong.
I don’t think readers have trouble understanding. It’s a thing called sympathy. Magneto is arguably the most popular villain from the X-men and probably marvel, because he draws sympathy from people who aren’t mad dogs. He literally makes sense. His goal, his vision is something a lot of people can sympathize with.
It doesn't have to be right. If being right morally leads to taking abuse then it's time to leave behind such morality.
@YoMamaBih don't mistake a desire for peace and an end to bloodshed, submissive. There is a strong virtue in coexistence.
Easily THEE best dark character in Marvel, Next to DOOM of course… They’re “the one/two punch” of complicated leaders/villians in Marvel lol
I really like this series...I feel that the average person could use a synopsis of not just "villians" but also "heroes". I think people have a general idea of Spider-Man and Superman but...who they trully are and what really makes them WHO they are. Villains are always fascinating but people like Punisher or Wolverine and what drives them to be heroes despite what they been through is a good idea.
A set of interesting connection between Magneto and philosophical thought. A key question in each case is how direct each reference to these philosophers is coming across in the comics. Are these comics referencing these ideas/philosophers by name? Or is it a more generalized feeling that the comics are imitating. Keep in mind that the accuracy of the representation of any of these philosophers is not important. (Getting Nietzche 'right' in a comic book would be silly/unlikely). However, comics do reference these thinkers obliquely regardless of how accurate their references are. Let's say that out of the references in this video, 1/10 of them is more-or-less an explicit reference from the text of the comics. Why is this one more direct than the others? I would suppose that the references would generally not be direct (Magneto quoting Schmitt directly in a comic bubble), but perhaps these references are more indirect references to popular lines from these philosophers. Before we can get into the significance of these references, we need to be sure of the extent to which these philosophical references are even happening. If the Nietzche references were more direct, for instance, that would be a real mind-bender.
Ahh yes "The Prince" a book that Machiavelli made to make fun of royalty/dictators saying they have no friends, no allies, no one they can trust, that they are an island in a sea of self doubt. Everyone knows that book, but not the companion book where Machiavelli praises democratic rule as the perfect way to rule.
I always view magneto ideal vision of mutant kind to be a utopia at 1st but after a few decades become a dystopia. Something like how classical facism (the italian one but fully realised by magneto) where it mutants are free and not persecuted. However eventually a monarchy or the the very least aristocracy will happen starting with magneto's family and then everyone else will pursue.
In due time like a few generations later a kratocracy on steroids combined with social darwinism and regular darwinism would happened both on a wider societal level and on an individualistic level. Discrimination among other mutants would be happening on a daily basis to the point where horrific scientific atrocities would be the norm. Even among individuals with the same powers discrimination would still happen.
Best case scenario would be mutual assured destruction on planet earth. Worst case scenario mutant and superhumans survived and took whatever ideology to the stars. So the entire dune series but with super powered individuals. Paul Atredies would be magneto's descendant or wanda's descendant. An even worst case scenario would be an all tomorrows scenario where celestials just genetically altering humanity even further or a xeelee scenario with actually cosmic entities added into the equation.
Every time I see that artwork I can only admire
Mags using Storm as a battery is hands down one of the best things ever in Marvel and i hope they do it in live action
I was thinking about Magneto early today and I was like couldn't he just pull a bunch of rare metals out of the ground and have unlimited money. Then he could solve a lot of problems with that money.
I love magneto more than anything

Love this series!!! I'm here for Thanos and would love to see a video on Reverse Flash!!!
Magneto was right to a point, he like many marxist groups lump entire races or creeds as well as classes together as evil ignoring the fact that good and evil breeds in all men's hearts not just one group nor are all members of a given group the same. The most oppressed is the individual thus a more libertarian approach works best. Your rights end where another's begins nor do the immutable traits of others matter as all have natural rights and should be judged on the content of character or merit alone.
Happy for the Russo Bros, though bittersweet for R. Coogler & D. Daniel (Shang Chi Director).
You should do Ozymandius from The Watchmen next, i feel we all know Thanos was right already 😂😂
I wonder if Magneto would say anything or DO anything about the way Israel's current genocide rampage.
Magneto is awesome but why not dominate regular humans or why not go to a nearby planet or realm and use Xavier to find other mutants born and immediately bring them to that planet or realm instead of depending on regular humans to except them as normal is the true question is why are normal humans special other alien races only invade earth bc of these mutants or super beings anyway so why would these superhumans desire so harshly to be accepted what’s the point other than to be gods that dominate and allow normal humans to be meat sacks
There are soooooo many differences between Magneto and Israel. They could actually learn a lot from him but I’ll assume their leaders don’t read comics.
