Mid 90s definitely the best time to be a wrestling fan and action figure collector.
Mid 90s product was pretty junk but the figures were better, late 90s was a way better in ring product imo
In hindsight, I wish I cleaned out the Kay Bees of the Hasbro figures they still had. Back in 1996-1999ish you could still get the 3 for $10 deal on Hasbro's.
Best time to be a fan was 85-90, best time to be a figure fan was 90-92.

The REAL Monday Night Wars happened in my room when my WWF Bone Crunchers took on my WCW Smash N Slam figs.
The amount of dream matches and multi ppv feuds that would go down on rainy weekends in my room with those figures
BCA is some of the best figures ever made love the cartoony style for some of them
Best podcast going today !! Bca fed was the absolute best fig fed of all time, kept books of all the Raws and ppvs , had entrance music , and my imagination was unbelievable!

My brother bought me Bret and my cousin Shawn Series 1.
We later got Vader which was the first one that broke.
Went to TRU, found the Monster ring, but couldn’t afford it,
then I ran into my aunt who gave me birthday money.
I bought the ring and my cousin opened it right outside the store.
I think we ended up with like 40 figs
and I still have most of them till this day.
Amazing video. Already watched it twice.
Accoring to Ultimate Warrior's shoot interview with RF Video, the phrase, "Always Believe" was not supposed to be on the Jakks package. When Warrior saw the packaging at a Toy Fair, he was upset and called Linda Mcmahon to complain. Warrior was no showing events and before the figure was sent to stores, he was gone from WWF.
This is one of my favorite Christmas traditions. I look forward to these as much as any gift I get. Thanks boys.

97 Deff the best year of wrestling hands down.
My first ever figures were Steve Austin and The Rock Bone Crunchers on Christmas Day in the late 90s. Tomorrow, my son will open his first wrestling figures, The Rock and Cody Rhodes basics, and a Wrekkin Forklift with Brock Lesnar.
This is my chance to start a brand new fig fed from scratch with my new co-booker.

This brings back so many wonderful memories. I remember finding so many of these at Hills and Ames stores. I started watching wrestling in February 1997 so I was ALL IN with these throughout the entire run.
This episode brings back so much nostalgia. The first time I remember seeing BCA’s, i went with my mom to Walmart before school and I saw series 1 HBK in blue and series 2 glow in the dark Undertaker. Those were my first two action figures of the BCA’s. When Brian mentioned he kept the cards after opening them I did the same thing. Jakks Pacific transcended the wrestling figures. Great episode. 🙌
This made me realize something. As kids playing with these, we were all little Bookers in training making matches and storylines with our figures lmao. That’s so funny to me now.

Seeing BCA Series 1 out of the blue at TRU as a kid was definitely one of those holy shit moments.
Funny story - for some reason, I thought the figures talked. They had a quote for each wrestler on the front, and I wasn't clear on what Bone Crunching Action meant. Plus, the microphone on the back. I really thought each wrestler said his quote somehow!

Some info from I can remember around these in the UK. Initially they were only available via mail order. I don’t think we got the first set until mid-97.
The first time I got them was at the merch stand at One Night Only. They had a separate figure stand and they were selling Bret, Shawn, Taker and Goldust. I got Bret and Taker.

I don't really remember but I am sure I got the undertaker and Shawn from Argos, I wouldn't have got them anywhere else. Just left a comment and had a look to see if there was any other UK comments for more detail. All the best.
I was five when these were out but daaamn do I recall owning a few and being blown away that they had the rubber feel and how gigantic they were haha. Awesome episode.

1996 is a memorable year for me... Jake Roberts came to my high school to do a speech about drugs and i got to interview him for the school newspaper
"Bone Crunching Action" was where it was at! Those were my first wrestling figures and once they lost that rubbery flexibility, they didn't feel like wrestling figures in my mind. They should really bring back that rubberized crunching reinvented with the better details and articulation. What would a new era of these figures look like?
I’ve been saying for years that w a more cost effective, less articulated, cartoonish action figure for kids under the age of 10 to really get rough with would be dope. Figures today are great, but something under $10 that kids could get rough with would ease my pain rather than handing my nieces and nephews a $27 elite figure
I’d love some cartoonishly jacked McIntyre with Claymore Kick! to battle it out with Kevin Owens without worrying about paint scuffs

I only had two wrestling figures growing up, both bone crunchers. Kane and stone cold. lol and I still remember them vividly today.

The 1 and Only BC Action figure I ever had was the S4 SCSA. I bought it in 97 at a Live Raw in Muncie, In. I kept that thing in the box for almost 10 years. When one of my children OPENED it. 😢.

I love the Jakks figures. While Hasbro’s were fun but I feel like Jakks Bone Crunchers for all their flaws were the resurrection of “ Wrestling Toys “ . The Hasbro era, the wrestlers were live action cartoon characters so it made sense to have their toys fit in with your Ninja Turtles and other toys. As the Mid 90’s changed the business the wrestlers felt like wrestlers again and Jakks felt like they weren’t fitting with your other toys, like the LJN’s these were toys for Wrestling! The rubbery bodies and crunching bones, the LJN repurposed ring, they broke and become “ Injured “ and would be glued, these were for slamming and Wrasslin! Fun. My favorite memory is having JJ go off the top ropes with my little brothers careful toss and somehow he landed Head first on top of Shawn Michaels who we had standing on his own, stayed perfectly vertical head to head for a solid second before they both tumbled down. We freaked out, keep your bleeding Jesus Statues, our miracle was the miracle of the Jeff Jarrett top rope Dhalsim spike.

Awesome video....i wish matt and brian would do a full video on their fig fed days, it reminds me so much of my childhood. Like when you got a new fig, you look at the depth chart, do i bring in this new guy as a heel or face? should he start as a manager? good times
i still think these figures had the best playability out of all wrestling figure lines. i got my first figures in 98 i was 5. later on there was the titan trons. I thought they looked super cool but not too good to play with. and it was the same with the RA figures that followed. could no longer do power bombs easily or frankensteiners easily. I was out of interest in wrestling when the mattels came out, i thought they looked scrawny and the basics standing straight just like the RA figs but somehow worse.
Even in the RA era, i wanted BCAs. I remember ordering with my parents thru Wrestling Super Store i believe. I wanted a jerry lawler figure so bad and got a Bad Boys series one for christmas one year. I also got a Gangrel because i thought he was so cool.
I remember as a kid, another kid had a bret hart which was the first time i had ever seen one in person
i was desperate for him to trade with me so i brought several figures and he begrudginly gave him to me. It was SUPER beat up, arm almost falling off, crack in torso, and loosey goosey but i loved it and would just look at it and admire it

That Bradshaw was the first "Bad Boy" I found, and it was great, and then I found Austin. Austin and the Toybiz Iceman was one of the first time I learned about how they would short ship the "hot" figures.

My first ever wrestling figure was a WrestleMania 15 Undertaker Bone Cruncher. Got Goldust shortly after.
In the In your house video game the green Warrior it is alternate color so like jakks both figure are actually base on the same color as the video game !!!
This reminded me all about my Goldust woes. Every Goldust bone cruncher I got lost his head! I hated how they did it

I bought Series 1 at a WWF House Show in October of 96 in Edmonton, AB .. I won 100 bucks playing bingo the night before and bought these from the merch stand the next day.. I also bought a Sunny T shirt and the brown foam IC belt that day too!!
He did wear plain white trunks with Bull Dog on them. That’s what the new Championship Showdown with HBK depicts.
As much as the figs are amazing, the card art is just as important to my memories of this line: the cold blue Wrestlemania XV packaging, the red white and blue King of the Ring, etc
The HBK and Vader two pack was the best. Red pants Shawn and Vader was sweet

I used to bug my older brother to take me to toys r us or Walmart like every weekend to look for figures… the first ones I had were Bret hart and diesel… picked up glow in the dark Taker and stone cold after.. had to have been the bad boys one.., I remember an employee stocking the shelves saw me picking it up and him saying “man everyone asking for that guy.. everyone a stone cold fan… I literally just put him on the shelf and he’s gone” 😂 …my mom would give us $5 every morning when we head out to school.. I’d use it sparingly until I saved up $20 and beg my brother to take me to the store… I was bummed we never got a Roddy Piper.. always wanted one for my Goldust to fight..i never got a razor either.. when in later waves we got Vince in wrestling gear… I swapped his arms out and put them on my stone cold because he had the black taped wrists without the elbow pads… and vise versa…also by this point they brought out a new stone cold head mold much smaller and fit way better…

I got into wrestling in 1996 ( i was 12 I'm a smidgen older than you guys) and right after that BCA figures dropped and WWF Full Metal album. I was set for my Fig Fed!
I believe that's Jerry Lawler's first ever figure too, which is crazy to think he didn't get a figure of any kind until 97
I found a Bone crunching Shawn Michaels that was either a misprint or variant. I found one with Red pants and Blue Gloves and Blue Pants with Red gloves.
man i wanted the red HBK so bad but was damn impossible to find, i finally ended up with the white one because i couldn't find the WM14 one or the red hearts, but i remember being so excited to finally have a HBK

Brian's voice started frogging-out a lil' bit with the Razor-Diesel 2 pack story. Either i"m overthinking it, or he chokes-up thinking about it. Which would be super cool, because I can relate with so many stories like that growing up
i was a die hard hasbro kid. however, I only had a handful of the jakks style figs. I grabbed a vader and mankind on a road trip when i was in the 6th grade and later an austin repaint when he was in his stone cold university gear and the last one I remember getting was a jim ross with the 'war tony' misprint. i also got a raw is war monster ring later on.. but I think I had tapped out on wrestling figs after that.
I was collecting Jakks BCA figures, damn near day 1. Great figures! Soooo fucking mad that I gave them to my little cousin. I had the raw is war monster ring and like 40 figures.
When these came out I was pretty much past buying toys, though I still walked the isles to see what was there. I remember being disappointed that these didn't come out when I was a younger kid. They seemed to be exactly what I always wanted from a wrestling toy. My brother had a nice selection from the first line or two of LJNs and I loved them despite being statues, but they weren't around long before my brother sold them. I didn't like the Hasbros that much because of the lack of articulation and the limiting action features that froze many of them into specific move poses (I especially disliked the jumpers with their legs stuck together and deformed back hunches). I only had two or three of them, which I enjoyed, but never got more than that. I do have nostalgia for them now, though. The Bendems never appealed to me and felt like cheap alternatives and toys for much younger kids. I always thought wrestling figures should be more like He-Man figures, which to me had what would be the perfect neutral wrestling pose. So I would have loved the AWA figures, but I never came across them as a kid.
The Bone Crunchers reminded me of that neutral pose. The only things I didn't like from what I saw were the arms that seemed too long and the shorts on figures like Razor looking like tiny speedos. To this day I have actually never handled a Bone Cruncher and have no idea what the bone crunching action feels like, despite seeing them in vintage toy stores. I need to remedy that.

Watching this took me back, I need to do a video on this and I am still upset that sold all my Jakks figures, I had the complete line, except a few including the warriors but man I let them all go in a damn garage sale. So mad til this day but I didn’t have room and needed the money.
There was a stone cold bone cruncher minus the stars. Not sure of card back or series number but exactly same as first release minus stars on boots. (I remember this because I had to hunt for the one without stars when it was fist released.) Also closer to end of BC line has action features Stone cold that performs kick for stunner doesn't have stars either. The Championship box TRU exclusive was the only place to get bone cruncher belts.
Puzzle Zoo Razor & Diesel probably had something to do with the WWF lawsuit against WCW. for the same reason Fake Razor & Fake Diesel even existed, the argument that they owned the characters and the characters still existed. Fake Razor and Fake Diesel also never had "fake" in their names, so it could be them
Where is the 4-Pack that had the Green Ultimate Warrior in it? That set actually came out before Series 2. Seeing these Bone Crunchers again brings back so much nostalgia! My little brothers and I collected them all, back in the days!
Same with me going to be in 7th grade in 97 when getting bad boys series, it's crazy timeline wise by the time the Justin Hawk Bradshaw figure comes out he is Blackjack Bradshaw but that's it goes with these figures.

BCA, the best line ever. I remember shitting myself walking into the toy isle at Walmart one day and seeing Razor and Shawn hanging there, my Dad got me both of them, then later Bret and Taker, then Deisel, and last Goldy, and not because I didn't like him or want him, but he was gonna be last by default, lol. 😉 And that damn Monster Ring, I f'n loved it, especially after that flimsy ass hair tie rope Galoob WCW ring.
That Warrior is my all time fav. I used it so much back in the day I broke his leg off, my parents got me a new one but wouldn’t let me open it because it would be worth something one day
