That's going top be tricky. There's no wood trim under the top area, where you can then attach the screws to? They should've done something like this for you, especially at the dishwasher area. Can you somehow attach the dishwasher to the side of the cabinets rather than the top? Joe :0
Ha! That"s right I can't do it,,, but YOU can! Repostion the dishwasher where you need it to be, then open the door to the dishwasher & resecure the 2 little metal brackets. You will more than likely need large screws but not too long. You should be able to just reach the bracket. Reposition the bracket & tighten up the screw. If the screw does not hold the bracket tight, then your screw is now too small (threads) & needs a fatter screw. Is the wood above the bracket tight? Let me know. Joe :0
As Eleazar asked, how do you secure it to Granite Countertop?
Yeah great question! what the initial countertop installers did (probably) was install like a plywood strip under there & glue to granite then little screws would go into the plywood strip. That's what you will usually see. Do NOT drill into the granite. I would not recommend this as you could crack your countertop. Can you install some side screws into the left & right edge of the dishwasher to then secure into the left cabinet & right side cabinet? Joe :0
ugh I wish you wouldve shown a camera angle to show the actual brackets... the brackets are just flat metal.. what on earth do they attach to the actual dishwasher with?
So sorry for not showing a camera view of the actual bracket. The bracket is something that comes with the dishwasher & is pre-attached to the top of the dishwasher & is then needed to be attached to the counter by the installer....ah...that would be YOU! In this case the screws had spun out & were not holding. That's why I needed to use new screws with bigger threads so the screws would hold in the particle board. Presto...problem solved! Joe :0
how can i secure it if contertop is granite
What if when you screw the dishwasher in it messes up the the leveling and makes it tilt back too much?
+Christie b It means that you have raised the front of the dishwasher too much & the front legs are prolly lifted off the ground & that is what is causing the dishwasher to tilt. You'd have to remove the toekick & shine a flashlight down there & you should see a leg at the front left side & the front right side. these legs should be on a screw rod which you can unscrew to lower the leg. Unscrew the top brackets & then make the feet brackets stick down farther so when you put the top screws in again it should then not raise the front of the dishwasher making it then tilt back at an angle. You might need a pair of pliers or a wrench to lower the legs or try unscrewing with just your fingers first & see what happens. let me know how you do!~
Well I guess I am doing something wrong because when I put the brackets on- there is no way I can secure it because when you push the dishwasher back to where you want it you cant do it???
You've got to have something to screw too for sure....look closely & figure it out. How did you do?
