Great effort, Robin! Good demonstration of saving seeds and it's wonderful you're doing it for others. Your information in the seed packets is among the best I've seen.
TY. I really enjoy volunteering for the Door County Seed Library. The organization works very hard to educate the county members who want to take advantage of the programs offered. I actually had 100% germination on the saved tomato seeds. So now I'll save even more for next year.🥰
This is such a lovely video. I was totally mesmerised by how many seeds you collect and save. What an amazing thing you are doing for your community. Impressive! I tested my luffa seeds for viability. Was so thrilled to see the roots start. Made me so proud. Hope your lights turn up. Your safe place is very safe!
TY so much. Guess what? Al found the lights about an hour ago....YAY! Now if we could only find the celery seed LOL. Just honks me off because there were sooooo many and it takes a minute and 2 years to get them. Oh well let that be the biggest problem we encounter. Hope your week is amazing.🥰
Wow Robin. Such a professional operation and how satisfying seeing all those little packets lined up. So generous ❤ Really enjoyed seeing you saving the seeds. And snow! 🎉
Aww TY. I really have a slick operation going now and I spend about half the time I have in the past. I'm doing toms right now. Still have not found the celery seed....but the good grow lights surfaced LOL Yippee😂🥰
Just dip your toes in and I promise you will be hooked. Arugula/Rocket is a great place to start. The only thing I begrudge a bit is having to wait on them to ripen....when I just want to rip them out and plant the next thing😍🤣🙂
Sitting in the high 800's right now, so I've surpassed last years 700 packs. I do the the whole process....well, the waiting on the seeds to ripen in the garden so I can plant something else, does get on my nerves at times ....🤣🤣🤣
You'll get there....you had a lot of other things to deal with in 2024. Once you start, you'll be amazed how many pollinators the veggies/herbs gone to seed draw in. So much more than a regular flower patch. I'm enjoying the redo of your backyard at home.
Wow awesome job Robin the seed library sure has a champion in you ❤. I like the plastic too for resealing because the paper ones don’t seal over and over. I’m chitting 😅 a lot more these days too it’s easier to see what is and isn’t viable. Have a fab week ahead, Ali 🥶🥶🇨🇦
It was weird I had a cotton pad out near the seed set up one day for another reason, and had the "ah ha" idea. I actually think I'll be doing more micro greens in the little containers. the size is perfect to fit around other pots etc under the lights......still haven't found my good lights yet.
Looks like a case for Sherlock Holmes - The Case of the Missing Grow Lights. Bet you won’t be left in the dark for to long. Great job getting all those seeds packaged to give away.
I need Sherlock on the job.....I've located the boxes and they contain the lights stands only.....but the lights are not there. I've also miss placed the celery seed. It's what happens when you host a gang for the holidays and have to tuck the stuff into unusual corners LOL🥰🥰🥰 TY for stopping by.
Wow Robin how organised are you! Your seed packets look so professional. ❤ The dill seeds look simikar to fennel seeds dont they. Not grown dill but on the list for this year. I really need to get going with organising my seeds. Not even looked at last years seeds yet! I love the idea of doing a seed viability test 👍 Micro greens are a great idea. I keep meaning to do that as live freshly shooted greens. Wow your viability test worked out well 👍 Wow look at all that snow, it dies look pretty 😍 Have a great week ❤ xx
They must dance for joy when they see you bring all those seeds! They look so professional. I just brought all my lights in. I keep them all in a tub in the shed. Do you rinse your sprouts? I use to use the jar with screen cap, but they get tangled. I purchased the round layered sprout container and love it. Rinse twice a day and have sprouts in about 4-5 days. My husband loves them and he was eating them out of sprouter and I was wondering why some looked thinner 😅. Do you like that brand of potting mix Menards carries now? I haven’t opened mine yet but soon to start onions. Keep up the great work!
Hi Robin! You still can't find your grow lights? You need to film all tidying and organizing and rewatch, lol. Maybe they went into the tetris party in the shed. Those clamp lights look great and practical though. I tested some poppy seeds meant for baking, on moist paper in a plastic bag. The internet told me those would most likely have been treated with something, since it's opium poppies, but they sprouted just fine. We are allowed to grow them here, just not make opium, which is fine by me. I have several other seeds meant for cooking and will test those too. They are a lot cheaper than other seeds. Super viability on those tomatoes, that must feel good! ☺ Trude
Still scratching my head on where we could have stashed them. At this point I'm wondering if we donated them to a charity on accident. The missing celery seeds are really distressing as well because that took a minute to collect. Oh well, things could be way worse. I should just put an order in for a light on amazon...then they will show up...LOL🥰 It's fun to try growing things from grocery store herbs and packs. I did beans a few years back and germination was perfect. Just don't really know the variety. I'll be looking forward to seeing those poppies grow. on your channel...those types form really cool huge seed pods I understand.
@@RobinGardens I have winter-sowed some of those seeds, but will start some more controlled to be sure something comes up as they need constant moisture when sprouting. I threw away those I tested because it's still way too early here, but it's nice to know they will sprout.
Forgot to say we had a 10p seed sale in mid Nov in B&Q (like Home Depot). 22 seed packets that was £38.50, i got for £2.20. As i spent over £25 on other things in total, i could use my £3 voucher, which meant i got them pretty much free! Such a bargain if you can get seeds in the sale!
Woooooah well done. 🤩 I love saving seed $$$ so I don't feel so guilty spending more online for the expensive stuff. Some of those F1's can be pricey.🍅
@@RobinGardens Yes, i have noticed that too. I try to keep as heirloom as i can but i love tomatoes like honeycomb. P.s. I think my first comment might be hidden as i can't see it. It might be the rear word in it! Sorry!

I really do enjoy the process bunches.

Friend I'm on the struggle bus with the alliums.....think the soil was bad, smelled musty. I'm gonna give in and sow more soon.
Yep I am going to use cotton pads too!!! Reminds me of using cotton wool back in my school days to grow cress ❤

I need to try some sprouts.
Yes, that starter mix is typically good. The 10c seed sale ends today 1/26. If you need anything.
