Matthias' acting in the pool area was awesome. The part Zubak realized Elena was lying. She had a similar lie in the earlier episodes.
That scene broke my heart thanks to Mathias. He knew he had no scape, but ended things persevering his love. Another brilliant performance from Mathias. I have never seen him make one mistake. He was so relatable that I just preferred her death. He was honest the whole time and loved her above all. For a moment I thought that maybe his naiveté would do his good and ascend him to power, but this ending was moving and somehow realistic as well.
@@estherbraga2341 i think she was honest too, but not with words. they sort of understood eachother without words. he understood her situation, and preffered to let her do what she had to do to survive.
I agree. That eyes of Matthias showed how good this guy as an actor
Yes, one of the best scenes from Matthias. Unfortunately, his great acting skills showed her in a terrible light, esp when she was over the top in the forest but just a few hours later reciting parliamentary procedure and negotiating her reinstatement. Just made her crazy performance sth a new inexperienced actor would do, whereas someone with her experience should've been more nuanced, not a blithering idiot.
Ep 6 totally lost the plot and failed to deliver on the promises made in Ep 1 as a 'poloitical satire'.
The problem getting a narcissistic famous actress is that they demand too much screen time so the plot suffered, despite very talented writers.
From Little Chaos to The Regime, Kate and Matthias have that chemistry and their acting just blends with each other. The producers made the right choice in choosing Matthias to play Zubak. That scene in the pool was so emotional, with those eyes of Matthias teary-eyed, sadness, and love...that is so Matthias. HBO, give this guy more projects, pls
I like to believe that Elena kept her promise and did not leave Zubak (as in keeping him inside a coffin for her to always visit) I think they truly love each other despite the ending.
I think the ending is one of the best in the last years of cinema. It was such a tense, unpredictable and emotional ending.
Such a shame so many people weren't able to understand this series and how telling it is for today's political context: corruption, betrayal and indifference to people. Kate Winslet and the whole cast were marvellous, another hit, Max!
Critics say the series has no political message other than “dictatorship per se is bad.” I disagree. There are at least 3 major takeaways here imo: 1) Bad leadership per se, not just dictatorships, leads to poor governance, destroying nations and ruining innocent lives (like Agnes and Oskar); 2) That throughout history bad leaders tend to persist and often get away with it; 3) That in much of modern history both bad and well-intentioned regimes are prone to eventually succumb to elite/big capital and giant power pressures, sometimes to the detriment of the underprivileged. That’s what the finale episode is really saying imo. So I did not really expect a series ending where justice is served, nor did I expect there’d be someone in the show to root for. That’s the satire of it. How it ended was actually closer to reality. The Regime is actually a good show.
@@madhatter8410 , yes, but that bad leadership is often seen in an authoritative regime, rather than a democratic one. We have also seen corrupt democrats, republicans and so on, but democracy is flexible. There is always room for improvement and change. Dictatorships aren't, they are stiff, extreme, they literally oppress and suppress their own people until they empoverish the whole nation. It's true any regime needs a superpower that can fund and susțain it, but Elena's final decision to stay in power (and basically be US's puppet) was another proof of the insane greed and power obsession dictators have. The series is extremely complex and nuanced and it perfectly emphasizes communism. Of course, it can also be a satire for both the left and right extremism, but as a Romanian, I was impressed with how accurately they portrayed the communist regime. I think of all 3 extremist regimes (communism, fascism, nazism), the first is the most delusional one and it creates this extremely false impression of stability and so-called egalitarianism. This is why what the leftists from nowadays promote is very dangerous.
@@madhatter8410 , a democracy is always fluid, it can improve or change. A dictatorship could never evolve, it just becomes more and more evil.

EP6 is brilliant!!
I hated it, I’m so angry. 😆
Crap. Failed to deliver on the promises of Ep 1. It became all aboutWinslets terrible acting and very little about the promised 'political satire'.
Entitled narcissistic actress prob demanded it be all about her crippling the talented writers.Even Hugh Grant was sidelined to a bit part and killed off.
What happened to the little boy? That was the cliffhanger.
I’m going to miss Zubak. He’s a brute and kinda crazy, but he loves with his whole heart and soul. (And also, he’s the sexiest brute ever, so.. Don’t look at me, I am what I am.) I really enjoyed this series ❤
No judgments on my part. He was hooot. ;)
This show was so funny throughout that I wasn't prepared for the last few minutes to be as poignant as they were! Just beautifully acted. The political message was also so bleak yet so true. As a citizen of one of 'those' European countries, it do be like that.
Did you mean Belarus or Russia by one of the European countries?
A series that is not without its problems, but Kate does not allow you to look away
An extraordinary
performance
This is her best role in the last decade, this is a phenomenal actress, in love with her
I strongly agree. Mare of Eastown was okay, this was perfection. So humane and bizarre at the same time. She is just amazing.
100 agreement. Kate does not allow you to look away. Spellbound!
Hey mayushin
you are correct
she is outstanding
love her
We stand with ISRAEL
she is amazing, and so beautiful
I enjoyed the show! Dope premise and good acting
I hate the last episode of the season of the series. 😡
Eu estou de coração partido 💔 por Elena e Herbert 😢😢😢 que fim triste, pois os dois tinha uma química fenomenal! Kate winslet é maravilhosa e fascinante ❤
need a season 2 !!
I’m angry and won’t watch another season.
History re-written where Lenin's coffin meets Elena Caeusescu meets Rasputin flashing forward to Moldava.
Greetings from argentina
Please, can someone write fan fiction for our mad couple? I just know they’re really in love 😢😢😢
I’d like to see more of Nick!
What happened to Oscar?
We will literally never know 😢
I think he most likely died. She was never that concerned with him in the previous episodes. I think when Agnes was killed it represented the end of both of them.
@@caffedinator5584 Season 2 shoud be about him and his conquest of the regime.
Hold on, I wonder about Matthias’ explanation at 3:33-3:37. Did a scene get deleted in this finale episode -- specifically that part, right after he woke up with a gun trained on his face? Because a split second before the scene was cut, it looked like he tried to dodge it (3:28). Matthias even kinda implied here that although his Zubak character already knew that he was cooked, he did not intend to go without a fight. Boy, I would have liked to see him give it a go one last time, in a spectacular blaze of brutish glory. 💪Just saying.
Son sólo 6 capítulos?
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
The best show ive seen for months. Specially that mocking and trolling russia (yeah i live here and can relate to all things in the series lol) and US (known (and controlable) devil is better than unknown angel and stuff). But this personal story that chemistry between Elena and Zubak is more than political games.
Well, at least that's not a real betrayal..if she didn't choose to sacrifice him, they both would have been killed anyway. She just decided to survive.
But did she even try to negotiate some kind of secret asylum deal for him? I’d like to think she did.
@@terry9238 i dont think she was in a condition of negotiate anything. Im sorry but I think the betrayal is pointless, he was dead anyway. The power was her life insurance.
Season 2 comming?
no way this was a limited series
but, the serie end?
WORST ACTRESS GOLDEN RASPBERRY AWARD for Winslet! Lol
Ep 6 totally failed to deliver on the promises made in Ep 1 of a 'political satire '.
Famous narcissistic actress demanded too much screen time without the chops to deliver (her acting and constant closeups of her ugly mouth that appeared to have collapsed from years of abuse with botox and fillers) gave me a headache), esp with talented Matthias in the same shots. His pool scene expression change when he realized she had given him up was a masterclass in nuanced acting, delivering a more powerful punch than any of her over the top screaming scenes.
If I never see a Winslet scene ever it will be too soon! ROFL
