    • @RC15O5

      In a sense, the Persianized Seljuks and their Ottoman successors could be thought of as Persians that conquered Greece again. I know that they are not native Iranians (far form it), its just history that is rhyming again, as Mark Twain would put it.

    • @bardockobama5495
      @bardockobama5495 5 років тому +39

      At that point, considering Seljuks as Persians would be like considering Iranians as Arabs.
      The conquest of Alexander kinda scared the Persians from attacking the greeks for a long time.

      Major pitched battles? It's probably fewer than you may think. Dara, Ad Decimum, Tricameron (arguably beause John the Armenian could have been in charge) and his swansong battle. He lost Callinicum, Thannuris and the battle during the Siege of Rome. 4:3 isn't incredible but the reason we study Belisarius isn't for his tactical genius but his strategic genius - or his tragic character, if you're more into that!

I mean even this video contained a lot of wins for the Sassanids, but you only explained the one incident that the Romans won. I went through your videos, and there was tens of videos on Persians loses against Greeks and then Romans and then Arabs and then Mongols and zero video on them winning. I would appriciate a few wins at least, to balance it up! Thanks.

      I'm not an Iranian but I do admire Iran's great civilization very much, when you self study and subsequently get freed from the western propaganda, you absolutely can't deny the greatness and influence of Iranian civilization and it's continuing civilization, culture and importance ; lol even today Iran is a relevant country in the world just like how it always was through the history of mankind.

    You guys have created a new standard for documentaries. I've never seen such high quality productions as yours. Even better than Bazbattles!
    Still there are some things you can improve, I think:
    - The intro is epic but too long for such a short video.
    - It's hard to keep track of the generals when there are no names on display. A tiny label would be helpful.
    - The maps are beautiful, but sometimes fucked up. Perhaps you should cooperate with a map maker on UA-cam?

    • @KingsandGenerals
      @KingsandGenerals  7 років тому +14

      Delegation. General stays behind the main line and has 3 generals leading left/right/center. He sends them the message on the overall movement, then these generals order their captains who lead the different units. The Romans were the first who implemented this system, as eventually the orders reached the centurions, who commanded 80-200 men. That gave the Roman armies the needed flexibility.

      The *muslims* invaded partially because Khosrow’s successor alianated his Arabic allies and quaralled with them. Before that they had been a buffer zone in the south. At the same time turkic tribes in the east was attacking from the east at an over extending army. It had little to do with the Roman and Iran rivalry and more to do with infighting in the Sasanid Empire.
