    I know this is an old video, but my husband took me to a nursery for Valentine's Day to pick a plant. The Hoya kerrii was the one I wanted, and thankfully, I found one with two leaves. I have a great south-facing window next to my Albos. Thanks for the tips.

Looked up care and found out they grow into vines, woah that’s amazing!! So I get all excited, go online and find out PSYCHE mine will probably stay a leaf. Thanks for watching! I'm actually guilty of not fertilizing my kerrii consistently 😅 I use a foliar spray (directly applying nutrients on the leaves), and sometimes a soil enhancer from Marphyl. Also, my kerri stops growing complete every year from Sep - April, so I won't be surprised yours isn't gonna do anything for a while (unless it's summer where you live?)

    • @HomebyFaith
      @HomebyFaith  4 роки тому +4

      Thanks for watching! Unfortunately most one leaf hoya will die before growing a new vine. If you are able to keep it healthy for a few years it may grow a vine. It really depends on how much of the main stem it has attached to the one leaf (most don't)

    Hello, this is such a good care guide. I think I have seen your Kerrii with the bamboo cage being shared on Instagram for so many times, absolute stunner! I have Hoya Kerriis green and variegated as well. I found that on new grow leaves, they normally come in pairs, one side of the leave grew big first and I would expect the other side to be the same. However to my surprise, the other baby leave just stayed the same size, turned a bit pink then a bit red and dropped. I water my kerriis accordingly to the season, and the pots have drainages. The kerris are also in good lightings. Just wondering if you had the same issue? And would you please share if you have any tips for that? I’d really like them to come in pairs and I know they can, because the more mature leaves down close to the roots are in pairs. Thanks!

    • @HomebyFaith
      @HomebyFaith  4 роки тому +1

      Hi there, are they growing during winter? If so, it's probably not the best scenario. However, they really have to be in the wild, with the heat, humidity, nutrients and something to climb in order to grow nicely. Mine sometimes grow in pairs, but usually just one side grows out before the other.

    • @m.w4649
      @m.w4649 4 роки тому

      @@HomebyFaith hi faith. After my attempt of fixing the issue. I’ve be changing my kerrii’s location and found it growing perfectly fine in morning sunlight. Facing north east (I’m in Australia). The leaves are finally come in pairs and baby leaves no longer drop. I did took note from u by adding more humidity and nutrients. We will see if it grows crazy in the next few months:) Thanks Faith!

      Northern. If you live in Southern hemisphere, then you'd want to put it in a north-facing window. x

    Wow, this was very informative! Thank you for sharing. I just got an eight leaf Hoya. #plantgoals. Is it true they don’t mind being pot bound?

      I find their roots grow very slowly compared to other plants, so a smaller pot is always more ideal. They also flower in a smaller pot too.

    So pretty! So how often do you let it dry out before you water it again

    • @HomebyFaith
      @HomebyFaith  4 роки тому +2

      About one month! It dries slower in the winter so maybe 6-8 weeks.

      Thank you for your answer! So you completely soak it and drain extra water and then re-water In a monthish- does it matter if it’s under a grow light

      @@2Stephygirl2 Every grow light is different, and depends on how long you turn it on for.. so it's hard for me to tell you exactly when to water. You'll have to feel the weight of the pot and perhaps feel the soil a few inches down the top. If its dried, nothing sticks to your finger, and if its very light weight - meaning its dried out, then water it. Hope that helps!

      Thank you so much. I’ll definitely do it that way.! My first time with that kind and I don’t want to ruin her beautiful leaves 4.

    Thank you for all the information! I just got a plant from Target, I didn't intend to get one but felt compelled to save it as it was the only green not dying one there. Now that I've researched a bit I'm concerned that the consensus is it may have been just a leaf cutting with no stem and may be doomed to die. I pulled it out of the 21" pot it's in and I see there are roots around where the dirt meets the pot but I can't tell if there is a stem or not with disturbing the soil and I don't want to do that. My question is do you think I should repot since I can see the roots winding all around the outside of the dirt ball and how often do you think it should be watered if it's just a leaf cutting? Thank you in advance for answering!

      Leaf cutting will root but not grow into a plant

    My Hoya Kerri came planted in a piece of wood/bark and I’m wondering if I should repot it in soil for better growth or just let it be?

    • @HomebyFaith
      @HomebyFaith  4 роки тому

      You can pot it WITH the piece of wood if you dont want to risk damaging the roots
