Am a bit confused I just watched other topic how to grow hoya or propagate. They say hoya don't like water. I have hoya growing in my garden I wrapped it around the fern tree. I was planning to propagate that Is why am trying to find some guidelines. Thank you for sharing. I believe you. Live your hoya Kerri.
Hello. Your video is really useful. I just got small hoya kerrii. But its condition is not well. Leaves are thin and rolled down. Please, advise how to save it 😢
Hello, this is such a good care guide. I think I have seen your Kerrii with the bamboo cage being shared on Instagram for so many times, absolute stunner! I have Hoya Kerriis green and variegated as well. I found that on new grow leaves, they normally come in pairs, one side of the leave grew big first and I would expect the other side to be the same. However to my surprise, the other baby leave just stayed the same size, turned a bit pink then a bit red and dropped. I water my kerriis accordingly to the season, and the pots have drainages. The kerris are also in good lightings. Just wondering if you had the same issue? And would you please share if you have any tips for that? I’d really like them to come in pairs and I know they can, because the more mature leaves down close to the roots are in pairs. Thanks!
Hi there, are they growing during winter? If so, it's probably not the best scenario. However, they really have to be in the wild, with the heat, humidity, nutrients and something to climb in order to grow nicely. Mine sometimes grow in pairs, but usually just one side grows out before the other.
@@HomebyFaith hi faith. After my attempt of fixing the issue. I’ve be changing my kerrii’s location and found it growing perfectly fine in morning sunlight. Facing north east (I’m in Australia). The leaves are finally come in pairs and baby leaves no longer drop. I did took note from u by adding more humidity and nutrients. We will see if it grows crazy in the next few months:) Thanks Faith!
My Hoya Kerri is blooming now and the vine gets longer and longer. I am not sure what to do. I have 10 leaves at the bottom 20 cm and now the vine is an additional 40 cm longer but no leaves.
Usually wonky shaped leaves are grown in between seasons, during in consistent watering or just the plant is in shock. I would try putting it in a bag to give it more humidity, and let time do its thing! It's nothing to worry about though!
I need help! I purchased a baby with 4 leaves and lost one because it was in too wet of soil.. it was shipped to me and I left it for a week in the soil. I thought I’d change the soil after that and the leaves seem very soft 😭 I don’t know if it just needs water.. I was surprised at how you watered yours I didn’t think they’d drink up that much water in the shower!
Are the leaves soft in wet soil? I'd definitely pull it out to check the roots! If the roots are indeed rotted, they'll be mushy and easy to pull apart. Don't worry! Hoya kerrii roots VERY quickly in water! Or even in a ziplock bag with a bit of water droplets too!
@@HomebyFaith I put in nee soil and it’s doing much better! Ty.. I find the leaves get soft when it needs watering also.. it happened shortly after potting it and I gave it a drink and it perked up! 😊
Thanks for the information. I have hoya plant with me but they looks not really happy, the leaves are with obvious veins and the leaves are thin and long. Do you know what can I do to make them grow better?
This is a gorgeous Hoya Kerrii and is without a doubt the most healthy and full Kerrii I've ever seen. You can really tell how much care and love you put into her. I hope to have one this dashing one day to add to my collection
You didn't mention how often you water. I've been using Alaska Fish Fertilizer on Hoyas there getting new growth, that's all I use, other Fertilizers Ebsom Salts, Super Thrive, Medina Hasta Grow didn't get new growth at all.
PLEASE HELP! I have a question! My variegated Kerri got thin sides?! No sure how! I definitely haven’t over waters so maybe under? But it side there almost like half circle that is thin and flopped the rest of the leaves is fine although I would say thinning now what can be the cause ?
I know this is an old video, but my husband took me to a nursery for Valentine's Day to pick a plant. The Hoya kerrii was the one I wanted, and thankfully, I found one with two leaves. I have a great south-facing window next to my Albos. Thanks for the tips.
Hi, Thank you for this video, U really made it to the point and right information, I love how ur plant looks ❤. Would like to know the best temperature range in which the plant can survive?
Very nice advice on this Kerri hoya. Thanks so much for for sharing your beautiful collection. I look forward to more. I got a leaf starter which has grown slowly but now has over 12 leaves taking 2 years.
I’ve had mine for about a year it grew two hearts. One was shaped as a heart the other one with just a big teardrop shape. When’s the best time to transplant it fall summer winter? And mine is growing a long stem now that I see yours I’m going to need to steak it up
Ive had mine for 2 years , just a little heart in a pot , now ita growing a little stalk with a tiny heart.... do i leave it attached ? Or is that a baby that needs its own pot. And does that mean its gunan grow like yours ?
Thank you for the great Hoya Kerrii care lesson! I’ve grown one from a single leaf and am looking for to using your advice. Your teaching style is pleasant and knowledgeable! Thanks!!
😍 such goals.. I bought mine with 5 leaves.. already grown another 6 leaves.. I never touch the baby leaves as i broke some before.. mine would go dormant for a while then when its growing season, it grows really fast and continuously..
You guys should take a peek into the soil and see if you have a node under the leaf! They'll grow if it's not just a leaf. Unfortunately if it's only a leaf it will remain a leaf :(
It's extremely rare for a single heart cutting to contain enough node tissues to grow into a full plant. Even if it does it will take years. Usually at this point the leaf is getting too old to survive. I've seen a nursery that sells thousands of single hearts and only resulted in a dozen of them growing new vines.
I think my kerrii is between a splash and regular green actually! The variegation on the leaves are not as intense as the splash variety. And thank you!
During winter i put mine in a giant plastic bag to keep it humid inside, and water it much less as the soil doesn't dry as fast. no grow light, just same spot next to my south west window.
Beautiful healthy Kerii you have there ❤️❤️ I into Hoyas just recently, my first was Kerii and received on February 2021, as rooted cuttings, it’s been growing since weather getting warmer ( maybe May 🤔) now is end of July I noted it has 2 peduncle already, I am excited!! Any care tips? TIA . Enjoy so much your video 🙏
This is such a great video 😃 I got mine about a month ago and I am learning to take proper care of her , would you mind sharing tips on frequency of watering if it’s in a bright indirect light all day , and about 1 hour of direct morning light ? Thanks in advance !!!
Saw your kerrii on Instagram some months ago and immediately fell in love, now I have one growing on a bamboo hoop trellis like yours and it's just starting to grow new leaves 🥰 thank you for the inspiration and advice!
I’m glad I found your video!! I’ve had mine for over a year and I noticed only recently it’s starting to grow.. but just the stem seems to be thriving ☹️but do the hearts start popping out later? It does get lots of bright indirect light.
Glad you did this after having the plant for a few years. I’ve had mine for two and it hasn’t grown much. When I search for information on this particular plant I never really find much info. This is much appreciated! Thank you 🙏🏽
This is a really informative video. I just bought a Hoya with just 1 leaf, do you have any idea about when it will start growing a vine with proper lighting and watering?
Thanks for watching! Unfortunately most one leaf hoya will die before growing a new vine. If you are able to keep it healthy for a few years it may grow a vine. It really depends on how much of the main stem it has attached to the one leaf (most don't)
I love how straight forward your video is. Btw, do you give any fertilizer to your Kerrii? What fertilizer & how often do you give? I got variegated Kerrii about 4 months ago, it doesn’t show any growth whatsoever ☹️ (I put it on my south facing window)
Thanks for watching! I'm actually guilty of not fertilizing my kerrii consistently 😅 I use a foliar spray (directly applying nutrients on the leaves), and sometimes a soil enhancer from Marphyl. Also, my kerri stops growing complete every year from Sep - April, so I won't be surprised yours isn't gonna do anything for a while (unless it's summer where you live?)
@@HomebyFaith amazing! I really like that thank you, I dont think mines going to bloom this next spring/summer. it's a smaller plant with only 4 great big hearts. I am very interested in encouraging leaf growth as much as possible. I aim to have the same fullness of leaves that yours has ♡ (:
Very good informative video.I grow orchids but lately I got in to Hoya.and I like that Hoyas are more easy to grow.I think I will get some bloom soon.like and subscribe.
I just bought 11 kinds of hoya palanted in coconut. I dont know how to taje care of them. Theyre crawling and just han them. How cam i make trelis fir them since theyre in a coconut shelf. I want them to stand like yours that upholds them because tgey have roots. How?
I came here after searching. I have many Hoyas but I found the succulents grow slower. I bought a variegated Kerrii which was not the best in shape plant. One leaf dropped off when I first took it home. It has lost a further two. The last one was very variegated. It't's not right by the south facing window to avoid leaf scorch but it is not doing well even with letting the soil dry out. I did notice it has was looks like rust. I checked the roots and they are healthy, I repotted it into a smaller pot today to stop it sitting in damp soil. Any tips?
Hi Fraser, my variegated kerrii is also a lot harder to keep happy compared to the green one. I leave it inside a clear plastic bag so it gets almost 100% humidity and that seems to make it very happy. I only water it once a month because the leaves can absorb water through the air inside the bag. Now that you've repotted it, next step is to give it lots of humidity all the time. Mine is at the south window and it doesn't get scorch. Good luck!
@@HomebyFaith Thanks for the response. I am glad I am not alone. I have lovely humidifier and we have more sun again, so will wait a few more weeks before putting into the bag. It is close to a south facing window next to some other more succulent Hoya's that prefer more light (obovata) just not on the cacti table. I have just received my finlaysoni today which I see likes that same treatment of being covered in a bag. But I moved my less common red pubicalyx as I thought it being more succulent than the other would like more sun. So put it by the other one and will see what happens. I don't have this drama with my philo collections. But the more plants we get the more shelves need going up for trailing plants
I love your video very helpful. If I buy a leaf cutting with roots. How often to water? I hear that sometimes the nurseries sell them with the roots not so strong. 🤔 So would like to know how to care for just 1 heart purchase from a nursery or from anyone. Thanks such and LOVE you drawing video definitely will try it qith my daughter. she'll love it😍
I got a single leaf clipping 2 yrs ago and to my surprise 2 more leaves sprouted this year, but they sprouted out of the soil, not into a vine. How can I grow it into a plant? Bigger pot? Give it a trellis?
Hey guys! I just posted a plant update on how it's doing in the past 8 months! Watch it here: ua-cam.com/video/lr6oEEDqxDs/v-deo.html
