I know this is an old video, but my husband took me to a nursery for Valentine's Day to pick a plant. The Hoya kerrii was the one I wanted, and thankfully, I found one with two leaves. I have a great south-facing window next to my Albos. Thanks for the tips.
This is a gorgeous Hoya Kerrii and is without a doubt the most healthy and full Kerrii I've ever seen. You can really tell how much care and love you put into her. I hope to have one this dashing one day to add to my collection
Thank you for the great Hoya Kerrii care lesson! I’ve grown one from a single leaf and am looking for to using your advice. Your teaching style is pleasant and knowledgeable! Thanks!!
Very nice advice on this Kerri hoya. Thanks so much for for sharing your beautiful collection. I look forward to more. I got a leaf starter which has grown slowly but now has over 12 leaves taking 2 years.
Saw your kerrii on Instagram some months ago and immediately fell in love, now I have one growing on a bamboo hoop trellis like yours and it's just starting to grow new leaves 🥰 thank you for the inspiration and advice!
😍 such goals.. I bought mine with 5 leaves.. already grown another 6 leaves.. I never touch the baby leaves as i broke some before.. mine would go dormant for a while then when its growing season, it grows really fast and continuously..
Glad you did this after having the plant for a few years. I’ve had mine for two and it hasn’t grown much. When I search for information on this particular plant I never really find much info. This is much appreciated! Thank you 🙏🏽
Love your Kerrii! Everyone has said it grows super slow I’ve had one for about a year I get new leaves every week. I let it get super dry before I water ! And bright light for hours it sits in a south facing window!
Just about the best video on You tube showing everything you need to know about this stunning plant. I have just bought two; so this is going to be SO HELPFUL. Many thanks. Looking forward to more videos!
@@HomebyFaith yes, i was inspired, and now i have them, i have carefully put them on bamboo trellis like the one in your video, so now i have just got to wait for them to settle in and watch them grow all being well!
Hi, Thank you for this video, U really made it to the point and right information, I love how ur plant looks ❤. Would like to know the best temperature range in which the plant can survive?
Am a bit confused I just watched other topic how to grow hoya or propagate. They say hoya don't like water. I have hoya growing in my garden I wrapped it around the fern tree. I was planning to propagate that Is why am trying to find some guidelines. Thank you for sharing. I believe you. Live your hoya Kerri.
Thanks for the information. I have hoya plant with me but they looks not really happy, the leaves are with obvious veins and the leaves are thin and long. Do you know what can I do to make them grow better?
Well this was a rollercoaster. I found a little Hoya Kerri leaf at a garden center, thought it was adorable and instantly brought it. Looked up care and found out they grow into vines, woah that’s amazing!! So I get all excited, go online and find out PSYCHE mine will probably stay a leaf. On the one hand I love the tiny plant I think it’s so cute but on the other I kinda wish it could vine :/
Keep hope alive! I bought a single heart Hoya (from a very responsible seller who told me it might stay that way forever), and to my surprise, it sprouted two new leaves about a year and a half in! Happy Hoya-ing!
Beautiful healthy Kerii you have there ❤️❤️ I into Hoyas just recently, my first was Kerii and received on February 2021, as rooted cuttings, it’s been growing since weather getting warmer ( maybe May 🤔) now is end of July I noted it has 2 peduncle already, I am excited!! Any care tips? TIA . Enjoy so much your video 🙏
I’m glad I found your video!! I’ve had mine for over a year and I noticed only recently it’s starting to grow.. but just the stem seems to be thriving ☹️but do the hearts start popping out later? It does get lots of bright indirect light.
This is such a great video 😃 I got mine about a month ago and I am learning to take proper care of her , would you mind sharing tips on frequency of watering if it’s in a bright indirect light all day , and about 1 hour of direct morning light ? Thanks in advance !!!
Hello. Your video is really useful. I just got small hoya kerrii. But its condition is not well. Leaves are thin and rolled down. Please, advise how to save it 😢
I love how straight forward your video is. Btw, do you give any fertilizer to your Kerrii? What fertilizer & how often do you give? I got variegated Kerrii about 4 months ago, it doesn’t show any growth whatsoever ☹️ (I put it on my south facing window)
Thanks for watching! I'm actually guilty of not fertilizing my kerrii consistently 😅 I use a foliar spray (directly applying nutrients on the leaves), and sometimes a soil enhancer from Marphyl. Also, my kerri stops growing complete every year from Sep - April, so I won't be surprised yours isn't gonna do anything for a while (unless it's summer where you live?)
I bought 3 Kerri hoya plant about 12/13 years ago 3 years ago 1 of these started growing a new shoot now it has 13 leaves my second had had 2 leaves and my third still no leaves all in the same window sill they all sit in the same container so are watered the same but such a huge difference between the 3
I’ve had mine for about a year it grew two hearts. One was shaped as a heart the other one with just a big teardrop shape. When’s the best time to transplant it fall summer winter? And mine is growing a long stem now that I see yours I’m going to need to steak it up
Thanks for the great information. My hoya kerrii grew very nicely over the summer but I just noticed the stem at the tip seems to be drying out. I'm not sure if I should cut it off or leave it alone. Any advice?
Ive had mine for 2 years , just a little heart in a pot , now ita growing a little stalk with a tiny heart.... do i leave it attached ? Or is that a baby that needs its own pot. And does that mean its gunan grow like yours ?
This is a really informative video. I just bought a Hoya with just 1 leaf, do you have any idea about when it will start growing a vine with proper lighting and watering?
Thanks for watching! Unfortunately most one leaf hoya will die before growing a new vine. If you are able to keep it healthy for a few years it may grow a vine. It really depends on how much of the main stem it has attached to the one leaf (most don't)
I love your video very helpful. If I buy a leaf cutting with roots. How often to water? I hear that sometimes the nurseries sell them with the roots not so strong. 🤔 So would like to know how to care for just 1 heart purchase from a nursery or from anyone. Thanks such and LOVE you drawing video definitely will try it qith my daughter. she'll love it😍
Hello, this is such a good care guide. I think I have seen your Kerrii with the bamboo cage being shared on Instagram for so many times, absolute stunner! I have Hoya Kerriis green and variegated as well. I found that on new grow leaves, they normally come in pairs, one side of the leave grew big first and I would expect the other side to be the same. However to my surprise, the other baby leave just stayed the same size, turned a bit pink then a bit red and dropped. I water my kerriis accordingly to the season, and the pots have drainages. The kerris are also in good lightings. Just wondering if you had the same issue? And would you please share if you have any tips for that? I’d really like them to come in pairs and I know they can, because the more mature leaves down close to the roots are in pairs. Thanks!
Hi there, are they growing during winter? If so, it's probably not the best scenario. However, they really have to be in the wild, with the heat, humidity, nutrients and something to climb in order to grow nicely. Mine sometimes grow in pairs, but usually just one side grows out before the other.
@@HomebyFaith hi faith. After my attempt of fixing the issue. I’ve be changing my kerrii’s location and found it growing perfectly fine in morning sunlight. Facing north east (I’m in Australia). @@2Stephygirl2 Every grow light is different, and depends on how long you turn it on for.. so it's hard for me to tell you exactly when to water. You'll have to feel the weight of the pot and perhaps feel the soil a few inches down the top. Thank you for all the information! I just got a plant from Target, I didn't intend to get one but felt compelled to save it as it was the only green not dying one there. Wow, this was very informative! Thank you for sharing. I just got an eight leaf Hoya. #plantgoals. Is it true they don’t mind being pot bound?
I find their roots grow very slowly compared to other plants, so a smaller pot is always more ideal. They also flower in a smaller pot too.
So pretty! So how often do you let it dry out before you water it again
About one month! It dries slower in the winter so maybe 6-8 weeks.
Thank you for your answer! So you completely soak it and drain extra water and then re-water In a monthish- does it matter if it’s under a grow light
