Haven't laughed this much at an SMG4 video in so long. This is where SMG4 has always been at it's peak. No dramatic story, no cringey character development, just classic Mayreo doing Mayreo stuff, and the remastered aspect makes it INfinitely better! Holy crap was this a blast in the past. Both parts of this episode were so nostalgic and fun. And man, 4:15 was it funny to see that face again. 10/10 video
These old videos weren't "old Gmod videos" really, most of these were mainly or even entirely Mario 64 videos, Gmod only being used occasionally for certain gags, some background locations that just didn't exist in Mario 64 or romhacks, and a couple characters. The Cake was a Lie had no Gmod at all, Who Let The Chomp Out had very little and was like 98% Mario 64, etc.
I really love how these remasters look! they're so fun and a great tribute to some of the best of SMG4's content, I would love to see Boil the Big Bully, snowtrapped, and many more of the classics remastered!
More like since the characters like Meggy, Bob, and Boopkins are more focused on. Heck even Peach and Bowser barely show up anymore. Most of the time for a quick gag.

The cake is a lie episode being remastered, even though it wasn’t the video that introduced me to him, still holds so much significance due to it being the VERY first one.. And I think you nailed remastering it. ..on the contrary, however, I feel as if the over abundance of Gmod replacing the old SM64 Mario snippets was a touch that kind of degraded some of the random comedy of both videos. Now this isn’t THAT much of a problem for the cake is a lie, mainly since that thing is old enough to have a social security number of -5 and I think the new Gmod animation really helps breathe new life into it. But as someone who watched the old Mario Simulator video, the old one definitely wins over the new one. My reasoning? Too much Gmod and animation in the remaster that makes everything feel too smooth and not as sporadic, which was a part of the appeal of some of SMG4’s older works. At least for me, that is. It kind of acted as an “ambiance” that tied all of the stupidity together with duct tape and glue. Now with how smooth and animated everything is, it LITERALLY loses its comedic edge by being more easily explainable. It’s like trying to make the same thing as before, except now you’re using better materials, and it’s worsening the product’s inner qualities because of it. Compare that to Mario randomly shifting in and out of Gmod and SM64 models more frequently, or just straight up shoving a snippet of him doing a crouch or break dance from his original game just being taped onto the video as if it was an after thought.. THAT was hilarious to me! Everything else that came with it, from the hi jinx, to the capers, and even the memes, it was all so elevated in quality because of how LOW quality everything was, including the SM64 Mario usage. Iffin’ another remastered 64 is to come out, I’m watching either way, because this stuff is good. And despite what I said here, the animations have still gotten splendid as per usual.. I just wanted to spread to the world why said animation makes these older videos lose some of their comedic charm in my eyes, that’s all. Hopefully a ‘budget’ SMG4 video could be a possibility. Maybe then there’d be some credible proof behind my points, and there’d be more people like me who share similar notion? Who knows, and frankly, who cares. _Good work, SMG!_

The cake is a lie episode being remastered, even though it wasn’t the video that introduced me to him, still holds so much significance due to it being the VERY first one.. And I think you nailed remastering it.
..on the contrary, however, I feel as if the over abundance of Gmod replacing the old SM64 Mario snippets was a touch that kind of degraded some of the random comedy of both videos. Now this isn’t THAT much of a problem for the cake is a lie, mainly since that thing is old enough to have a social security number of -5 and I think the new Gmod animation really helps breathe new life into it. But as someone who watched the old Mario Simulator video, the old one definitely wins over the new one.
My reasoning? Too much Gmod and animation in the remaster that makes everything feel too smooth and not as sporadic, which was a part of the appeal of some of SMG4’s older works. At least for me, that is. It kind of acted as an “ambiance” that tied all of the stupidity together with duct tape and glue.
Now with how smooth and animated everything is, it LITERALLY loses its comedic edge by being more easily explainable. It’s like trying to make the same thing as before, except now you’re using better materials, and it’s worsening the product’s inner qualities because of it. Compare that to Mario randomly shifting in and out of Gmod and SM64 models more frequently, or just straight up shoving a snippet of him doing a crouch or break dance from his original game just being taped onto the video as if it was an after thought.. THAT was hilarious to me! Everything else that came with it, from the hi jinx, to the capers, and even the memes, it was all so elevated in quality because of how LOW quality everything was, including the SM64 Mario usage.
Iffin’ another remastered 64 is to come out, I’m watching either way, because this stuff is good. And despite what I said here, the animations have still gotten splendid as per usual.. I just wanted to spread to the world why said animation makes these older videos lose some of their comedic charm in my eyes, that’s all. Hopefully a ‘budget’ SMG4 video could be a possibility. Maybe then there’d be some credible proof behind my points, and there’d be more people like me who share similar notion? Who knows, and frankly, who cares.
