I've returned to costuming after a few years absence and everyone is now talking about sanding instead of melting the ends of plastic boning. I've always just set up a candle outside and melted the ends of my boning, when I tried sandpaper it didn't really seem to create a properly smooth surface and it took ages. I suppose if you happened to be willing to invest in more power tools for your sewing habit this would at least speed up the process if you're concerned about fumes or accidentally touching hot plastic.

Very clever!
Can you use this for a hoopskirt
I do not think it would be nearly supportive enough.
