@@itguru2037 Ron Howard, too, lived in the neighborhood and tried to jam with Jeff Porcaro when they were kids. Jeff was too good for him. @@itguru2037indeed, it is pretty amazing! TOTO‘s depth of pure unadulterated creativity and musicianship is a once in a lifetime creation. Every single, one of them, a musical prodigy. I believe that it was there ability to do everything, which is where their name came from I believe, is what makes it difficult to classify them. To think of all the songs for other bands and individuals that they were studio musicians, composers, producers and arrangers for, would probably blow peoples’ minds.
In terms of musicianship this might of been their best lineup, in my opinion. The lineup for the Tambu album and tour were basically the same but Simon played drums instead of Jeff, because as you know Jeff passed during the rehearsals for the Kingdom Of Desire tour. In terms of drumming I think Jeff kind of stepped out of his comfort zone and tried new things, with this album. This concert was just insane! Also, I think, KOD is one of the best albums they every did. They are one of the greatest bands of all time, imo. Long live Toto!!! 🎶 🎵🥁🎸
The muck up at the end was pure rock and roll and only made them look cooler than they already were. The sad part is that they never sounded better and they were just entering a new phase of the band. I can't imagine how they would have sounded had misfortune not struck Jeff.
It is amazing to me that in 1991 i can see sweat on the guitar neck. why isn't there more videos of this quality on youtube. I know it was rare in 1991 but this is unreal!!!
Agreed! You are so right. I keep watching and keep forgetting that this was filmed in 1991. In ‘91, people!! Amazing!! Our Swiss friends,… wow. If any of you, camera people, technicians, crew, staff of this Mountreux festival, is reading this right now, the whole world today is forever thankful to you. You did an incredible job! You couldn’t possibly know that this was going to be Jeff’s last concert ever with Toto, and you still did such a professional job, as always, and left us this precious footage, beautifully shot. If any of you is reading this, you are awesome! The world thanks you, Switzerland and the Montreux Jazz Festival crew. WE ALL THANK YOU!
Wow, and that was live, no retakes, everything knitted together and their awareness of when to break out of each section of the tune is superhuman. Not many bands could do this kind of stuff that well, or even close to that well live. I see someone with clumsy hands hit the wrong part of the screen above, or maybe it was a baby who was fiddling with their parent's keyboard?
Really great .... rhythmically perfect, harmonious and, often conjured up, the dynamic of the band .... I was allowed to listen to the band in its various formations and was never really disappointed ...
Sound basso e chitarra pazzeschi!
@@JohnBogansky I Heard Luke talking about it in an interview years ago. Also, they were not happy with the monitor mix at that show, so they played quite loose which to me, was more rock 'n' roll.
The face of Mike is so great, so much joy! Imagine this is your job! Rip Mike
I love that 7/8 groove and how they alternated back and forth to regular 4/4 so smoothly.
RIP Jeff and Mike. Thanks for the music that saved my life.
Without them I don’t know if I would be the way I am today.
What a band. Superhuman musicianship across the board and great chemistry.
And as kids they all grew up in the same neighborhood! 🤩

The “Groove Master” Mike Porcaro along with his brother Jeff, are one of the best rhythms sections of all time, Imo.
With the cymbal roll! Mmmmmm

Jeff, Mikey, Dave & Luke...
TOTO @ their most organic & best!

The best musicians on the planet. Amazing.
Proof of the existence of my God. Music is universal. Amazing!!!
David Paich the KING OF TOTO!
7:01 The moment when Steve steps on the pedal ... goose bumps
Forever in the books! Wish that i could’ve seen them live at that time and the times before.. but i was born in 94… such a huge fan of them
Love the bass tone.
Epic performance Mikey
Thanks and Rip ❤️

I've attended several Toto concerts with Mike Porcaro. Always great, but here his perfomance is fantastic!
Incredible!!! so good! Mike is just amazing, Jeff incredible of simplicity and efficacy! The best Toto ever

This is amazing
Mike porcaro maestro del groove, steve lukather versatil.....
So punk rock at the end, love it !!

verissimo
Incredibile I migliori al mondo
Pezzo stupendo: trascinante, completo, UNICO !!!
Masterpiece.......Who!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Awesome Toto, at their peak!!!
Fucking incredible musicianship.
Outstanding
I'm such a huge fan of theirs that I love even the train wreck at the end of the song
Only a band as skilled as Toto could fuck up like that and recover with such style. Magic!
@@sleepeejack It wasn’t actually a fuck up. I believe they had to stop because Jeff was having problems with his wrists.
Great band, and this is their stand-out track IMHO.
La mejor kanzión de esos maestros !!!!👏👏

soooooooooo cool
still epic
toto makes the best mistakes sound perfect
Jeff got a hand cramp near the end, so ended it early according to Luke. It made zero difference. A perfect performance and I miss Jeff!

Jeff ❤
Arguably the best Toto concert ever. But where was Steve Porcaro?
Steve Porcaro left Toto in 1987 to pursue his songwriting career
My name is Jake and I approve.
Not that this needs my approval...
Jeff e mike🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
7:53 Doh! Good recovery, though.
What happened at 7:53 ? Someone forgot how they planned to end it? haha
It happens even to the greatest :-) Who cares?
@@drummyonekenobi it has been written there was a problem with Jeff's wrist, but I don't know further details.
You think so ? I thought it was done on purpose, and even better, I loved this ending.
@@darkkevindu6982 Definitely not on purpose.. just shows how great they were as a band.. it still sounds ok :)
You can hear Jeff play the lick to the studio version ending but nobody else hit the ending. Guess he was supposed to do a solo there.
3:50 3:51
When did Steve start playing Music Man guitars, and is that a modded strat he's playing?
Ohh how I miss Jeff and Mike.
Was there a drummer in the band? Didn't see any ...
Qui c'è poco da dire
Wow! Luke plays it better now! like Vine
Haha Jeff messed up THE end of the song ,all star team it is
Jeff got the ending as per the record, I think they just missed it was being cued 😆
at the end they got lost.. great anyway, they are humans, high humans..
Pat Metheny?
