    Amiga RTG (retargetable Graphics) run seperatly, Caffeine is a pimped version of a tribute to amiga os, AGA is for the Amiga 1200/4000 32bit machines. the A2000 is OCS/ECS are the older modes, your RGB2HDMI needs to be set to Amiga profile also.

      Thanks for all the great info. I love your channel by the way. I definitely need to do some more research on the rtg.

    I got an Amiga 2000 and keyboard off Craigslist about 20+ years ago. Paid $75. :-) However, I wrongfully stored it with the battery and forgot about it. It leaked and destroyed some traces but I was able to repair it 100% a few years ago and now it works great! Funny thing is when I was 16, I bought an 8 MiB RAM upgrade for my Amiga 500 and Bodega Bay (remember those?). I don't have the Bodega Bay anymore but now my A2000 has the 8 MiB card. I paid $440 for that RAM when I was 16!!

      I don't remember Bodega Bay but that is awesome that you were able to repair it. A lot of people love those computers and are willing to go to pretty great lengths to save them. That's a very cool thing

    when you were launching cocobanana you mentioned that you don't know the differences, so AGA is "amiga graphics architecture" and made it into the a1200, and 4000, it had more colors and memory. the ECS/OCS "enhanced chipset/originalchipset" is what we have in our A2000 and A500 and is less capable.

      Awesome. Thanks for the info. I got chewed out about not knowing that in another comment. Amiga stuff is very new to me.

      Actually AGA means Advanced Graphics Architecture. ECS is the same as the original chipset with the addition of a "half-brite" bit where you get additional 32 colors at half the brightness in 32 color mode (64 colors in total). While the ECS did not HAVE more memory it allowed to access more memory. PS! It is all on Wikipedia :)

    One good way to get a 2000 going with genuine (sorta) hardware...
    Is find a way to clone the DKB Wildfire 060 (also the Graphics card Inferno which attacked to it and went out that 2nd slot next to the CPU slot.
    I've seen some redux's of the 4091 for the 4000... (that purple one)....
    So if they can redux one of the best all time accelerators for the 2000... that would be something.
    It had a SCSI-II interface if I'm not mistaken.
    Made the A2000 a serious machine at that point because it still had a scan doubler ON the "Inferno" card.
    So that freed up the 2000's video slot for a Video Toaster... (going to its own monitor).
    Other fun thing to do if someone wants a great challenge...
    Redux the entire A2000 motherboard.. but with a vision of how it would have.. or should have been "revised" back in the day.
    This way, the hardware is still as close to true Amiga hardware as possible... while retaining some ability to continue to have life.
    For example, if you ditch the 68000 on board CPU and go with a 28mhz EC020 (cheap route) and run it straight from the 28mhz clock..
    You essentially got a 24 bit DMA A2000 mobo which is light years ahead of the old version there.
    Toss in some 30 pin simm sockets (they might have had that on a revision back in the day).. to give the RAm up to 16mb of fast. .(matching the 3000's RAM).
    2mb on board chip.
    Its not overkill... would be a fun upgrade project maybe?
    Then someone could toss in a decent 060 board.. or... (drum roll) 68080 board?
    I''d still like to hear more opinions on what Amigans think of Apollo's '080 ... since they are making it and not Motorola

      That does sound fun. I'm really new to Amiga stuff so I've generally been just trying not to break stuff :)

    Nice. I'm a big Amiga fanboy :-) I was setting up my A4000 just today after many months of inactivity.
    A520s are indeed garbage! I wish I had know this back in the day as I could have used a cheap SCART adapter (SCART is obsolete now).
    My A4000 has ethernet but is far from the router. I configured an old wifi router to act as gateway. Seem to work OK.
    BTW the A500/A600/A2000/A3000 has the OCS chipset. A1200/A4000 has the AGA chipset (basically more colours).

      @AnotherMaker  Рік тому

      That's fun stuff. I've never used the 4000. The one thing stopping people from making external things for these for a long time has been that the 23-pin connector was basically unobtanium. Someone in the community wound up getting some custom made again so they're floating around at about 20 bucks a piece now. It's amazing what people can do.

    Hi. Can this board work on an Amiga 4000?

  • @stevee7004
    @stevee7004 Рік тому

    Why do you have the power cable connect to the PiStorm2K with a 2ZeroW? You don't need that plugged in, That Pi doesn't draw THAT much power. If you a Pi4, then Yeah, plug it in, otherwise...not needed.

    • @AnotherMaker
      @AnotherMaker  Рік тому +1

      A lot of people say that the PSU on the Amiga 2000 is borderline as is. I asked everyone on the Amiga discord and no one had ever tried to add 2 pis to an amiga so I was advised to at least start with external power to them.

    I’m looking for one of the with a Blue mask for my A2000 EATX build. Do have leads on where to find one completed?

    • @AnotherMaker
      @AnotherMaker  Рік тому

      I don't know any completed. I think I have an extra PCB if you want to reach out to me and you're willing to suffer with a red one

  • @RodimusFVC
    @RodimusFVC Рік тому

    Because I'm absolute garbage with a soldering iron - is there any way you would consider making another one (or two) of these (sans the pi, as I already have several pi's laying around). I have two A2000's in my collection of things. I have the original C= flicker fixer board, but it doesn't output anything near as clear and useful as this does. I have the main A2000 plugged into a C= 1960 monitor, but it's small, grainy, and honestly probably doesn't have a lot of life left. If you would be willing to help out, I'd be much appreciative. :)

      I'm sorry. I'd love to help but I've had an issue with getting in fake/bad cpld so the hit rate on these has been pretty bad lately. Honestly, I'd buy a pre-tested one from Ebay. The PCBs are great but the chips have been garbage.

    Gerber files available? Would rather use JLPCB and their SMD service.

    7:20 has a CRT whine in the background that's super loud... can you please low pass filter CRT shots in the future? It's almost unwatchable for me.

    It's far better the original machine, the Minimig implementation in UnAMIGA haven't the PAL 28'37516Mhz Clock! This MINIMIG don't have PAL! Must be fixed!

      I know. Crazy right? Hey. I'm learning along with everyone else. Side note, another commenter took the time to explain the differences and provide valuable information for me and everyone else in the comments. Since you have knowledge that others don't, providing helpful comments may be a good way for you to use that knowledge. I appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment.
