Loved this song when Sammy did it before but this version just puts a huge dollop of cream and big ass cherry on top, what a rocking frickin tune and a kick ass lineup!!!
I know right. After seeing this for the first time with Eddie and Sammy both doing lead it’s sooooooo hard to listen to the original studio version now. But when I do now I hear Eddies touch it the song in my head as listening to the studio track
Lifelong Sammy Hagar and Van Halen fan. I saw them in August 1991! You don't see talent like this anymore. And Sammy still plays a few shows! He will be 74 this year.
It's a Sammy Hagar song, but it wasn't hard enough for Eddie so he filled all the "dead spots" with his incredible embellishments. Eddie did this with virtually any tunes he covered which made them so much fun. Led Zepplin's Rock and Roll is another one where Van Halen (with Sammy) absolutely ripped !! On top of that, IMHO the 1986-1989 era was Eddie's absolute prime.
That song was their opener during the 5150 Tour. It carried over to this tour (OU812). "I Can't Drive 55" also made into the 5150 Tours shows. Later "Where Eagles Fly" from Sammy's solo album in 86 made into their live shows too. Sammy would sing it solo with an acoustic guitar.
Still can't believe I last saw them back in '92 at Jones Beach where it poured the entire concert and I will never forget that the entire audience sang every freakin' song. It was a once in a lifetime experience that I'll never forget. 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖😎😎😎😎😎😎
RIP EVH - the master of his era in my opinion. I got to see them 4 times live and I was at the 1993 Right Here, Right Now tour concert in London Wembley. I've seen many groups and concerts live, I was very fortunate - seeing Van Halen live and especially that 1993 concert was the absolute best ever. We were 3 rows from the front and my friend even managed to catch one of Alex Van Halen's drum sticks when he tossed them out in the crowd
One of my fav live performances. Hagar did his best live solos during the first two years after he join VH. He was already pretty good when he first joined the band; but he had to reach back really far to be able to trade licks with EVH, the most innovative guitarist at the time. BTW, you say you like to party? There are many that say, no one can throw a party like Sammy Hagar. He is 73 now and still doing it!
Love you guys reactions especially SuzieQ..lol..I like your blue hair...fire ! Sammy Hagar on vocals and RIP Eddy Van Halen one of the greatest guitarist ever!
the 80s was fuckin awesome. we didn't sweat shit, we just rocked the fuck out all day every fucking day. the threat of nuclear annihilation helped us realize life is short and now is the time to have a fucking blast! carry on
Been a VH fan since late 70’s because of Eddie…not David. When Sammy joined, I lost my mind! The music was more sophisticated and so much better. Was a great blend! Great Sammy classic!
Sammy 10X better than David Lee ! People forget that Sammy could really play ..... 😎🎸 ( very easy to do when Eddie is up there melting faces ! ) This song shows them both in full Van Hager swing ! Check out..... Summer Nights Love Walks In Both from the epic .... 5150 album ! .& let's not forget Michael Anthony's Base playing and amazing back-up vocals ! That voice deserves so much credit for many of their mega hits !
I've seen Van Halen with Sammy Hagar live many times!!! Their concerts are an absolute PARTY!!! RIP EDWARD VAN HALEN!!! The guitar that Eddie is playing is called 'Frankenstein' and is 'priceless', and is now in the Smithsonian Institute in Washington DC.
Bring the family to Destin Florida. We have one of the most beautiful beaches on the planet. Also, if Eddie and Sammy never got famous but knew each other, they would do just as good a guitar duel in a garage somewhere. I know a shitload of talent never makes it out of the garage. That sucks.
I’ve seen Sammy do this live on his VOA TOUR (last solo album before joining VH)…I’ve also seen “Van Hagar” perform it live….and the latter is that much more intense and rocking!
(Naturally Wired) y Black and Blue...Saludos
Hey Travis my brother, hey there Suzie q🙃 haven't watched the video yet,was out and about and got dinged lol just wanted to let you guys know your reaction videos are awesome and really love your band🤘🤘🎸🎸 Jon and Dolly as well ✌️ it just fits!!!! Much love to all from all yours friends just up the road in Monroe Michigan!!! Much love🙏 you guys should check out anything from Dino Jelusick 👍 just saying!!!! Hope all the families are well!!!!
Do you know you were talking about how pretty the guitars and all were that guitar was made by Eddie Van Halen he created it out of a neck and a body he built it himself and there is a copy of it in the Smithsonian institute believe it or not very true I only live 30 minutes from it I’ve never seen it but I heard it’s there that’s only the best guitarist of all time of our time your time
I’ve watched several of these reactions by Travis and Suzie…they never talk about the artists directly or by name; almost like they don’t actually know who EVH, Sammy and all these legends they react to are…is that possible?
Solo-era Sammy Hagar was awesomely cheesey! THE RED ROCKER!!! Loved him so much more before he joined VH. Loved VH so much more before they dumped DLR.
Loved this song when Sammy did it before but this version just puts a huge dollop of cream and big ass cherry on top, what a rocking frickin tune and a kick ass lineup!!!
Sammy is an underrated guitarist and song writer.
Killer rendition of the classic Sammy Hagar tune, with Eddie adding his own awsome style to the song...fucking love it!!!
I know right. After seeing this for the first time with Eddie and Sammy both doing lead it’s sooooooo hard to listen to the original studio version now.
But when I do now I hear Eddies touch it the song in my head as listening to the studio track
I know right. With Sammy playing VH was able to add a whole new level of awesome.
Agreed, only ever heard Sammy version of this, Eddie adding that awesome wailing guitar just made it even better!
Two of the best guitarists in the world! Bar none! RIP Edward!
So glad I grew up watching these Badd Ass Guitarists .
One of the best damn performances by Van Halen!!! Awesome!!!!
Wished ya could have been there. Saw Sammy with Eddie 5 times in Detroit in the late 80's. They really were awesome. Was in my early 20's at the time.
Yes at pine knob and Alice in chains opened up for them and the rest at the palace
I love how when they're trading leads back and forth, the other guy seamlessly picks up the rhythm guitar part.
The best version of this is from Live Without A Net.
NO ONE does it like Van Halen!!!
Standing Hampton is an incredible album from Sammy. I own it on vinyl. And I love this era of Van Halen. They had so much fun and put out great music.
Eddie & Sammy should have done that more often, b/c they both play wicked guitar.
ikr?
For all you youngins, when he says it's 8:05, it's time to rock, that's when the opening act would start, and the lights went down.
Love Sammy more than Van Halen. This song is great and his album "Standing Hamton" is awesome. Nice react as always👍
Would LOVE to hear "Heavy Metal".....the song is SO underrated! Gotta say, this sounded real good.
Sammy is king!!!!!!
Lifelong Sammy Hagar and Van Halen fan. I saw them in August 1991! You don't see talent like this anymore. And Sammy still plays a few shows! He will be 74 this year.
They have definitely proven their is ONLY ONE WAY TO ROCK!!!
Seeing Eddie riff on a Sammy solo song just WARMS my heart...I wish it was always like this
I seen them 5 times between 78 - 86 and front row in 86. Memories that will last forever ❤️
It's a Sammy Hagar song, but it wasn't hard enough for Eddie so he filled all the "dead spots" with his incredible embellishments. LET THERE BE ROCK, LIVE AT THE RIVER PLATE!!!
First concert ever was 1991 Providence RI VH w AIC opening. Mikey Anthony stole the show w his Jack Daniel's bass solo
Saw him he's awesome, thanks for requesting it Sean or Shawn
Great song!
Love Hagar's solo stuff!!
Playing Sammy Hagar tunes as VanHalen? Priceless!!
Hi, I'm EDDIE n I am the party!!!!
You guys kick ass!!!!!
Eddie is just unhinged free styling the entire song.
My favorite rocker of all time King Edward Van Halen. Love your reaction video. Very cool. 😎👍
Eddie went fuckin psycho like a viking warrior on a rampage on his guitar in that song.

Too much fun my face hurts from smiling you two are real funny its cool
Eddie's fills are insane
Eddy van Halen also born in the Netherlands absurd isn't it? Wauw proud to be Dutch . love you 2 and your reactions. Keep on rocking ❤ greets jacco

I say this very respectfully , your band needs to truly up it's game. I think you will go far!
Blessed to have seen all versions of VH more than any other band I’ve ever seen live.
Thanks for reacts to this gem!
They were very tight and firing all cylinders! Maybe the best live band ever!! Greetings from Brazil!
It's a great song and the guitar battle is so much fun to watch. RIP EVH. Gone but never forgotten.
Now this is music
Love you guys reactions especially SuzieQ..lol..I like your blue hair...fire ! Sammy Hagar on vocals and RIP Eddy Van Halen one of the greatest guitarist ever!
Perfection 🙌
Sammy! The Red Rocker! I love him!
Standing Hampton is an awesome album!
the 80s was fuckin awesome. we didn't sweat shit, we just rocked the fuck out all day every fucking day. the threat of nuclear annihilation helped us realize life is short and now is the time to have a fucking blast!
carry on
That's my Van Halen 👏👏👏
Been a VH fan since late 70’s because of Eddie…not David.

Base playing and amazing back-up vocals !
That voice deserves so much credit for many of their mega hits !
live? FOR SURE
This is actually a Sammy Hagar solo song! They did a couple of Sammy Hagar solo songs when Sammy was in Van Halen.
Hey Ed, guess we found Waldo! That shirt cracks me up!😂😎
You also need to check out Sammy and Michael after Van Halen in their band Chickenfoot with Joe Satriani on guitar.
THAT WAS FFING AWESOME!
Great job guys! Lots of fun!
This song is from Sammy’s Red Rocker Days!
You need to check out the same song but from Live Without A Net Tour from New Haven. Also look at Best of Both Worlds from the same concert.
Bring the family to Destin Florida. We have one of the most beautiful beaches on the planet. Also, if Eddie and Sammy never got famous but knew each other, they would do just as good a guitar duel in a garage somewhere.
I know a shitload of talent never makes it out of the garage. That sucks.
Where's Waldo Van Halen!
Stuff like this is why the Van Hagar era is criminally underrated and amazing.
I love this song from Sammy. Cool to see Eddie jamming it.
Another good Sammy Eddie combo is Best of Both Worlds.
Love this reaction!!👍
Van Halen a year to the Day live must
I’ve seen Sammy do this live on his VOA TOUR (last solo album before joining VH)…I’ve also seen “Van Hagar” perform it live….and the latter is that much more intense and rocking!
Susie just tell him " Welcome, I AM the party!"
Take that Travis.
I love this!!
Kick ass rock and roll RIP EDDIE

Suzie you would have loved the 80s.
Where's Waldo? He's right there kicking major ass ripping with his Frankenstrat.
Sammy killing it on guitar
Oh ,VanHagar
this was Sammy's hit before the VH days
Top shelf Sammy Hagar solo nastiness...good-un
Looks like Ed, found Elmo.
Who are the 4 guitarists? Oh wait that’s Eddie Van Halen.
They did this and one or two other Sammy songs in concert. Sammy wrote this in 1981/82.
Sammy is GREAT. I have seen him 90 time since 1974
The quote is from hot rod
its cool to see the band doing one of sammys solo album tunes.. my favourite Sammy songs are dick in the dirt and can't drive 55.
Cool beans
Strong Hot Rod reference
That was sam Hager song before he joined van Halen. And van Halen enhanced it to what you just heard
Hi and "Guten Abend" from good old Germany :D
COOL BEANS!!!
Do you know you were talking about how pretty the guitars and all were that guitar was made by Eddie Van Halen he created it out of a neck and a body he built it himself and there is a copy of it in the Smithsonian institute believe it or not very true I only live 30 minutes from it I’ve never seen it but I heard it’s there that’s only the best guitarist of all time of our time your time
Hard to believe that Eddies gone and Sammy's a billionaire.
L8
Good stuff. Eddie is still the man.

Damn good times that's all I can say, they don't make music like that anymore.

✌🎸🤘🙏
Sammy plays the guitar Eddie is the guitar its like its part of him
HOT ROD - And SAMMY was forced to be a better guitar player. No way but to get better being around Eddie V. They both are awesome
Michael Anthony is the luckiest man in music history.
Van Halen was never the same without Michael Anthony
I’ve watched several of these reactions by Travis and Suzie…they never talk about the artists directly or by name; almost like they don’t actually know who EVH, Sammy and all these legends they react to are…is that possible?

Solo-era Sammy Hagar was awesomely cheesey! THE RED ROCKER!!! Loved him so much more before he joined VH. Loved VH so much more before they dumped DLR.
