I had a mad after American Werewolf in London. Her voice, her eyes and her natural beauty and the British accent...I was in love. 1981, 9 years old. It was my greatest movie experience ever.
I once happened, by pure chance, across an event (in Yorkshire) at which Jenny was a guest speaker. She has already impressed me over the years with her acting skills in the movies, but her real ‘ordinary’ speaking voice was truly something to savour. So gentle, so smooth, so measured, but at the same time, appearing neither contrived nor forced. A lovely lady I could listen to for hours.
A beautiful woman, perfect accent, arched eyebrows, nice eyes and a pretty smile. Quite irresistible, and at the age of 67 she still has that captivating quality.
I met Ms Agutter in London back in the early 80's. I was in the US Air Force, stationed in East Anglia. I hadn't seen American Werewolf in London, I didn't even know "Walkabout" existed, I didn't see that in fact, until the 2000's. I did know her from Logan's Run, she was gorgeous in that. Anyway, I literally stalked her sort of. They used to have a nationwide entertainment paper back then, it'd list almost every concert, play, appearances, etc. I was looking at it, I was on a week's leave. I saw her name in the paper, doing some kind of literature thing in London. I had a little Ford Escort, I drove into London, walked around and went to where she was supposed to be talking. It was wrapping up, it was literally all of these older women, dressed all posh....I was wearing blue jeans and a golf shirt. I walked up to her and said hi, she made a comment about me being American and she touched my arm and told me to hang around for a few. She went on doing the niceties, after that she wanted to know if I wanted to go get a sandwich. So off we went, walking to some take out with tables outside. I was laughing hysterically inside, wishing my best friend David could see me at that moment, he was nuts over Logan's Run. And there I was sitting at a table with the lady from the film. I acted kind of ignorant to her movie star status. She asked if I'd seen the werewolf movie, I of course said no, I did tell her I knew her from the Logan film. So she asked a lot about me, about where I was stationed, where I was from in the US. We talked for about 45 minutes and then parted ways. Jump several months later and I saw her name in the paper again. I got the day off and drove to London again, I was feeling really nervous, I didn't want her to think I was stalking her. I sat in the back while they were talking authors and writers. I almost left and while some other lady was talking she looked my way and waved. So I stayed. Pretty much the same scenario again, we went and had a bite to eat, she remembered my name which I was chuffed about. So this time when we parted ways she wrote a London phone number down, I don't think she lived there all the time but she told me to call the number and leave a message and we could go out for a proper meal. I never called her. Go figure. I couldn't tell you why exactly, I was in my early 20's, a bit of a low point in life, self destructive, shortly after that I was sent back to the States, I never really thought about it again till a few years after that and realized I'd blundered. I often wonder if she'd even remembered me. She likely had sandwiches with lots of people so.......
I can remember years ago . She was tutoring young inner city children on underlying messages of movies. Also, how to correctly interpret the stories of books. Donating All her free time for these kids in Los Angeles . It was comprehension of Literature. To this day I know of no other greater deed, other than sacrificing ones life. Or to save another life. Human or not. But maybe she did save lives by helping people understand the written word. Such a remarkable person she is.
Apart from her physical beauty, Jenny has a voice and diction which just melts me.....always has done, ever since I first saw her in "East of Sudan" (1964). I was 18 at the time and had an immediate - and lifelong - crush.
A remarkable and charming actress, I've just stumbled on a copy of The Railway Children, I had no idea that Jenny Agutter was in the principle role as I watched it. As a child I played in a railway tunnel and remember well the horrific excitement of realising that a train was coming, and there was no escape in any direction, other than to hide, bracing msyelf on the sides of the workers' cubby holes as the Charing Cross to Hasting electric train rattled past my nose, in Elmstead Woods tunnels. Sitting, retired in Siam now, feeeling a a litle nostalgic, the film made me feel charmed again especially for the past that has mostly vapourised now. Thanks Jenny and the cast...xx
For me, she is the epitome of the english rose. A type of beauty that is perennial and timeless and the kind of woman Ive always wanted to be with (if only for a while.)
You summed her up perfectly. I’ve always been attracted to her because of the lovely way she speaks and her gentleness as well as her beauty. I like to think of her as being every bit as gentle in real life as she was in the 1970 version of the railway children.
She radiates elegance and class, an obvious educated woman with a conservative vibe. She's a dying breed alas the degeneracy of today will make woman like her a thing of the past..
So beautiful.....if she hadn't of chosen to be an actor.........she'd of made a great teacher...............is it me or is her voice so relaxing and lovely to listen to :-)
I saw Walkabout on TV when I was young, 11 or so, and found it very interesting, and noted 16 year old Jenny in it as well. Later I saw Logan’s Run where I really enjoyed her and Michael York, and her other films and eventually connected her back to Walkabout. I was then pleased to see her in American Werewolf. She appeared on American TV later in an episode of Newhart, his 80s sitcom. In it, everyone gets to live out their favourite fantasy, and Larry Darryl and Darryl want to host a talk show to be able to interview their favourite movie star, which was Jenny. She appears briefly with them in a talk show set.
I can’t help but adore her - i feel weak , emotional & madly in love every time i see her - she owns that film, what id give for her to have been my nurse - she must be 60 something now, sure she’s still marvellous
I’ve always adored Jenny Agutter! She was lovely, charming, and amazing in Logan’s Run and An American Werewolf in London. Beyond her captivating beauty I find her poised, well mannered demeanor and intelligence charming, as well.
The way Jenny speaks is not about being ‘posh’, whatever that might mean. No, it’s about upbringing, attitude, values and self discipline. Believe you me, money doesn’t play a prominent part in this. My mother had to live on a remote islands in the Pacific for a time, is now 92, and still does her washing by hand. Yet, she speaks the clearest most perfect English. Maybe, it’s more about fair play and the beliefs of those that set out, to other parts, from those islands off the mainland of Europe.
Fell in love with her in American Werewolf in London. That shower scene made quite an impression on my 17 year old self :) She looks absolutely gorgeous here!! Intelligent beautiful beautiful woman!
I remember her well in Walkabout, though tastefully shot I enjoyed her seeing her naked, I was particularly struck by the way when two people of different culture spend time in a state of nudity, the social barriers evaporate.
Regarding LA, she absolutely nails it. So many come here to find something, but the successful ones come here to BRING something. Like she says re: You choose your spot and put up what you want and decorate your home how you want is how it works, you make it what you want. This was even the plot point of a tv episode I worked on where Tim Minear, the extremely talented TV writer, (The Inside episode 1 was the show) had the smartest investigator realize you don’t come to LA to pretend to be something you’re not. You come to LA to be and to bring who you ARE.
@Scott Smith you can’t see there’s two separate statements. She is beautiful here. She has aged as well as a 68 yr old can. He didn’t say she’s as beautiful now as she was then. Concentrate.
@Scott Smith detail is your weakness. Copying my style isn’t even flattering, I wouldn’t want you as a follower. Try the Kardashians, it’ll be more accessible at your level.
@Scott Smith You’re devoid of wit & humour, that’s why you’ve twice used my lines as a substitute for having no originality. Happiness is not possible for you.
Most people have seen her recently and didn't even know it. She plays SHIELD Councilwoman Hawley in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She was in Avengers and Captain America: Winter Soldier. Her stunt double got to kick Robert Redford's double. The producers @ Marvel are big Logan's Run fans.
He's a good interviewer - he doesn't do much talking and makes the guest do the talking. Not as good as Johnny Carson, but far better than most interviewers today that inject themselves into the spotlight as much as the person that is the supposed focus.

How did this interviewer think a slightly nervous monotone delivery would really bring out the character in a person? Thank god, Jenny Agutter could carry it on her own.
It's a very good interview. He knows there's only one star in the room, and he just opens up the ground for JA to 'walk about in', c.f. people like Jonathan Ross, who think they're the star.

Yeah, me too.
I really envied that Werewolf who got to live with her in England.
Indrid Cold is a very interesting internet identity to choose. Why choose a 1950s British contactee alien? No judgement, just curiosity.
@@monsterpig3270me too! She's soooo beautiful.. been watching American werewolf in London every nite for a month lol

No plastic surgery, a natural feminine beauty, a velvety voice, a rare thing nowadays.
It’s the working class that is to blame, all of them revolt me
Too young for plastic surgery in this interview ...31 years old ???
Very much upper / middle class well spoken accent 😂 lovely lady generally well loved.

gorgeous and gifted talented. so underrated.
Her career in Great Britain has kind of been like Dana Delaney's here: dominates older leading lady roles there.

Such a nice soft melodious voice. It's a shame that nobody speaks proper English anymore.
I wonder if she ever does audio books? Seems like she would be a natural.
