    I am so happy I have found your YT channel. I have lived fulltime in Thailand since late 2020 and really find it so difficult to learn and understand the written and verbal Thai language. You have excellent teaching skills Jack :)

    I am very grateful when you elaborate on the difference between spoken vs. written language. Because when I practice speaking Thai vocabulary I sometimes get discouraged, this is because the constant change in tones feels so unnatural on my throat and voice box. But when I see your video explaining that spoken Thai is often an easier pronunciation then I have more hope that I can someday speak Thai and be understood by Thai people. 7:14 (until 7:53 as an example of what I really appreciate).

    Thank you, Kru Jack for the video! I have a question. As you have mentioned in this video, “sag” means about. “sag” 2-3 wan is about two to three days. is this similar with the word “bpraman” or ประมาณ?
    Thank you so much again!

    • @IgetThais
      @IgetThais  6 місяців тому +1

      "bpraman"(ประมาณ) and "sag"(สัก) can be used to indicate approximation, "bpraman"(ประมาณ) tends to be more commonly used in formal or precise contexts where a closer estimate is desired, while "sag"(สัก) is often used more informally and can sometimes imply a rough estimate or a sense of uncertainty. It's commonly used in casual conversations.

    สวัสดีครับครูเเจ็ค thanks for another helpful video.
    I have a question about the word หน่อย which relates to สักหน่อย at 05:00 and นิดหน่อย
    I was introduced to หน่อย when used as a polite particle for example: ช่วยมาที่นี่หน่อย.
    It is also commonly used by foreign students of Thai in the cliche ได้นิดหน่อย as in พูดภาษาไทยได้นิดหน่อย.
    At the time I did not know the spelling or have appreciation for the tone marks.
    I later learned another word น้อย which means "little", "few" ... as an adjective and also "bit" as a noun.
    Now I have gone back to examine phrases like สักหน่อย at 05:00 and นิดหน่อย and have become confused as to the choice of word to convey the meaning, which is using a polite particle for some unknown reason.
    It does make any sense to me to use หน่อย because it looks like น้อย actually conveys the correct meaning.
    Hope you can help solve this mystery for me.

    Jack, what is the difference between "Pom ja haa puean bpai duay sag kon" and "Pom ja haa puean bpai duay?'

    • @IgetThais
      @IgetThais  6 місяців тому

      The word "สัก" (ság) can be used in other contexts to express uncertainty or a small amount.
      "Pom ja haa puean bpai duay sag kon" "sag kon" about 1 person expresses a desire to find a companion, with a hint of uncertainty.
      and "Pom ja haa puean bpai duay" is a general statement and expresses a strong intention and confidence in finding a companion.

    Khruu jak, i think there's a typo error from 7:09 to 8:20 where สัก is spelled as คน. But it's ok though. It's not given emphasis ซะหน่อยครับ =)

    what is the main difference between sak and praman?

    • @IgetThais
      @IgetThais  6 місяців тому +2

      "ประมาณ"(praman) and "สัก"(sag) can be used to indicate approximation. "ประมาณ"(praman) directly means about, around, approximately, and tends to be more commonly used in formal or precise contexts where a closer estimate is desired. Meanwhile, "สัก"(sag) is used more informally and can sometimes imply a rough estimate or a sense of uncertainty. It's commonly used in casual conversations.
