    The lean mean bird.
The car is in great condition. It is good to go on a long road trip just as it is. The fuel injected 5.0 litre engine is rated at 235 to 240 hp, It is tuned just right and gets good fuel economy. A TRUE AMERICAN SPORTS CAR.
Check out this really good video on the Formula history.

I really like the 3rd generation F bodies. Especially the Firebirds.
This is probably the best conditioned one I've ever seen. It looks like you went back in time. I'm so glad you kept it in great shape 👍

This car looks great, kudos to you for keeping it up. Without the lower body cladding it is easier to appreciate its true form.

The 5.7L V8 (L98) produced 240hp & 340 lb-ft torque; The 5.0L (LB9) with the 5 spd, with the 3.42 gears and dual cats had 230hp & 300 lb-ft (the automatic 305 didn't have the dual cats or the rear gears and only produced 205hp). Also the WS6 suspension system came standard with the Formula - that included the large tires. Very lucky to see that this car has 4 wheel disc brakes. Many 92 Formulas, Trans ams, and GTAs left the factory in 92 with rear drum brakes. Apparently there was a parts shortage for the final production year and I do believe some of the mass GM layoffs that occurred that year meant that GM was not going to source out discs for the last of the 3rd gen F-bodies. ** Also of note; none of the common 3rd gens that rolled off the factory came with a true dual exhaust. The '91 and '92 Firehawk is the one exception. Otherwise they all came with a single exhaust system running the length of the car (except where the dual cats split) with dual exits after the muffler. Having had several TPI firebirds in my past, I would also say that I highly doubt the entire exhaust system on this particular car is stock. Stock has a much more muted rumble than I'm hearing on this particular car. Though that may be do the camera's audio reception. But it doesn't sound stock. All that said, this is an INCREDIBLE car. It's essentially a museum piece. I cannot believe how few miles are on this car and how well kept it is. Great find and lucky you to have it. 91-92 Formulas are my unicorn and I certainly hope to have an LB9 5spd car someday. Hope this commentary isn't too harsh. I memorized all of the literature on these cars when they came out since I was a teenager then. I haven't forgotten it since lol. Great car. Thanks for posting the video of this endangered 'bird!

That video was taken with a blown out original muffler. Has since been replaced. It has all other original exhaust and has 2 stock cats.

@@4284gordon nice! Would be cool to hear it now. I always thought the stock exhaust systems on the TPI cars was nice. Hope you're enjoying this car. It's a beautiful and rare bird!

    BEAUTIFUL CAR!
    The 5.0L motor actually had 230hp & 300 ft lbs. The 5.7L motor had 240hp & 345 ft.lbs.

That's what I was thinking with the WS6 suspension and the 5.7 motor this formula is pretty rare

Pontiac offered an SLP exhaust package dealer installed in ‘91-‘92, it was worth about 50 hp iirc.

I remember the Formula Firebirds where some of the only true dual exhaust cars out there from GM don't get me wrong there might be a couple other ones out there. But the Formulas where to me the best next to the GTA's I did really like the FireHawks Also!

The only 3rd gen F-body of any kind that was sold with a true dual exhaust was the Firehawk. Every GTA, Trans am, Z28, Iroc, and Formula sold was a single exhaust system with dual outlets; not a true dual exhaust.

      Strut Bar Advantages
      Stiffer Chassis
We cannot deny the fact that some cars really do benefit from strut bars. These include old, light-weight cars that are known for having body-roll and sway related problems.
If your car is new-ish and doesn’t have any stiffness related issues, you won’t benefit from installing strut bars.
      Reduced Wear and Tear
Strut bars redistribute tension between the left and right strut towers. All the force and pressure that is generated while driving gets shared evenly across your chassis.
Because of this, the wear and tear associated with this pressure also get redistributed. Even wear is always a good thing.
      Under-Hood Bling
Let’s face it, many enthusiasts install a strut bar because it makes their engine bay look great - and that’s okay. As long as the mod has some function and doesn’t take anything away from your driving experience, it is worth installing.
Tastefully painted or anodized strut bars look fantastic!
