Thanks for sharing this footage of a fallen flag. I enjoyed 90's railroading I was a teenager and enjoyed the variety of railroads especially in the railroad capital. I was always amazed how the SOO kept their locomotives fairly clean despite the color scheme. Railroads back then took pride in their image. Nice video.
Great video Jeff, I don't know how old you are but when I was a young man the engines were high hoods and f-7s and f-9s autoracks were open and there was always a caboose. When the big four penn central train would go by they would throw candy or gum to us. Those were the days!!
I’m 65, my Dad worked for the N&W in Cincinnati. He let me ride with a switch crew when he was Yard Master on a night shift. That got me hooked and years later I got to work with him several times when he went back to being a switchmen. He saw what stress was on other people so he went back to switching.
@@jefftoft5568 That's great Jeff, whe I was young we had the switching crew from Penn central and on the caboose the had big four painted on it and the let us in the caboose to see it and another time the had to wait on the siding and the took us in the cab of the f-9 and showed us around that was the day I found out they were electric. Oh the old days when life was so simple. Things have really changed.
Your right there! I never rode in an F7, GP7’s and 9’s were my favorites. One thing I noticed when I rode in road units SD40S were smooth but SD45’s rocked back and forth on the rails. Thanks for watching!
Really love the early 90s footage from Davenport or really the QC area in general, as it’s where I grew up and have my fondest railroad memories. It would be awesome to see some combine train footage if it exists, as I noted a few CaseIH loads in those views looking into Nahant. I also got a kick out of seeing the Eagles grocery store semi passing by on 280 towards the end. Keep up the good work!
Thanks Lee, I have a SOO line playlist that is mostly filmed in Davenport , Bettendorf and Clinton. All in the 90’s. I have a couple more videos coming up soon on geeps and SOO Line Bandits (ex Milwaukee).
@@jefftoft5568 Yeah, good reminder I need to keep going through your playlists for content I’ve missed since I subscribed. It could take a while but that’s a good problem to have!
I watched this video a second time, and it has to be my favorite all-time railfan video on the internet. Ex-MILW bandits contrasting clean SOO engines, gobs of screaming EMD 645 turbos under load, active ex-CRI&P CTC with US&S H-2 searchlights , former Rock code line, MILW Woodworth switchstands with chevron feather targets... the awesome-list goes on-and-on. All that’s missing is an active West Dav tower, but that was gone by then. I just wish I could transport myself back in time to be there (in my-then 21 y..o. self) but this is definitely the next best thing. Thanks for shooting and sharing this 34 minutes of incredible awesomeness!
Two SD40-2s notching all the way up to 8 into the horizon! Perfect way to end this great video. Also, good that you got some bandits in there.
Thanks, and thanks for watching!

Thanks Steven, My favorite time is also the late 80’s and 90’s. All the mergers and variety of power was great. Thanks for watching!

@@dmitze01 That makes my day Dan, thank you for watching!
Awesome footage.
Thanks again Steven!
Nice catches Jeff. What happened to the intermodol yard?
I think the tracks are still there, it is hard to see since the tracks are across from West Dav yard. No easy access.
How can you NOT Love the SOO Line ? Let’s ALL Yell, “SOO”. It’s Better than the Razorbacks.😬👍

SD60 looked it upnicestuff JT Is sprint train SOO's name for z trains?
