Huge fan of the Soo Line train engines! I used to watch one go by my old childhood home in South Clinton as a small child. I loved them. Now, my 8 year old son just loves trains!!
@@jefftoft5568 Thank you for replying to my comment! It has always been a great joy to watch trains go by alot. I now get to watch them alot more, since I live by a very busy rail line that runs by the river front. I see and hear Union Pacific, Canadian Pacific, Soo Line, and BNSF trains go by alot. I live right across the street from them in Clinton, Iowa.
I shoot video over at Fifth St. quite often the UP diamond can be very busy. Soo Line is owned by CP, any Soo Line is getting to be more scarce but they are out there. Thanks again.@@kiryumechagodzilla4059
Great video Jeff! Love these early 90's videos. I never realized that the Sprint trains did work in Davenport. I always assumed that they ran thru from Chicago to KC. Do you have any video of operations at the intermodal yard? I researched that yard on the web and didn't find much information other that aerial photos on Google Earth. From the current Google street view it looks like the piggypacker is still sitting there.
No, its out of the way and no real access to it without trespassing. The yard job would pull the tracks and take the KC cars to the south end for Sprint train to pick up and drop whatever they may have for Nahant. The tracks are still there but have not been used for quite a while. Thanks, I am glad you like the videos.
Yeah, it looks pretty out of the way. A couple other questions... Did the eastbound Sprint stop at Nahant for set outs/ pick ups as well? Was it a common practice for Sprints to run without a caboose? I noticed in your videos that most Sprints don't have them, even before the strike of '94.
No cabooses, I don't remember a whole lot on eastbounds. They must have run earlier in the day and since I was working during the day I was only able to catch the westbound in the evenings.

A lot of my Soo Line videos were shot in the Clinton area.

Another good one
Thanks again Randy!
The Sprint trains were inherited from the Milwaukee Road which folded into the Soo Line in 1986.
I was able to catch a little of the Milwaukee until the SOO took over. Thanks for watching!
